After lusting after the M1 Pros since their debut, and reading or watching just about every review on them, I purchased a 14 inch Base Model which is an upgrade for my 2015 and 2017 MacBook Pro 15.4 inch. I selected the 14 over the 16 inch primarily because of the weight and perceived better balance which I equated with the smaller size. The 2015 and 2017 always felt somewhat unbalanced or awkward in my lap so I primarily used them as desktop computers. Additional factors were adequate screen size (I thought the 13 in was too small) and performance for my needs (primary use is MS Office applications). 10 days into the purchase I began to second guess my choice, primarily on screen size and as a second monitor for my external display so I purchased a 16 in to try ... MoreAfter lusting after the M1 Pros since their debut, and reading or watching just about every review on them, I purchased a 14 inch Base Model which is an upgrade for my 2015 and 2017 MacBook Pro 15.4 inch. The extra screen size was really nice as well as the slight improvement in sound quality. For my use, I did not notice any performance difference between the 14 and 16 in. Another important observation was that, as opposed to my 2015 and 2017 MacBook pros, the 16 inch though slightly heavier than both, felt balanced in my lap which was a key decision in selecting the 14 inch. Another observation was that the keys were slightly quieter during typing on the 14 than the 16 inch. It was a tough decision but in the end I decided that the 14 inch adequately met all my needs and decided to return the 16 inch. Though cost was not a factor in my decision, the $500 savings will be used to upgrade my phone and purchase desktop accessories. Apple really did a brilliant job with these.

I am very impressed with this computer's battery life. It lasts for days before needing a full charge and I bought it specifically for a decent battery life. I love the ProMotion refresh rate technology and the image quality of the display is great. The portability and battery life enables me to be able to take my laptop wherever I go such as being out by the pool and pergola, in the car for long drives and in bed. macOS Monterey is super easy to use. The keyboard is super spectacular especially with the backlit keys and typing feels great. Hopefully this feature will become available in time to come. Also, I have read some reviews about how when user's installed the update for macOS Ventura, their M1 MacBook Pro's battery life charge depleted faster than it did on macOS Monterey. The staff at Harvey Norman Maroochydore branch were respectful and assisted me with my purchase. Very impressed with the product and will recommend it as well as Harvey Norman to others.

That was the HUGE issue with the i7/i9 models, and with the M1 Pro current model... I don't even hear the fans.. Do they even turn on? Performance is fast and no noise... I love it!Additionally, battery lasts forever with this MacBook. Connection between iPhone and Macbook when using Airpods is seamless. The system recognises when you have unlocked your phone and switches your sound to your phone, and then back to your Macbook whenever you need it.So far I have not had any negative experience with this machine. So far I am very satisfied for the purpose which is going to serve me. (Programming and video editing).Where this macbook shines is the SSD as it is 5x faster compared to my previous machine which was i7. Everything seems so seamless. Another great thing is the wifi card in this laptop is amazing, my old laptop would get 4Mbps and poor signal in some areas of the house, whereas with the Macbook I get 300Mbps minimum around the house, it might not be the full speed (1gbps) but still it is a lot better than 4Mbps. I did a lot of testing on this Macbook and you get the quality for the price.Lastly to summarise this review is the price...I had my eye on the 16 inch model for many years and it was not affordable price. 2,000 - 2500 is quite high... considering the fact that everything else is going up in price. Was lucky to find the Macbook on sale for 2,099 and use the Very discount code for 20% off and it went down to about £1680. It is still a lot but comparing to a regular 13 inch it's a no brainer for 16GB model with M1 Pro(M1 Pro is faster than those new M2 macbooks)Comparing it to the 14 inch model... it's great but they are almost the same price... I didn't see the benefit of having smaller screen and paying the same price. As I am going to use it for programming the bigger screen suits me better. If you plan to travel you might want to consider the 14 inch, still same powerhouse performance but I think it should be lower price.Hope this gives you some insight about the Macbook.

