Apple continues to create cables that conform to the Lightning standard despite Universal Serial Bus Generation 4 Type-C defeating it in every possible way. For instance, the maximum speed that Lightning is able to transfer information at is 3662.11 mebibits per second, whereas for USB4 Version 2, it is 76293.9 mebibits per second. Additionally, Lightning is able to provide a maximum of approximately 27 watts. USB4 is able to provide 240 watts. The actual cable is equally as abysmal comparative to its competitors, because its connector is not plated with gold or silver to prevent oxidation, nor is its cable SFTP shielded to prevent interference, nor is its cable braided to prevent breakage. The last attribute is the most important to me, because all of my cables ... As described, delivered on time and work perfectly. The cables themselves are a little on the short side and quite thin, but excellent value for the price paid and should last a reasonable length of time. Very good value for money. I am happy with this cable, it does the job. Much better value than others. The delivery was prompt and the quality is great. I've ordered some more of these and some other stuff too"A very good cable. The iPhone xr and iPad Air 2 we have in the house work perfectly. It's short enough to keep the counter clear yet long enough so we can comfortably charge the devices on the counter. There is only one reason I did not give it five stars. Since the other Lightning cables were so cheap, I lost money on each. It's definitely worth the money, even though it's twice as expensive as most of the other cables on our list."

If you own an Apple device, I highly recommend you buy these OEM Charging Cables. I purchased this for my Uncle who owns the Apple iPhone 12, and he has had so many third party Lightning Cables dating back to the Multiple iPhones he's had (iPhone SE, iPhone 7, and iPhone SE), and like Clock work they always get damaged. It's really not worth the reduced cost buying a cheaper 3rd party cable when it's going to be damaged 3 or 4 times faster than an OEM Cable. All 3rd party cables he buys seem to always have a problem on the USB A side where the Cable becomes detached. Overall, it might be a bit more expensive, but trust me, it's not worth the hassle buying a 3rd party charger only for it to break on you, forcing you to have to buy another charger again. My car dealer was adamant that the Apple brand cables seemed to be the only ones that didnt cause issues accessing Apple Car Play. Just the right length can extend and shorten and is well made like I expected. Very reliable like always. The extra money over a generic is well spent when I factor in how many generic cables I have purchased and had to replace. Happy with purchase and wld consider other Apple Brand accessories as well.
Purchased this Apple lightning cable at Target, and straight out of the box, it never worked. I tried it at my office, did not work on any plug, outlet, computer. I took it home to try it at home, and it did not work. For some bizarre reason, Target won't take returns after 15 days even if completely defective right out of the box. I never expected this return had to be made in 15 days, as most stores give 60 days to return an item, especially if it was broken and never worked. POOR customer service, shame on Target and shame on Apple.
I'm not sure how many of these I've purchased over the last decade. Most I give away to friends who lose or wear-out their cables. I tend to take care of them, coiling them and putting them in a ziplock in my travel bag, so for me they last indefinitely.Once they break, I can usually fix them once, soldering the conductors and finishing with two layers of heat shrink...some of those become my favourite cables as they never break again, and are now color-coded! Still, I'm not sure that's a ringing endorsement for the original quality, given their cost. There is an IC chip in the Lightning end of the cable, which causes the connector on that end to warm-up. Given this heat and the small mass of the connector, it eventually breaks. You can help prevent this but not ... MoreI'm not sure how many of these I've purchased over the last decade. Given this heat and the small mass of the connector, it eventually breaks. You can help prevent this but not leaving your devices plugged-in longer than needed to charge or transfer images, etc. Coil the cable up. Don't sit on it. It's a cable...they will wear out over time. I just wish the OEM version was a little less expensive. The mass production of these over the last decade still has not lead to the normal 'bathtub curve' of cost reduction, as with most mature products. Also, I've used several after-market cables which are just as reliable, although I like the rubberized outer jacket of this cable, as it just seems to want to coil itself.Generally, I recommend friends buy at least a couple of OEM Apple cables, perhaps one 3' (1m) and one 6' (2m).
You will need a USB type C wall (or car) adapter of 18W. My choice for the USB C wall adapter was also the Apple 18 watt version. According to my memory, it works for all iPhone models starting with the 6s. My iPhone SE (2nd generation) is equipped with it. As with all my reviews, I really hope this helps. Cheers!"It's worth the money. Works perfectly with the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 we have in the house. It's short enough to avoid clutter while being long enough to let us place the devices comfortably on the counter as they charge. Four stars rather than five only because I don't think I can "love" a cable. Purchased to replace the included charging cable for an iPhone 7 Plus purchased in fall of 2018, which physically deteriorated after 3+ years of charging use. It doesn't seem to work quite as well as the cable it replaced. It charges as expected when connected, but I've found that the Lightning end is prone to connectivity issues and it typically means that I have to plug it in, set the phone down, double-check to make sure it is still charging, and then not touch it. I have had a few instances with this cable where it was initially verified as being connected and charging, but then coming back overnight or after a couple of hours expecting a full battery -- surprise! -- not connected and not charging. I understand it could be attributed to general wear and tear of ... I have had a few instances with this cable where it was initially verified as being connected and charging, but then coming back overnight or after a couple of hours expecting a full battery -- surprise! -- not connected and not charging. I understand it could be attributed to general wear and tear of the port on the phone and can't rule out that a similar issue with the original cable wasn't also happening as the wire deteriorated, but I'm also cognizant of the manufactured obsolescence of personal electronics where 2-3 years is the general lifespan where you are either replacing the device or the cabling. So it goes. I'd still rather purchase the Apple cable over a third-party version.
Stops Working. We have bought the cords time and time again. Each one breaks. Some don’t work immediately. Some work for a month. I’m exhausted mentally and financially from replacing Apple charging cords. You never know when it will work or when it will stop working forever. Do not buy unless you’re okay with buying a new one monthly and still possibly getting one that breaks immediately. You’ll be stranded somewhere without a way to charge your phone. We ALL need to file a report to make them refund us our monies and provide a product that works.
There is a saying that “there’s nothing like the real thing, baby as well as a song by Aretha Franklin from decades ago 1974 to be exact. That’s the case of the iPhone 3 ft. cable cords I purchased recently at Best Buy, The real deal, for sure Lightning to USB. I bought two of them; one for each apple device that I own. I felt it was the way to go and pay more than the usual ones people get for a small fraction of the cost. So far so good. I’m always satisfied with every product the store sells. And I accumulate points to boot. Now, how cool is that? I highly recommend the original iPhone replacement cords to anyone who needs them. They certainly last a long time as long as one is careful with them.
