I was given an old late 2009 Macbook Pro with after I repaired, needed a charger/power adapter. This one is the correct choice for this Model Macbook Pro and works exactly as its supposed too. Very satisfied with this product and recommend it for anyone who has a 2009 15" screen Macbook pro don't mess around with cheap copies if you want to get the best out of Macbook Pro.

Feels cheap. Definitely not genuine Apple product.

I've done some research, and I can tell you this definitely isn't a genuine apple charger. The Magsafe plug housing is plastic, not metal; the power brick feels cheap; the LED turns on imediately after plugging it in, and has has a delay until it turns off when you unplug it. Only got it today, so I can't judge its reliabilty yet, but it seems to be working okay. For the price though, you may as well just buy a genuine charger.

The adaptor fell on the floor and the cabling detached itself from its container housing. No choice for replacement and item has not been improved in spite of feedback of same nature as mine for Apple to take account of. In store on day in question. Helpful staff support from John Lewis team when we rang in to organise collection of said item. Apple could be more responsive.

Necessary replacement for inferior Apple product

I had to replace the adapter that came with my original MacBook Pro, as the copper wires had become exposed and, in fact, the cable sleeve had melted due to overheating. Doing my research I discovered 16 pages of complaints from customers on the Apple website, but I had no real alternative, other than buying a new laptop. This is not a criticism of John Lewis, just a reflection of my disappointment with Apple.

Pros: Great functional design, the wires can be stored around the product and be carried tidy and untangled. The MagSafe adapter attaches as the name suggests magnetically to your MacBook so if for some reason the wire is restricted it detaches easily without pulling your laptop with it. It’s simply that the material isn’t able to withstand reasonable regular daily stress of use, it’s brilliant white covering is great at staying untangled but Apple need to find a different material for all their power cables that can stand reasonable daily use for many years. And unfortunately there is no alternative because the company create their own MacBook attachments that are are available no where else.

Not long lasting, but neccesarry

It's too bad that Apple does not make their laptop chargers more durable. I've just had to replace a similar MagSafe after just a few years of light usage. A quick internet search suggests that they wear in a similar area and it's a common problem. It's either go with Apple or buy an much more inferior and potentially risky product. The extended cable is very helpful though. I'm glad to purchase with John Lewis as the warranty is unrivalled and local collection is very easy.

Pros: Fairly sure this is a brand new power adapter even though it says refurbished. Came in complete apple pacakging. Works perfectly. Cons: Like all apple accessories is priced high but this refurbished version was the best deal I could find on the real thing.

not genuine charger

bought one of these, on arrival the box seemed to be too light to be a genuine apple product, on opening the box it contained a very small charger, no mains lead or plug adaptor as would you receive from apple. on further inspection even though the box says 85w charger on all the main printing, the actual label on the box states it is a 45w power supply for mac book air. i have now purchased a genune apple charger and the differences in packaging are quite noticable including no chinese labels.