Like most Apple products, you are getting the best of quality here, from the unboxing experience to the user. The macbook is built exceptionally well, light weight, very sturdy, no imperfections.Compared to other Macs, the performance is unmatched. Imagine the speed of iPhone or iPad, but with desktop applications. The screen can be compared to OLED screens, perfect inky blacks, infinite contrast ratio with insane brightness. The screen also comes paired with Apple’s Pro motion Tech (120hz)Speakers are out of this world and defy laws of sound. Crisp and clear while also covering great quality of mid and low end. And they are LOUD.Keyboard goes back to apples older keyboard design, plenty of depth and very reliant. When macbook is on standby, it survived all week without charge.Using the Mac, it doesn’t get hot unless under extreme load, paired with being light weight and sturdy, it’s perfect.
If you read any of the reviews you would find this laptop indeed has great overall reviews. Therefore, I just want to add what my concerns were and what I have discovered since the purchase.Interoperability & Compatibility: Since this is a new laptop design and OS with a new chip, I had concerns with the backward compatability. I am happy to say my new m1 laptop is running everything thrown at it. It even runs Microsoft applications that were meant to run on intel macs just fine. There is no noticeable lag of even performance difference. I am impressed.Stability: Since this is a new hardware and OS, I had some concerns with stability and that is where Apple has little more work to do. There is no noticeable lag of even performance difference. I am impressed.Stability: Since this is a new hardware and OS, I had some concerns with stability and that is where Apple has little more work to do. Don't get me wrong, it is stable enough, but my Mac does crash every once a while especially when running apps meant for intel Macs or when I had thunderbolt hub connected to it.Audio: Since I have high end desktop audio system, I was concerned with how this Mac would work with my desktop audio system. The only issue I saw was that the latest Mac does not support USB chaining of more than 2 USB hubs. This effected my use of USB reclockers, but I am actually fine with this. I had no such issues with WindowsPerformance: I had no concerns with the performance, but I do think its overall performance was overhyped by reviewers. This laptop may do video processing faster than any intel laptop, but that doesn't mean it would do everything 5x-10x faster than windows laptops. Far from it, its overall performance is similar to high end intel based Windows laptops, but without the excessive heat, fan noise, and battery drain (and battery life of this laptop is indeed excellent).Another bit of a surprise was how much RAM this laptop was using. I thought 32GB of RAM would be plenty. I am a power user who often writes code and runs Dockers on laptops etc, but there were several times when my RAM went over 26GB of usage. I would say this design is rather memory-hungry and I do recommend getting one with 32GB or more of RAM if you are a power user.Overall, I am happy with this purchase especially because I got it with a sale. I was waiting for the m2 chip release but that has been delayed.
As a lifetime MicroSoft (MSDOS, Windows, etc.), I have been skeptical about the virtues of the Mac world. After watching many YouTubers who swear by the Apple ecosystem for its seamless integration across the various products, I decided to give it a try. Converting from my Windows system using Apple's Migration Assistant proved to be more trouble than it was worth. After trying for several days to resolve the interrupts on my Windows-based computer (i.e., turning off everything in Startup and uninstalling most apps that start anyway), I decided to just link my OneDrive account to the Mac to get access to my files and docs.I had to call Apple Support to delete the multiple identities the Mac created as I had tried to get the Migration Assistant to work. The folks at Apple were very helpful and understanding although, not surprisingly, not completely familiar with how to operate the Windows-based computer when I asked for help with the Migration Assistant. I give the Mac support team an A+ for their patience, follow-up, and willingness to stick with me until I had the Mac up and running to my satisfaction. There were several apps that I have used for years on my iPad that were not available for the MacBook--that was a surprise, but not Apple's fault. This meant that some of the work that I had on either the iPad or the iPhone will not integrate seamlessly with the MacBook. The most troublesome example I had was a Password vault that I have used for years on the Windows system and on the iPad that has no analog for the MacBook. I look for the "best in breed" of this type of program and bought the one recommended for the Mac OS--it works with the iPad and iPhone as well, so problem solved.Using Sidecar to extend my MacBook screen to the iPad is a useful feature, but is not the same as extending the screen using a Windows system. Or, I haven't figured out yet how to make it work as an independent second monitor. I expect I'll find some advice on how to