The mac mini is great for a small low profile computer that sits discretely on the desk. It is not the most graphically powerful device so not the best for gaming if that is your thing. It is great for everything else though. The internal speakers are woeful, extremely tinny, so best connected to an external speaker set. It does require a screen, mouse and keyboard of course. You dont have to use apple screen or keyboard/mouse. It can be attached to a suitable tv which what makes it great as an entertainment device in the living room and as main or back up device for a home office.

I had an iMac 2013 which I finally decided to upgrade as I couldn't get any new updates for the OS. I decided to go for a Mac mini this time as the iMac are a lot more than I wanted to pay. I also bought a Dell 27" S2722QC which goes great with the mini. The Mac mini M2 processor is so quick , i didn't realise how slow my old iMac was until i started using the mini. The migration didn't take too long overall and now I have a super fast computer for all the creative programs I use. I was worried about my wireless apple keyboard and magic trackpad not working great with the bluetooth on the Mac mini but the work seamlessly. Another great product from Apple to work alongside all the other products I own.

I bought the pro 12/19 core version with 16 gigs of RAM, which is essentially the same system as the 16 MacBook Pro that I have. To that end, I knew exactly what to expect. I learned quickly that the ability to do all the things in DaVinci Resolve was possible with this configuration, with plenty of computing breathing room. But I don't like to do a lot of long-form editing on the laptop because of hard drive space, so the Mini allows me to plug in silly fast NVMe drives via Thunderbolt 4. Scrubbing timelines is butter smooth, even with color grading and compositing. You need to pack in a few layers before you can really bog it down, but I imagine that for 95% of editing, you can enjoy it at full resolution without proxies. It was a toss-up between this and PC ... MoreI bought the pro 12/19 core version with 16 gigs of RAM, which is essentially the same system as the 16 MacBook Pro that I have. If you're an indie guy or work with small budgets, this is an easy decision.

