Packaging was neat and safely secured. I was more so impressed with the physical condition of the laptop as I’ve seen and heard of many horror stories from others who have order refurbished MacBooks throughout. I received a clean and truly refurbished MacBook as described. There was only one minor imperfection which was a small scratch on the bottom that is hardly noticeable. Also some very fine and minor rough edges that is only noticeable if you were to look at it up close but that is expected with used product. The MacBook also came with a new charger. The battery life appears to be in normal condition and no issues so far. Keyboard, touchpad, touch bar, and screen functions work just fine, no issues. I assumed the seller set the laptop to its original factory setting as I was not able to perform certain functions initially due to having an outdated MacBook OS. After doing some simple research, I was able to download the MacBook Ventura OS version which is the most current OS. The MacBook is now updated and I am satisfied with my purchase. I would recommend giving this seller a try.

Love that ports are back!, but I'm really not a fan of the webcam notch – a larger top bezel or a different design would be better. The space black finish is nice, it appears more like a gunmetal grey in bright light, but in low light or oblique angles it is very black. Performance: Scores well on geekbench, and cinebench. I haven't had any issues with performance, and vs my old base M1 macbook pro 8gb, its much much harder to summon the beach ball! Get a gaming laptop if you want to game. Display: The Full array micro led backlight really helps HDR pop on this, and colors are fantastic. But in dark images with small bright highlights you can see some backlight blooming. 120hz refresh is always welcome, but know that macbook displays usually have pretty bad pixel response times so fast moving content tends to blur. Apple should move to OLED displays, this would fix their pixel response and backlight blooming. Memory Storage: 18GB RAM does the job well, even for AI model stuff (stable diffusion, up to 13b llama models). The 1TB SSD is adequate, though I would've liked more without the Apple tax... Performance-wise, it's comparable to high-end PCIE4 M.2 NVMe drives. Battery Charging: Battery life is good, lasts all day for light tasks, but anything that uses rosetta translation or gpu drains it much faster. Magsafe is great to have back, but the magnet feels too strong - worried it might damage the port or finish over time.

Here is my positive review of the 2017 MacBook Pro 15. I have been using this laptop model for a year and a half. I initially chose this model because of the Touch Bar and wide screen, but over time I realized that it has many more advantages than I thought and was pleasantly surprised. The Touch Bar really helps optimize the speed of work, and the touchpad helps you quickly change desktops. The Retina display is very bright and colorful, perfectly conveys any image. This is an ideal screen for work, watching movies or editing photos. I would also like to say about the purest sound of the built-in speakers of this laptop, for me personally they replace a full-fledged speaker for music. I also want to praise the appearance of this MacBook, the case is a pleasant dark gray color. The laptop fits comfortably in your hands and does not cause discomfort during prolonged use. The keyboard is convenient for both typing text and working with hot keys. The laptop also has high performance and copes with a large number of different tasks, thanks to the Intel Core i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM. The battery charge is enough for about 7 hours of work without recharging. I use it mainly for work, so now I always take it with me. The built-in memory of 256 GB is more than enough, I store photos, movies, and some heavy projects in it. During active work, it can heat up a little, but as an experienced user, I can say that this small minus does not affect the efficiency of the laptop. The only thing is that after using it for more than a year, I realized that I would like the weight of the laptop to be a little less. Overall, the impression of the MacBook is pleasant. I will gladly recommend it to anyone who would like to take a practical laptop for work or personal use, this model is ideal for this.