make that feature work soon because it is one of the key advantages to the current OS version and having a second screen is certainly helpful if not essential these days.I had become accustomed to using a wireless keyboard and mouse with my Windows computers, so switching back to the laptop keyboard and trackpad was not as comfortable. I also missed having he separate number and arrow pads on my extended keyboard. I solved that issue by purchasing a Satechi Bluetooth keyboard and an Apple Magic Mouse. Both are working seamlessly with the MacBook. The Satechi keyboard was about $100 less than a comparable Apple keyboard and the only difference I could find was the lack of a fingerprint scanner on the Satechi keyboard. Since the MacBook already has one, I opted for the lower cost Satechi product and have not been disappointed.Bottom line, if you're a Windows user and believe you could benefit from Apple's integrated ecosystem, I'd say make the leap. the MacBook Pro is fast and powerful. Avoid the Migration Assistant if you can--the difference in the two operating systems makes it too much trouble for the time investment. Some of the operating practices (using control, option, and command keys) takes some getting used to, but not comparable to learning a foreign language, therefore, not too much of a barrier to make the transition.
I am used to my old Dell Inspiron laptop (which has a Windows operating system). Although I am very familiar with Apple iPhones, I have never owned an Apple computer before. However, I have read very positive reviews on Apple laptops over the years. So, I was really excited to purchase my first Apple MacBook Pro! I love the large 16" screen and quick response time. It's a beautiful design, but the laptop (and screen, especially) seem a bit fragile, compared to my Dell Inspiron (which is made of thicker, substantial material). I am going to purchase a hard case, to protect this laptop from any damage or potential drops. I am going to purchase a hard case, to protect this laptop from any damage or potential drops. Also, I need to purchase an adapter compatible with this MacBook Pro to be able to plug in my external hard drive USB and passports. That is one disappointing aspect of Apple laptops - as my Dell Inspiron has regular ports, which can easily accommodate my Passport device and other USB flash drives. The Apple MacBook is quite expensive, and it's very unfortunate that I now have the added expense of purchasing an adapter. Apple should definitely consider adding more traditional ports to their laptops, so that people don't have to buy additional devices.I heard that the Apple MacBook is great for editing photos, videos and voice over recordings. So that is one of the main reasons that I purchased this particular model. I am hoping to produce some great work on the Apple MacBook Pro!
This is my first Macbook purchase, and I can definitely say I'm glad I made this decision! There was alot of thought I put into making the choice to switch to Mac. Primarily, I was tired of buying a new laptop and/or PC every few years. While Windows computers aren't "bad", they don't have the same ecosystem that Apple has incorporated where your iPhone and other Apple products sync together.Windows is starting to try and have the "look" of their ecosystem imitate the Macbook such as the dock at the bottom of the screen, having widgets, having an "app" store, and even having the folders look similar to how the Mac OS is setup. Even tho Windows allows you to setup it up similarly, it just doesn't sync as well and everytime I tried to access my iphone pics thru windows it just never worked out as one would think.Other features I like about the Macbook is the trackpad, the Retina screen, the speakers, and essentially everything about the Macbook that separates it from a traditional laptop. The trackpad is proprietary to Apple, and using it is so easy I hardly use my mouse anymore. The Retina screen display is nice and allows me to view more of the website (and auto adjusts the view as well). The M1 Pro processor is amazing, and so far I've not noticed or heard the fans kick in. My previous laptops (gaming laptops like MSI, Alienware, etc) would sound like they're about to blow up just turning on or opening internet browsers.Overall, I see why people have held on to their Macbooks over the years (and why they last so long). Unless some magic fairy comes and kills this thing, I believe this will last me at least 5 years (hoping for 10 years).Lastly, I'll say, if you're looking to game on the Macbook I wouldn't suggest it, simply because gaming PCs are designed for high-detailed graphic games, those expensive graphics cards (and the power supply units) are designed to handle those games. Macbook isn't designed to be a monster gaming machine. It's designed mainly for multimedia (video and photo editing) use, as well as normal use. It doesn't have a crazy power hungry design to allow for high-end gaming like gaming PC do.This is written by a life-long Windows PC user, so if you're looking to switch, don't be afraid. Yes, it is expensive, but that's because Apple builds everything in-house now (no more intel/amd chips), which means more smooth performance compared to typical PCs.Hope this helps!