This M2 Pro Mini (16GB / 1 TB) replaced a "family use" 2015 Intel iMac that was maddeningly slow - no matter what I did to improve it. I also have a Mac M1 Max Studio with 32GB etc etc. And this little Mini feels as fast; apps, photos, videos, (most) websites and documents seem to open as quickly. It's a bit slower on a number of Photoshop and Davinci routines, but at less than 1/2 the price of the Studio, it's entitled. As always, best performance is produced with native Mac OS versions of apps. (Avoid Rosetta.) And it's barely warm after heavy use. This is the best Apple and Mac value since I bought the first ones for our businesses in 1984!
This is the third Mac mini and my second Apple Silicon Mac. After two weeks of use, I can confidently say that this is the best out of all of the desktop Macs I have owned. The last desktop Mac was a 2017 5K iMac. I have this Mac mini connected to two LG Ultrafine 4K displays. It drives both of them very well. I can run Photoshop, and VMs running in Parallels Desktop easily without any fan noise. I don't notice any slow downs in the overall use of the system while running these high memory and high CPU/GPU apps. This thing is a real work horse. I highly recommend it.
This is my 3rd Mac Mini - I previously had 2006 and late 2014 models. So I was already well aware of how stable and well-engineered these systems are. The extra power and speed of the M2 - Icing on the cake. Based on my experience with Apple's software updates, which are pretty much required and always add additional stress to existing system resources - I'm sure I'll be glad that I opted for 16GM of memory. You have to plan ahead because memory is now soldered in and is NOT expandable. Every Apple computer I ever owned had to eventually be replaced due to HW resources not being able to keep up with SW updates. I never had to replace one for any type of HW failure.I was a little disappointed that Apple went from 4 to 2 USB ports, and added 2 Thunderbolt-4 ports ... MoreThis is my 3rd Mac Mini - I previously had 2006 and late 2014 models. And like most users, I'm using HDMI for video. I had to add a 10-port powered USB hub to take care of my existing - keyboard, mouse, scanner, CD/DVD reader/writer, external SSD drive for Time Machine, webcam, and for charging and syncing other devices (watch, iPhone, iPad, DAP, etc.).So it's a great 5-star computer, with a star taken off for - The lack of expandability/scalability of memory, and the lack of USB support.
My computer for the last 10 years has been a 2011 Mac Mini which served me very well. It was time for an upgrade as I could no longer upgrade the OS and various of my programs. Also being a senior citizen I'm on a budget. So when I saw this 2018 Mini with Core i3, 3.6 GHz and 128GB SSD at a reasonable price I jumped in. Not being a techie I'm a little challenged in set up and so forth, but it turned out to be very simple to load my files from my back-up Time Machine drive. My problem came when I tried to upgrade from Mohave the system it came with to Big Sur. After two hours of loading in the software, it told me I didn't have enough room to install! Yikes, what now. My mind ran to getting another external drive for all my files, etc. so I could leave the Mini as my boot drive. Fortunately, I called Apple Support first. They were extremely helpful and enabled me to compress and delete extraneous files to free up space. Big Sur (System 11) then installed seamlessly and the system runs like a top. I'm very pleased. It will serve me well. I would advise heavier users than me to get a bigger SSD drive or plan to buy a much cheaper external drive if you're a gamer or video editor as the 128GB version won't be enough for your needs. I love my Mini!
As a multimedia producer who mainly does video shorts and photography, I was kind of skeptical of this base model since I came from using a suped-up PC with 32GB RAM and tons of hard drive space so I decided to read and watch a lot of online reviews. My setup is the Mac Mini M2 Pro with a Logitech K380 Mac keyboard, Logi Mac pebble mouse, and a 32 TCL HD TV as monitor.I can tell you after owning this little machine for a few weeks now they should have named it Mac Studio Jr. The base model here (16GB RAM and 512GB storage) hasn't been an issue here at all (I do use 1 and 2 GB external pro SSD drives). If anything it's probably just the right amount. The Mac Mini has stayed cool throughout all my endeavors and is blazing fast, even outdoing my old editing station. ... MoreAs a multimedia producer who mainly does video shorts and photography, I was kind of skeptical of this base model since I came from using a suped-up PC with 32GB RAM and tons of hard drive space so I decided to read and watch a lot of online reviews. I mainly shoot 1080P for 2-10 minute video shorts, but it's handled multiple 4K video tracks effortlessly. I also bought the USB-C media reader from Apple for importing photos and video from my Sandisk cards.Blazing fast. I know I have made the right choice. Could not be happier and I am glad I made the move back to Apple.
What a perfect little powerhouse! I was recommended this version of the Mac Mini by an Apple Store employee who suggested I buy from Adorama. It's really rad that Adorama stocks these custom builds and ships so quickly! The order arrived perfectly packaged with all needed parts and no damage, and it arrived super fast.Since Apple doesn't stock these types of builds, I strongly recommend you grab your Mac Mini from Adorama if you want a more powerful machine within a few days rather than a few weeks. The customer service was also amazing. I wasn't aware of the rewards program until after I placed my order, and being the penny pinching vulture that I am, I reached out to see if I could retroactively have the purchase points added to my account. This is still a great computer. I'm a little tech enthusiast and bought this for my teenage daughter. After receiving the Mac Mini, I opened the device and installed a NVMe SSD adapter inside. Above the power connector, there's an empty slot that can fit said adapter (easy to find on eBay); a 500GB SSD from Kingston, new thermal paste, a good cleaning with compressed air and it's good to go. A total investment of ~$90 USD got me a more than decent desktop from Apple. The machine can be updated to MacOS Monterey and it feels very snappy for doing homework, office tasks, light photo editing, internet browsing, media consumption... It's not a powerhouse by any means but for the price, It's a far better option than any 2-in-1 Pentium BS computers sold out there. She ... MoreThis is still a great computer.