The MacBook itself works fine, but there is external damage on the MacBook Pro that was not completely disclosed at the time of purchase. There are some slight scratches of the Apple logo which was disclosed; but there are two actual deep scratches on the screen. Those scratches over time most likely will grow and there is a dent of the right underside of the MacBook by the earbud plug-in. Furthermore, it came dirty and with an off-brand charger. If a person is paying eight hundred dollars for a laptop whether refurbished or not, whether it is an Apple product or not, the least you can do is clean it, repeat any real damage or disclose the full extent , and put an Apple branded charger with it. This is honestly disgusting of any company, with this being Walmart makes it worse, not surprising a multi-billion dollar corporation did it; but still disgusting nonetheless. I mean I bought this for my daughter as a high school graduation gift, so she is too busy using it for it to be returned because of college and even if it’s returned, who's to say Walmart won’t just give a MacBook in worse condition. If you’re willing to pay five hundred and forty-nine dollars as it was on sale from eight hundred, like me for a refurbished MacBook Pro just buy it from Best Buy or Apple themselves, for example. As even though you will be spending a bit more, they are less likely to do this and have better warranty which you can buy later on. At least they will make sure the product is not in such a condition with external damage or disclose it. Because at the time I was buying it I didn’t think about buying a warranty, so now she will have to spend hundreds of dollars to fix damage she didn’t even cause. Save yourself the extra money Walmart is going to cost us and buy it from Apple or Best Buy. Walmart has a awful Warranty Policy, with it only being able to be purchased as the time the electronic is purchased, and an even worse quality control policy. This wouldn’t have happened if this was purchased from Apple or Best Buy as they at least allow you to purchase the warranty after purchasing the product within a certain time frame and they have a better quality control system clearly. So thank you Walmart for not even bothering to clean it, an off-brand charger, not disclosing the full extent of damage on the product and your lovely warranty policy. Now in the near future, she will have to go get it fixed most likely paying hundreds of dollars out of her own pocket because of the damage product you sold me, after researching how much it usually cost to fix because even if I trade it in there’s no guarantee you won’t give me a product in worse condition. If I had bought it anywhere else, this wouldn’t be the case. I would recommend this MacBook Pro, just don’t make the same mistake as me and also buy it from Walmart. You can buy a new one from Costco, for $599 dollars, not even refurbished now it may not be the same model though.

I’m so glad that I bought this because this is one of the last MacBook Pros to have the Touch Bar feature because they completely removed it for the newer versions and so it’s so nice to have the chance to get it and knowing them on TikTok, I felt like they had a long history of being on social media, so there was no way that this could be like fake. I watch other people’s reviews on TikTok and YouTube and I decide to proceed with my purchase. I definitely recommend to buy it through here because you know the level of how the MacBook is because they have different type of quality. I got the good one. But overall, this is a very trustworthy and I love my touch bar feature. I also wanna tell a future customers to really play out with your MacBook. Check the camera check everything to see if everything works. If not, just return it back and they can help you. I’m very fortunate that I got no problems to my MacBook.

Macbook listing wasn't upfront...otherwise great!

I ordered from the seller’s listing: “Pre-Owned Apple MacBook Pro Laptop Core i9 2.3GHz 32GB RAM 512GB SSD 15" Space Gray MV912LL/A (2019) - Like New.” Bottom line, it is a Macbook that is well engineered as is the case with most Apple products that I’ve used over the years, however I disagree with their use of the descriptor, “Like New.” It had issues that did NOT reflect the seller’s descriptive terms in the product listing. For example, TekDeal’s listing for this product stated that it was “professionally restored to working order by an approved vendor” and that the product was inspected, cleaned, and repaired to "meet manufacturer specifications. It is in excellent grade A 9 /10 cosmetic condition showing only extremely light signs of wear from handling," ... MoreI ordered from the seller’s listing: “Pre-Owned Apple MacBook Pro Laptop Core i9 2.3GHz 32GB RAM 512GB SSD 15" Space Gray MV912LL/A (2019) - Like New.” Bottom line, it is a Macbook that is well engineered as is the case with most Apple products that I’ve used over the years, however I disagree with their use of the descriptor, “Like New.” It had issues that did NOT reflect the seller’s descriptive terms in the product listing. The reality is that manufacturer specifications was NOT the state of A) the Macbook lid which has the after-image on its surface of decals that used to be on it; B) the Macbook battery; and C) the Macbook was experiencing screen blinks indicating there might be something going on either electronically or via internal hardware connections. That said, I do love the machine and the fact that it has a fast processor and came with 32GB ram installed. While TekDeal’s policy apparently limited me to two options, return the merchandise for full refund or keep it and get a partial 10% refund, I give them credit for having offered me these options and making good on the option I chose, which was the partial refund. I can apply the refunded amount to getting a new battery and will have to live with the after-image of the decals. Diagnosing and resolving the screen blinks might possibly result in additional expense. I’m not ready yet to recommend this company wholeheartedly but at least they gave me options.

Yet they continue to advertise the product as the M1 Macbook Pro but deliver other variations such as the Intel i5.I am disgusted with the seller Loop Mobile and Walmart for not holding the seller accountable. I am pursuing multiple paths including fraud reports, filing a scam report with the FTC, and pushing the Walmart Account Review team to launch an investigation.Save yourself the headache and don't order from this seller or Walmart.com. There are better experiences out there; I wish I would have ordered from Best Buy, BHP, Newegg, etc.

