If you can find the 1TB on sale I suggest you pick it up and don’t look back.

As far as I can tell it appeared to be like brand new... or maybe a factory second. Runs like a charm. The actual size of the IPad is perfect for her to handle. It was easy to set up using her Apple I-D and now she has all the items and Apps her damaged one had, with more capacity for her to download more of her favorite Apps. Strongly advise a high quality protective pad cover for travel, but I have no need of the cam built into the pad. I lso like that I can watch tv anywhere thru my wifi connection to my home based tv service - giving me access to important classes online, or checking on the latest in Nat Geo and history channels, or classic movies and sports events on the go.

Everything expected from the latest iPad except cover auto lock not working
8 December 2018

This latest iPad is really what I expected except the case cover auto lock is not working; not a deal breaker but just an inconvenience for me knowing that it should be working. I thought it was a bug in iOS 12.1 but still not working with 12.1.1, so at this point I’m not sure if it’s iOS or hardware issue.A couple of items I like about this model are the Face ID and full screen (almost). Touch ID was nice but I’m getting used to the Face ID real fast. I’ve read somewhere that the Face ID wasn’t working properly in complete darkness but I didn’t notice that issue at all because the light from the screen is enough to illuminate the face. The visible screen goes up to about 8mm from the bezel which makes the 11” screen size whereas the physical screen is about 1’. ... MoreThis latest iPad is really what I expected except the case cover auto lock is not working; not a deal breaker but just an inconvenience for me knowing that it should be working. The visible screen goes up to about 8mm from the bezel which makes the 11” screen size whereas the physical screen is about 1’. This enables the iPad Pro screen noticeably bigger/wider than the iPad without being bigger in total dimension, which also makes the screen aspect ratio wider to 1.43 rather than 1.33 (4:3) of iPad.The battery capacity is another big plus; despite the latest and greatest processor, the charge normally lasts the whole week for me, same as iPad, with a daily usage. In my opinion the iPad is as good as the Pro version, especially if you don’t care for any of the above improvements, but it only takes a few new features/improvements that keep us moving forward without looking back.

Everything is great except a cover auto lock doesn’t work
11 December 2018

Initially I thought it was a bug in iOS 12.1 but even after 12.1.1, a cover auto lock is not working. Never mind a cover; it should trigger with a piece of magnet but nothing yet. So still not sure what the issue is but I just hope that it’s not related to hardware. This is really not a deal breaker for me but yes it’s an inconvenience, especially knowing that it should be working. The bigger/wider 11” (1.43 aspect ratio) full screen is really nice rather than 9.7” (1.33 aspect ratio) of iPad, whereas the physical size are same 1’ for both iPads. The “full” or “edge to edge” screen actually goes only up to 8mm from the bezel with rounded corners following the contours which I don’t care for it but it’s there. The Face ID is another new feature in the iPad family ... MoreInitially I thought it was a bug in iOS 12.1 but even after 12.1.1, a cover auto lock is not working. Touch ID was pretty useful but don’t miss it and not looking back. The light from the screen is enough to activate the Face ID even in complete darkness. Just in case if you’re not familiar with the Face ID... it only works if your eyes are open and even with eyeglasses.Even with the latest & greatest processor (which normally draws more current) the battery capacity is pretty good too, I’d say it lasts same as the iPad per charge or even longer.Another difference from the previous models is usb type c connector instead of lightning. This only means a different cable for me, nothing else matter since in the backend it’s all usb anyway. The only thing I’d have liked, only as a personal preference, is that the supplied cable to be usb a to usb c, not usb c on both ends.Another improvement is the 12 mp camera, but this also means nothing to me since mp has nothing to do with the overall picture quality. Unless we’re going to zoom in and count all the pixels of excitement, 8 mp would be more than enough resolution for most of us even for very large prints. If you want to take a better pictures, the very first thing to do is to ignore what the manufactures tell you and focus on yourself and the subject instead. No cameras ever walk around by themselves clicking pictures.4 built in speakers (2 in each side while holding landscape) is another nice feature and gives you extra stereo listening option while reading something. The sound quality is pretty good from these tiny speakers; just perfect for personal enjoyment in a quiet place.I think there are a quite a few improvements and some new features compared to previous models and I’m very happy with it, but no, i don’t feel like it’s a life changing product. If you can afford it, I believe you’ll like it a lot if you get one. If not, the iPad would be as good as the Pro edition. For most of us either editions would provide us what we want/need without huge gain or lose. It really comes down to which one would make us happier considering how much more we would be piling up on top of the existing debt.

Evolution!

