I delayed upgrading my 2011 MacBook for far too long, and then its GPU failed, so it was time. Right away, the speed of large file transfers over Thunderbolt 3 is a huge upgrade. I was worried about losing all my ports, but with this model having 4 Thunderbolt-3 / USB-C ports, I haven't ever found myself with too few ports. Not really in "dongle h*ll" as I feared I would be. Happy to report the keyboard on this model feels really nice... much better than the MacBook Pros from a couple of years ago. Video rendering speed in Premiere is nothing to sneeze at... glad I sprang for the RAM and Storage upgrades. This is the last model intel, and I was initially torn between this and the new M1 given the speed increase people are reporting with the M1, but ultimately being ... We received this product and it came with an off-brand third party power adapter that is lightweight and flimsy. It also lacked both the manual, the box for the laptop and the apple logo stickers that normally come with it. While the latter is a small matter i thought to include it to show that this product is lazily built and doesn't come with all that it should. The laptop itself has some nicks and scratches but that is to be expected from an open box product. (Should also be noted that while i am in Canada the item shipped from America) This product is falsely advertised at the time of this review, be aware the peripherals you receive may not reflect the item listing. Best buy has provided a small compensation for the inconvenience.
Pros: The Battery life is good for a small computer. usability overall is easy, and fun. The device is practical in terms of usage and functionality. I CPU runs various applications to a good standard. Yes, this is possibly the best laptop I have ever bought or used.I would recommend this to anyone in need of music Daws; Cubase, Pro Tools. Cons: I had to buy a Usb 3.0 converter in order to use a standard USB 2.0. This was a minor usual extra which is fair enough due to the sleek size of the computer.

The macbook I have has 16Gb of memory at a speed of 1866 MHz; which is more than enough to handle any task I throw at it. It's a Dual core i7 processor with a speed of 3.1 Ghz. The hard drive it comes with is a SSD 512Gb which is great. I decided to upgrade mine to a 500Gb WD Black NVME drive (WDS500G2X0C). You don't have to worry about your computer being loaded with a bunch of bloatware when you purchase an apple computer and these computers are built to last. This is my 2nd macbook pro. My older model (mid 2012) I have had for over 6 years now and it still performs as well if not better than many competing laptops on the market today.
Apple's newer security is also a limiting liability. The T2 chips in the newer Intel Macs impose serious restrictions in the name of security. Of course as the average user - we have no idea if we are actually getting better security OR if Apple is just leveraging more control as they did when they purposely slowed older iPhones. More security probably good; more control from the corporate level definitely NOT good! After getting past the constraints of the T2 security; setting the options so that they best suit my work style; the Macbook Pro has performed flawlessly. Interestingly, though, peripherals are an issue, Although the Macbook Pro has four (4) Thunderbolt 3 ports; their capacity is limited. When purchasing a quality computer I expect it to last for longer than a mere 8 years at the cost of £250/year, with the additional environmental cost of the waste of expensive and irreplaceable materials. I hope this version will last longer or that "Apple" will provide a sustainable repair service. I hope they will be paying attention to COP 26.

Purchased exactly the same model but NEW, unused, sealed but very slight damage to the box. On arrival I attempted to charge and again, exactly the same problem as the refurb grade A machine, the battery was faulty. Must be a faulty batch, although reading various reviews it would appear some macbooks do have battery issues. On a positive note, the macbook did feel good quality build, the screen quality was excellent when it was running from the mains power supply, but just let down by the battery issues. I say I would not recommend it, but that is because I received two macbooks and both ... This item arrived in a timely fashion and was in good condition with only a few scratches and very very minor delamination on the screen (hardly noticeable even when the screen is off and definitely not while it's on). The system is very snappy and the battery life is great for a used 7 year old item. I'd estimate I'm getting about 5 to 6 hrs use on a single charge when doing regular tasks. I'm a first time Apple user and so far I'm very impressed with the durability and premium feel of the item. If I didn't already know it there's no way I could tell this was a 7 year old unit. There's no way you can go wrong with this purchase.