So far, this is absolutely, without a doubt, the fastest, clearest, smoothest MacBook Pro I have EVER owned.I was doing my researching and trying to decide whether I should get the M2 Pro MacBook Pro 16 or this one, and with the price drop of $500, there was no question about it.For those who are wondering about which one they should get, I would say just get this previous generation. You get a 10core processor (8Performance and 2 Effeciency cores) that boasts up to 21 hours (22 hours on the M2 pro) battery life. That's another thing. The battery life on this is absolutely insane! I am not a photographer, video editor, or anything of that sort, but I will be using this MacBook as my daily driver. Even though this may seem overkill, I will say, it is still well ... MoreSo far, this is absolutely, without a doubt, the fastest, clearest, smoothest MacBook Pro I have EVER owned.I was doing my researching and trying to decide whether I should get the M2 Pro MacBook Pro 16 or this one, and with the price drop of $500, there was no question about it.For those who are wondering about which one they should get, I would say just get this previous generation. Even though this may seem overkill, I will say, it is still well worth the money.Coming from using an m1 MacBook Pro 13 inch and Alienware x17 r1, I've noticed how much easier it is to do everything productivity wise on the 17 inch gaming laptop, simply because of the screen real estate. I wanted to see for myself if the 16 inch would be too big, but there's an easy way to think of it. Imagine a full 16 inch screen in a 15" windows laptop body. It is still slim and small enough to EASILY fit into my backpack. BELIEVE me. The extra screen space, palm rest, and trackpad are all a plus. And 16gb is just way more than enough for simple tasks. I never see myself doing memory swap even with chrome tabs open, league of legends, and a YouTube video running in the background. For most casual users like me, this MacBook will run flawlessly!
I had been debating whether to get this or the 14-inch Pro. For me, it came down to the fact that I don't travel as much as I used to. The 14-inch screen is VERY nice, but the extra screen real estate of the 16-inch is THAT noticeable. Yes, coming from a 13-inch MBP, this one is big and rather heavy (With the Fintie Protective Case on, it does not fit in most of my laptop backpacks/messenger bags). However, you get used to it and the screen makes lugging around the extra size and weight worth it.My main rig has a 34" widescreen display, so downsizing to a laptop can be painful. The 16-inch screen makes it less painful. In fact, there are working days where I will use my laptop exclusively (I work from home full-time) with no complaints and minimal, if any, drop in ... MoreI had been debating whether to get this or the 14-inch Pro. And, I can get through most of my working day on one battery charge. The reviews extolling the amazing battery life are no lie... it is incredible how long this battery lasts! If there is a con, besides the weight, I guess one would be that the RAM and SSD cannot be user upgraded. The 512GB SSD is not so much an issue for me (though it would be nice to upgrade to a faster SSD), but I would've liked to have been able to upgrade the RAM on my own. Honestly, it's not really an issue because it "feels" just as fast as my desktop with 32GB, but it's more about future-proofing since I do not plan to upgrade until this thing dies or, more likely, ends up on Apple's obsolete list. At this point, because I don't really notice any performance issues, it's hard to list this as a con.On a side note, typically, I buy my hardware from Amazon. However, the lead time for delivery was ludicrous (around 15 days). Best Buy had it in stock for the same discounted price and ready for immediate delivery. Bonus! About 10 days after I had received it, BB further dropped the discounted price by $50. I went online and chatted with a customer service rep to do a price match and, just as BB advertises, I ended up with $100 credited back to my credit card ($50 price match plus the $50 difference)... freaking awesome!All-in-all, I am very happy with this laptop and the purchasing experience with BestBuy.com.