Excellent quality, ulta portable.
11 January 2019

After deciding on the 11" 256GB model I have been using the IPad Pro with the second generation Apple Pencil for a month. I chose this model due to its portability in it's weight and processing power enabling it to run multiple apps smoothly. The lack of a home button would initially be missed but quickly I learnt the new gestures and found them to be an improvement and increased speed of movement around the operating system (which IOS12 comes pre installed). Of course the removal of this physical button allows the 'edge to edge' display increasing its size from 10.5" to 11" while keeping almost then same shell size as the previous IPad Pro model, but decreasing the weight and thickness hugely, while still ensuring the product retains the premium quality you'd ... MoreAfter deciding on the 11" 256GB model I have been using the IPad Pro with the second generation Apple Pencil for a month. The device comes with 4 grills of speakers creating stereo sound perfect for movies, games amd music. It also has a good battery which can easily last a day sometimes 2, also it comes with a fast charger in the box which has a higher wattage than the last model. Lastly it comes with apple's new port USB-C which is sometimes referred to as apples new 'money spinner'. However this new reversible port, supports a variety of different protocols such as HDMI great for connecting the iPad to an external moniter. There are some negatives to the iPad Pro 2. Firstly, due to its lighter and thinner shell, it is much more fragile and without a stronger case, you run the risk of bending or snapping it meaning an expensive repair or perhaps replacement. This is partly due to the placement of the microphone meaning a crack could propagate from the microphone. Also the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack means without an adapter the only way to output sounds, other than the speakers, is using bluetooth.Overall if you have the money to spend and are looking for a new, more portable workhorse, this could be for you.

Good with one caveat
18 August 2021

Have an Ipad air 2 which was getting a bit long in the tooth, so bought this. As youd expect, clearer graphics, faster response tine and bigger memory as well as being lighter. All evolutionary improvements with nothing revolutionary. However, the loss of a physical home button is a retrograde step. Closing down apps on the newer IPads is clunky, unreliable and counter intuitive. While it doesnt make the Ipad a bad machine, it does smack of thatll do from Apple.

The best iPad I ever had

I decided to purchase from John Lewis because of their long warranty. But also the price was very low at that time. Nowhere else was any sale and John Lewis made it cheaper. i had a lot of iPads since day one but this one is one of my favourites one so far! Great dynamics, very fast and charging in under an hour to 100% and also even the camera is simply superb, even better than my iPhone 8 Plus :)It was a little hard for me to adjust to a larger screen 11 inch because I always was using iPad minis. I don't need a lot because I also have MacBook Pro. So I can easily back up or transfer files between the devices. If you're still thinking whether to get 11 inch or 12.9 I would say 11 is a nice size and quiet big too!

Very Powerful, Portable and Efficient

First off, I own 4 types of iPad. iPad 6th Gen 9.7”, iPad Pro 9.7, iPad Pro 12.9 and finally iPad Pro 11. I love the iPad Pro 11 for its portability, quick, efficient processor and sleek design. I also have the “Magic Keyboard” which makes it flexible for other features such as word processing, and the trackpad is a nice addition.IMHO, Apple should consider designing the 12” iPad Pro as I believe this would be the perfect size between 12.9 (love it for it’s Big screen but not as portable) and slightly bigger than the iPad Pro 11 as I notice it’s still a bit small and the magic keyboard buttons for the “Dash & Plus” buttons are too narrow. Anyone with large fingers will definitely have trouble reaching for it. I’m Asian with average slender fingers and occasionally hit the wrong button even though I type everyday as I work in the office. With the screen size slightly larger, the keyboard button will have that extra room to enlarge, reducing chance of mistype. The processor for this iPad Pro 11 1st Gen is exceptional and very fast when I use it to transfer my GoPro Hero 7 Black Videos and Photos onto my iPad. This is by far my favourite go to model. I do however enjoy Using my older 2nd Gen iPad Pro 12.9 for it’s size especially when I need a larger real estate split screen to simultaneously work on photos and chat with families and friends. The iPad Pro 11 Is consider too small when i use the split screen. This is why i need to go to the 12.9. So, for those of you that are considering this size, I recommend getting both if you can afford it. I made my first leapt by buying a used iPad Pro 12.9 and now the New iPad Pro 11. I have the best of both worlds. So, if you enjoy portability, fast processing power, and gorgeous design, I’d say buy the iPad Pro 11.If you need a larger screen, then go with the 12.9 iPad Pro and get the Magic Keyboard as well. I assure you, you won’t be disappointed! Both models and size are very good. However, I believe the best of both worlds lies in between the two and I’d LOVE it if Apple would make a 12 inch size model. This would be the BEST of the two!
