Beautiful Display

The OLED display is fantastic on the new M4 iPad Pro. The M4 chip is future proof for many years to come! Despite its large size, the 13 inch is only 578 g so it is very manageable to hold up for extended periods of time, although if I were to be travelling with it or using it for schooling, I probably would’ve picked the 11 inch. Only negatives I have to say are: the 13 inch is almost too thin, not very comfortable to hold in the hand without a case, and due to its dimensions, it has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is not the best for watching and consuming content as you have big black bars on the top and bottom of the screen when watching.

I decided to get a pencil with the computer too, it is very helpful for editing music notation on the piano roll facility in garage band. Having been an iPad user since about 2010 I am familiar with the interface. The immediacy of simply switching on and off, the lightness of weight, portability etc, it is all, for me, simply perfect. I don't need a word processor, just a good web browser. A laptop would be too much effort. The electronic screen, the camera, the microphone etc, it is all good. The iPad I bought was not cheap, the m4 with 13 inch screen and a terabyte of data storage, however I use the machine every day, it will get a lot of use, as did its predecessors, so I feel, for me, it is worth it.

Laptop Replacement?
12 December 2023

I bought this for my wife who used a MacBook Pro for years; 2011 17’ which still works, but is too big sometimes.Since I purchased this iPad, she literally hasn’t touched the MacBook Pro…at all! This iPad is that good; I also bought the case with the keyboard attached which is a game changer.Awesome product which seems to do anything that a laptop can do, at least in my wife’s opinion…

Powerful Tablet
29 June 2024

This is a very nice tablet. It lost two stars, one for the high price and two the iPadOS does not utilize the power of the M4 chipset. Should able to run more powerful apps similar to the MacBook Pro. It is nice to finally get the landscape camera on the front. OLED Screen is nice but if could find an M2 iPad Pro with mini LED I might recommend to save a few dollars and go for it.

Pricy, but great experience
3 January 2024

I have had the 1st generation and 3rd iPad Pro 12.9, but this gen is awesome. I can tell the difference in snappy transitions, no lag opening apps, switching between apps, or opening Excel, Word, and image files. My 3rd gen iPad Pro was damaged and I was unable to make the transition to the new one as usual. However, I had a backup in iTunes and was able to restore it to the new iPad without any issues. The large screen allows for a great split-screen experience.

Product Description is Deceiving
26 July 2024

Be advised that you do not receive the Magic Keyboard or Pencil with this purchase, even though it is listed under the "features." There is no indication that these are separate purchases, and the Mart management team only says that they use what the manufacturer provides them. Companies should stand behind mistakes made and should closely monitor what descriptions indicate. If these items had been listed as "additional purchases," that would have made sense to the customer.Customer Service was nice but the manager I was forwarded to talked down to me like I was a child and at one point, I had to ask her to lower her voice. So unprofessional.

Really the best version of the iPad yet to come out
15 August 2021

I am upgrading from an 11 inch 2018 iPad Pro which I liked, but I haven't had a 12.9 inch iPad Pro since the first generation of the device came out in 2015 and I kind of missed that size because I liked the larger screen, even if it was less portable. Needless to say, I decided I wanted to upgrade to the 2020 iPad Pro and I got the model with 5G and 2TB of storage. So far I am loving it. Really enjoying the bigger screen and what seems like a modest improvement in screen quality from the version I had last. It's not as significant as I was expecting with the move to mini LED, but I can tell a difference. I got the magic keyboard from Apple to go with it along with the Apple Pencil 2, so needless to say, I am feeling significantly poorer today as a result. I got the magic keyboard from Apple to go with it along with the Apple Pencil 2, so needless to say, I am feeling significantly poorer today as a result. Honestly, this is the reason I held back a sat in my review and only gave this device 4 because it is just so hard to rationalize over $3,000 for a tablet plus accessories. This is half way to the cost of a Mac Pro, which is also priced ridiculously. I wish Apple didn't charge such a ridiculous premium for their products. I do agree they are the best, but are they the best for the price? It's subjective obviously, and I have no room to really complain because I chose to pay the Apple premium this time, but my advice to the company would be to keep this aggressive part of their market strategy in check because they risk alienating loyal customers like myself in the process. All that said, I am happy with this product thus far and am happy I finally upgraded to this device after deliberating since it came out. Ask me again though when I have to pay off my B&H credit card!!! I'm not sure the answer will be the same when I am done with that!

