Anon's Merak WaveCel helmet pairs revolutionary WaveCel protection with the dual hybrid construction of the ding-resistant durability of an endure-shell on top and a featherweight in-mold construction on the bottom with 19 active ventilation channels. WaveCel is a collapsible cellular structure that lines the inside of the helmet and can reduce impact and rotational force by flexing to reduce initial force, crumpling to lower impact velocity, and gliding to help redirect energy away from the head. A 360° BOA Fit System offers a quick, micro-adjustable fit with the turn of a dial, and the Fidlock magnetic helmet strap buckle allows for easy one-hand operation, even with gloves. This helmet is very comfortable and I love all of its features. Paring with Anon goggles made for a fog free and perfect fit experience. I love the vents can be closed on a cold day and that the ear pads are audio compatible. I also really like that the BOA fit system is in the helmet shell. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend to others.

My 7 year old ski helmet has seen better days with a small dent on the front. Thank goodness I was wearing a helmet during my tumble. Anon has introduced a new safety feature inside the helmet which hopefully be better than the present MIPS in some helmets.I was spoilt for choice in colour and Snowinn stated this was grey but iit is Hedge which is a grey/ green. Pleasant enough. Fit was good after reading sizing and BOA system. Like the amount of air holes it has and being able to open and close with ease. Helmet chin strap easy to close and open with its magnetic clasp. I have Anon M4 toric goggles so we will see if they steam up as they did with my old Giro helmet. I was due to replace my helmet after some light hits and opted for the most current safety features. If you plan to wear anything thicker other than a light balaclava or beanie I would go with a larger size. My head circumference was in the middle of the medium size recommendation and with a light beanie I only needed one or two clicks on the boa system to get the right fit. The magnetic clasp is nice an convenient, and ventilation control is great. The ear pads are a bit thick, which muffles sound a bit, and I can’t imagine being able to hear anything if I added audio chips. The shape lines up really nicely with the Anon M3 goggles. I expected the green wavecel material to feel more fluid/ have give like silicone, but it’s actually still quite hard. I have been looking for a new helmet for over 12 months. This helmet exceeds the brief for the type of ski activities I’m current involved with. Resort, All Mountain and Backcountry Skiing. If you are thinking about a new well engineer helmet, I highly recommend this Helmet JB
Picked one of these up about a week ago and could not be happier with my decision. This helmet is compact and lightweight, doesn't make me feel like a bobblehead. Easily the most comfortable fitting helmet I've owned. It also is very well ventilated which has almost completely cut down on my goggles fogging (never expected that from a helmet!) but doesn't make my head feel cold at all. Would buy again and would definitely recommend to a friend!
I returned my Merak helmet. I personally find the Merak helmet to be too big/thick compared to other brands. The goggle strap also slides out too easily because the clip opens from the bottom.
Pros: Looks better than most high end helmets. The adjustable vents are nice. Perfectly lined up with M4 & M4S goggles. And it probably saved me from stitches or worse the first day I wore a helmet.Cons: I've never found a helmet I don't complain about, so take this with a grain of salt. I want a helmet that feels like wearing a beanie + goggles, but I doubt that exists. Like every other helmet I've worn for various sports, it feels heavy and the suspension system's irritating. One thing I found annoying with this particular helmet is the glue attaching the Velcro for the "removable and washable" PolarTec liner and ear pads is incredibly weak. The Velcro buttons ripped off the first time I tried to remove it, and I was being as gentle as possible. Same thing ... MorePros: Looks better than most high end helmets. I had 2 commotions while snowboarding. This new technology is awesome to help prevent them. Protect your brain. You only have one. Ventilation is perfect. Super light.
I absolutely love this helmet. It is rugged, strong, has great features like the chin strap connection that uses magnets to direct itself into its locked position. The air vents are adjustable, and most of all I love the Wavvell technology. Search for the impact testing videos they did with the eggs and you’ll see why Wavecell is a literal life saver. I have worn this helmet in the Alps and I cannot recommend it enough.
This Helmet which I got in black is amazing! Very comfortable, a nice snug fit. Keeps my head and ears very warm even without a covering. I bought this specific helmet for the wavcel technology which is definitely the best technology on the market. The price tag is a little high, but in my opinion you get what you pay for, and you don't want to skimp out when it comes to protecting your head.
