This works very well PROVIDED the wire is replaced with a B string from a light guage electric guitar string set. Then it cuys cheese beautifully. The original wire is too thick, too soft and too loose.

I bought this on the back of a stellar review from another buyer and not wanting to add anymore of those sh#t plastic ones to the environment,but was sadly disappointed. Awkward to use, the wire stretched out within days. I've gone back to a knife... maybe it was too good (cheap) to be true..
The slicer is easy to take apart but it's hard to change the thickness of the slice. I sliced through one bit of cheese and the wire became so loose that the cheese slices were thicker at one end than the other. I needed to tighten it up but for $9.95 I just threw it out.
It feels very lightweight compared to similar slicers I've used. The roller is a light plastic. I'm not sure how durable it will be in the long run.On the other hand, it slices hard cheeses very well. It's a huge improvement over those plastic supermarket slicers. Definitely worth the price.
This item does the job very well, It is easily adjustable by using a screwdriver and one can get a very good range of adjustments, from very thing to very thick. I would recommend this item to anyone who wishes to have cheese slices. I can find nothing bad about, except that it would be good to be able to buy extra wires for it if not already available. 100% satisfied with it so far.
the metal and wire cheese slicer is a change from the usual plastic ones that break after a month or 2. It is early days yet but so far so good. The real test will be to see how long it lasts, hopefully long enough to justify not buying more $2 plastic ones!
We have struggled with cheese slicers, continually breaking them. This one feels more sturdy, and we are therefore hopeul that it is going to last a long time for us.
As far as cheese slicers go, this seems to do its job well. But I quickly came to the realisation that I can get the same results with less annoying cleaning and setup, by using a knife. Knife slices through cheese like a knife, and can be used for many other things that a cheese slicer cannot be, and cleaning is a snap. So my five star cheese slicer is... Knife.