The ultimate iPad but iPad OS continues to disappoint.

It is difficult not be heap superlatives on this device. It is fast, sips the battery, has a magnificent display but is let down by an OS that makes no use of all that hardware. As always with Apple hardware it is beautifully made with precise and solid buttons, a beautifully made case and a superb screen which is bright and has excellent resolution. Responsiveness is excellent with either fingers or the optional Apple Pencil. Battery life is excellent. I can use this for 2 to 3 days without a problem.I have the M1 11 iPad Pro and decided I needed more real estate for movies etc. so decided to invest in the 12.9 version. There is no difference in speed (obviously since they both use the same processor) but the extra screen size is better for media consumption. I used to think the 12.9 was too large, but, these days, it does not seem to be too large, although I will continue to use the 11 when traveling to keep size and weight down.iPad OS is another case altogether. It is so restrictive and it becomes more obvious when you use the Apple Magic Keyboard which makes you think you have a laptop equivalent. You then notice the clumsy interface, very restricted access to files, archaic access to multiple windows using arcane gestures that make no sense etc. You have to accept that iPad OS is not Mac OS. The M1 MacBook Air is a better buy if you want a laptop, not a 12.9 iPad with Magic Keyboard which is more expensive and much less functional. However if you want a slim convenient media consuming device the iPad is very good.My last point is that this device is not cheap and I waited to get an offer from BHPhoto who are one of my favorite on line technology places for photo, computers etc. Once you add the cost of that Magic Keyboard, you are in MacBook Pro territory. It has one small advantage over a MacBook Air or Pro, it has a SIM slot which gives you access to the internet anywhere there is a cell tower. So if you know the advantages and disadvantages of this device and have deep pockets, then this is the best iPad you can get, But if you are looking for a combined laptop and touch pad solution, then think carefully, it is nowhere near being a laptop replacement until iPad OS is sorted out.

Wacom killer

I'm updating from an 11 iPad Pro (2020). This was a huge improvement for me. I use my iPad Pro as a second monitor for my MacBook Pro and as a graphics tablet when drawing storyboards.I made the switch from a Wacom tablet to the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil years ago for a few reasons. I enjoy drawing directly on the screen vs drawing on a tablet and looking at a monitor. I also could never justify the cost of a Cintiq. I like to be mobile and take my work to coffee shops, bars, parks, etc.My experience on the older iPad Pro was almost perfect. I like to be mobile and take my work to coffee shops, bars, parks, etc.My experience on the older iPad Pro was almost perfect. The one advantage of a Wacom tablet was being able to see the cursor move around screen while hovering the stylus above the drawing surface. As a digital artist it is extremely important for me to see exactly where my mark will begin, and how big my current brush is. There was always a bit of guessing that had to be done and I eventually got used to it. Using the M2 iPad Pro which supports hover made my work so much more enjoyable. When it really comes down to it, I want to enjoy my work and have as few barriers as possible. To me, the hover feature makes this a perfect device for digital illustration. I will never purchase another graphics tablet, and I wouldn't use a Cintiq if it was given to me for free. This is perfect. The increase in size from 11 to 12.9 is way more substantial than I was anticipating! It's nearly as big as my MacBook Pro screen. I'm a motion designer as well, and being able to expand my workspace across the iPad Pro's display is incredibly helpful. I can't believe I made it as far as I did using the smaller iPad Pro.I would highly recommend this model to any professional digital illustrator. The hover feature really changes how it feels to draw on this device. Upgrading from the M1 chip, that's a difficult question. I think you should go to an Apple Store and give a try and see for yourself how nice it feels and whether or not you need it. Anyone considering a Wacom Cintiq should look at this first before making a decision.I have yet to fully explore everything this device has to offer. I can't wait to record ProRes footage and edit all on the iPad Pro.