[Rewarded Review] A good MacBook that doesn't deserve the "Pro" name
26 June 2024

The MacBook Pro has always been Apple's flagship laptop for professionals, designers, and those who need that extra bump in power and features that the mainline laptops don't provide. Unfortunately, this first M1 generation of the MacBook Pro (MBP) doesn't deliver that premium feel or wow factor of previous generations. The performance of the Apple Silicon M1 series cannot be understated. It's fast, efficient, and maintains cool-enough thermals to make everyday tasks seem effortless. Basic daily operations of web browsing, video-watching, email-checking, and multitasking (mostly) is a breeze, and the 17-20 hours of battery life is no joke. These tasks never really experience too much slowdown. Even some basic video editing or smaller project files are no problem ... MoreThe MacBook Pro has always been Apple's flagship laptop for professionals, designers, and those who need that extra bump in power and features that the mainline laptops don't provide. Even some basic video editing or smaller project files are no problem for Apple's M1 8 core CPU (4 performance and 4 efficiency) and 8 core GPU...however the 8GB RAM configuration will soon become a noticeable issue, especially for anyone working with multiple browser tabs/plugins or working with larger projects. Side note - Apple, time to catch up and make 16GB RAM standard. The biggest problem with this series of the MBP is that its cheaper counterpart, the MacBook Air, comes with the exact same chipset configuration. Not only that, but it also comes with the same RAM, same hard drive, same Touch-ID button, and same available port configurations as well. Gone are the days (for this generation) of having those extra ports for productivity, an available HDMI port for video output, or the SD card slots for creatives on the go. Here, you simply get two Thunderbolt3/USB 4 ports (only one if you are charging the laptop) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The MBP does have internal fans however, so working for longer periods or in hotter environments where thermal throttling may be an issue is something to consider over the fan-less MacBook Air design. The Retina display is back with 13.3" of real estate at 2560x1600 resolution and 500 nits. Also returning is the lackluster 720p front-facing camera, displaying a disappointing feed compared to the more modern 1080p camera that most newer competitors come with. Also returning is the customizable Touch Bar (gone in the 14" and 16" M1 Pro models going forward); a neat & gimmicky touch-sensitive thin OLED display whose button configuration changes depending on the program you have open. In the right hands and with the right adjustments, it can be an amazing tool to hop around to different applications and settings. To others, it's a feature that can get old quickly and leave people longing for the traditional function keys. Speaking of keys, those terrible butterfly keyboards are gone for a more traditional and satisfying switch-style design. At the end of the day, the daily workload that most people use their computers for can be done for cheaper and with less physical weight that the MacBook Air provides in the 2020 M1 setup. Unless you're a big fan of the Touch Bar, might need the fans for rare thermal throttling during those long 4K video exports, or just get it at a really good deal, look at the 2020 MacBook Air instead...or move up to the 2021 MacBook Pro M1-Pro series for a true "Pro" experience.

[Rewarded Review] Refurbished Treasure: 2020 GSRF MacBook Pro
15 April 2024

I recently took the plunge and bought a refurbished MacBook Pro from BestBuy, and let me tell you, it's been a great experience! I was initially hesitant, but the value proposition was too good to ignore. Now, after almost 2 weeks of using it, I can confidently say it's been an amazing experience.Performance:This 2020 M1 powered MacBook Pro is a true powerhouse. I’m not a new Mac user and hence knew everything that I would expect from a MacBook. The M1 chip is incredibly fast, and the 8GB RAM keeps everything running smoothly. The Retina display is absolutely gorgeous, with stunning clarity and vivid colors.Battery Life:The battery life on this refurbished MacBook Pro is far better than I anticipated. The Retina display is absolutely gorgeous, with stunning clarity and vivid colors.Battery Life:The battery life on this refurbished MacBook Pro is far better than I anticipated. I easily get a full day's work done on a single charge, This is a huge upgrade from my previous laptop, which constantly needed to be plugged in.Value:Going refurbished was a fantastic decision. I saved a significant amount of money compared to buying a brand new model, and the performance is practically indistinguishable. The fact that it came with a Geek-Squad warranty gave me extra peace of mind.Overall Satisfaction:Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my refurbished MacBook Pro. It's a fantastic machine that delivers exceptional performance, amazing battery life, and all at a fraction of the cost of a new one.Oh…did I forget to mention the condition in which I received it? You can’t tell the difference from a brand new once it’s out of the box. There was no scratch or any other deficineny that I could point fingers at.If you're on the fence about going refurbished, I highly recommend it!Personal Advice (not a disclaimer):I've purchased Geek-Squad refurbished products from Best Buy in past too and they have not let me down so far in my decisions. Just do your own research before you buy as each product is created different and every used product may not be truly Geek Squad Certified Refurbished (GSRF). So look out carefully the product notes clearly mentioning the GSRF label before you move forward. Happy hunting!
