iPad itself is great. The iPad is fast fluid and has great cameras. I think apple could of had a larger battery installed I would be lucky to get a full day of use. As if the case hasn’t been fully glued properly. However afte doing some research this is a comment fault with these iPads. This can be easily solved by putting th riparian in a durable case which I’ve done and that’s stopped the creeking. I also find the iPads not having a calculator very frustrating however you can always install a third party app. I would recommend trying the iPad out in store before purchasing to see wether it’s suited for your needs.

Then the iPad Air was updated and given the M1 chip which changed everything. Not wanting to use the iPad for taking photos (I use my iPhone for that), I had no need for the second camera on the Pro. The screen of the Air at 10.9" is only marginally smaller than the Pro (I'm sure most people wouldn't even notice!), and the other spec improvements, unless you are an advanced user, are even less noticeable. I have no regrets at all and am happy I went with this model... the blue colour is also very desirable and not an option on the Pro so win win! John Lewis provided a 2 year warranty (a year more than buying direct from Apple) so yet another win. I finished my package with a personalised Apple Pencil and a good quality but non-Apple magnetic case. All in all, money well spent on a device that will give me years of reliable service.

Performance so far is excellent but in comparison to my old iPad there are two ergonomic points I have to get used to: 1) when holding the Air landscape, I need to use my left-hand fingers to turn on and get a fingerprint read. The all-screen design with a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display is stunning, providing crisp, vibrant visuals and offering great viewing angles.PerformanceThe game-changer with this generation is undoubtedly the M1 chip. Its 8-core CPU delivers a significant performance boost, handling demanding tasks with ease. Multitasking is smooth, graphics-intensive games run without a hitch, and professional-level applications such as Adobe Photoshop work seamlessly.Apple's claim of having a faster GPU is also validated in real-world use. Everything from editing 4K videos to creating complex digital art feels faster and smoother. The 8-core GPU provides outstanding graphics performance, and developers are already beginning to leverage this power to provide more robust applications and games. The Neural Engine is equally impressive, providing advanced machine learning capabilities. This power under the hood will appeal to creatives, developers, and anyone looking to push the boundaries of what's possible on a tablet.Battery LifeDespite the powerful M1 chip, Apple hasn't compromised on the battery life. The iPad Air continues to deliver around 10 hours of web surfing or watching videos, which should be more than sufficient for most users. However, heavy use of pro applications might shorten this a bit.

Great tablet, excellent performance, mid speakers

I’m currently writing this review on the additional Apple Smart Keyboard Folio attachment. It makes this device a pleasure to use. This is a great investment which I had made because I was looking for an upgrade from my iPad Mini 5th generation. It was showing its age but I was picking between the Air and the 6th generation Mini. I ultimately picked the Air due to a price match. The battery life is very reasonable, definitely upholding Apple’s advertised stats. The display is high resolution and has very suitable brightness for indoor use. I suspect the visibility wouldn’t hold up in bright sunlight, however, compared to the iPad Pros. The performance exhibited by the M1 is the main reason I chose this over the Mini, and I have no doubts that this tablet will ... MoreI’m currently writing this review on the additional Apple Smart Keyboard Folio attachment. Apps open quickly, browsing the internet is a breeze and the 8GB of RAM allow for multiple, responsible tabs. I have not tried gaming yet but the reviews which I have seen only had good things to say about performance.Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase, although the speakers could be a bit better. They are stereo but are not as loud as I’d have hoped, and don’t have nearly as much clarity in the low-mid range as for instance my MacBook Pro speakers (which isn’t a fair comparison but worth mentioning).I’d recommend an additional keyboard attachment for this device if you’d like to have a much easier time typing. Currently, without either holding the tablet like I’m playing a game or tilting my neck uncomfortably low, typing is not the easiest on the tablet alone. You can likely find either an Apple keyboard on sale or an aftermarket brand with similar functionality, for a reasonable price.

IPad Air 4 - It's Still Great.
28 January 2023

I decided it was time to upgrade the old iPad Mini 4 which I purchased back in mid 2017. The IPM4 has been a great ownership experience so there was no doubt I was going to stay with Apple. This time I decided to go with a larger screen.Even though the iPad 5 was released in March 2022, I purchased the iPad Air 4th Gen a month later in April 2022. Great Purchase, love it, use it all the time. I'm sticking with iPads.Go with what works for you, it's as simple as that.

Just to be fair I returned this unit for a different color. However the iPad air 5th gen is probably the best iPad you can get for the cost. Sure the iPad Pro has a few really nice features like Pro-Motion, brighter screen, and quad speakers but I use my iPad as a consumption device to watch streaming content, to play a few simple games, web browsing, etc.So spending over $800 with tax just to have some features seems a bit overkill. With the iPad air you get a paltry 64gb ssd but you also get the M1 with 8gb ram which means this iPad is supercharged. The liquid retina screen is really nice and the stereo speakers get loud enough and have a good amount of bass. Honestly the only downside is the lack of 128gb ssd storage option.I think this is the best value as ... MoreJust to be fair I returned this unit for a different color. However the iPad air 5th gen is probably the best iPad you can get for the cost. The liquid retina screen is really nice and the stereo speakers get loud enough and have a good amount of bass. Honestly the only downside is the lack of 128gb ssd storage option.I think this is the best value as you can purchase for well under the retail price and considering other decent tablets there really isn't any competition. Specially with the M1 chip there is nothing that is close in terms of performance. The new M2 iPad Pro would also be an excellent option for those who are artists or use their iPad as a primary computing device. For me the iPad air offers the best value and delivers a fantastic level of performance for the cost. I would like quad speakers and promotion but again the stereo speakers are loud enough and the lack of Pro-Motion isn't a deal breaker but more of a nice to have. Considering the new 10th gen iPad and this iPad air I still feel the air is the better value because of the laminated screen, pencil 2 support and m1 processor with 8gb ram.
