It may look cool and futuristic, but the functionality is terrible. Had this model in college classrooms and I would often bring my own mouse instead. Magic Mouse is so flat it's hard to drag it across a mouse pad, it feels like it gets stuck often because you have to put extra effort in moving it. The buttons are uncomfortable to press and are unsatisfying. The absence of button separation can make you misclick. The fact you have to plug the cord into the bottom and can't use it while charging is an abomination. Just nope

In terms of design, the upgraded version of this mouse has not changed too much compared to the previous generation. Nevertheless, it is still considered the best-designed mouse model at present. The glossy white glass on top of the aluminum block, combined with its thin and lightweight design and seamless lines, make it a sleek and elegant device. Additionally, the Apple logo is present on both the top and back of the Magic Mouse. Its design is unique in that it features no buttons, rollers, or batteries, which makes it significantly lighter than other options. This is the primary advantage of the Magic Mouse 2.

Absolutely Worth It
10 February 2021

I wasn't sure if this mouse was worth the extra dollars just because it had the Apple name. I was wrong. Besides being sleek and light, it is extremely intuitive with all of the gestures. Battery life so far seems to be great. I don't anticipate having to constantly worry about plugging it up to charge as it appears to hold it's charge for a long time.Minor note to anyone that has the new MacBook Pros with only USB-C ports...you will have to either get an adapter to be able to plug this in to your MB or purchase a USB-C to Lightening cable if you don't already have one. I already had the latter so I had no issues doing the initial pair nor will I have any issues if I want to charge it via my MB or charging adapter that is USB-C versus USB-A.To address the ... MoreI wasn't sure if this mouse was worth the extra dollars just because it had the Apple name. I already had the latter so I had no issues doing the initial pair nor will I have any issues if I want to charge it via my MB or charging adapter that is USB-C versus USB-A.To address the difference in the white option versus this space gray one....as mentioned by others, the only difference is the color and the inexplicable price premium on the space gray one. Ultimately the choice will be based on color preference and whether you want to save a little.I've also noticed in the questions section some people giving incorrect info on if this can be used on the iPad Pro. It absolutely can on the eligible versions (I know for sure it works with the iPad Pro 11 2nd Gen and iPad Pro 12 4th Gen). It does appear though that if you switch between the MB and iPad Pro you will have to go into bluetooth settings and reconnect the mouse for it to work. Not a huge deal but it may be something that bothers some users. You do not however have to go through the pair process again (meaning you don't have to connect the mouse via sync cable to make it pair like you do at first use).Overall, I definitely think the Magic Mouse 2 is a great accessory to add to your arsenal. Learning the gestures if you aren't already familiar with them is pretty simple and if nothing else...Apple does a great job of making their ecosystem just work seamlessly together.

Best Mouse ever If you love Apple Products
8 September 2021

Here’s the reality: You’ll love this mouse if you love Apple products. You will enjoy this product if your one of those consumers that want to only use “official products” from whatever company you are purchasing from. This is a gorgeous mouse that will pair with your Apple product right out of the box with such ease that it does feel like “magic.” I love it every time I use it and look at it, gorgeous mouse. The bad: The charging port is underneath the mouse so you can’t charge and use it at the same time. It hardly matters because you only need to charge it once a month (and that’s with heavy use) but it is odd. The offset to this is that you can charge it for 2 minutes and get a half hour use so it doesn’t really disrupt your work flow.If you don’t care about ... MoreHere’s the reality: You’ll love this mouse if you love Apple products. Complete lack of ergonomics, poor customization
7 September 2020

It pains me to say it, but this is perhaps the worst mouse I've used in 30 years of computing. It's not without merit -- it's built very well, it looks great on your desk next to your other Apple products, and holds a charge extremely well -- but the buck stops there.Ergonomics are simply non-existent. It's fine if you simply rest your entire hand over the hump, but I've never met anyone that uses a mouse in this fashion. Once you adjust your grip (whichever that may be,) you start to run into the perils of form over function. The glass edges are not beveled/smooth enough to prevent discomfort if you wrap your thumb and pinky fingers around the sides. Claw grip becomes almost mandatory due to the placement of the hump and the mouse's overall short length.Almost ... MoreIt pains me to say it, but this is perhaps the worst mouse I've used in 30 years of computing. The glass edges are not beveled/smooth enough to prevent discomfort if you wrap your thumb and pinky fingers around the sides. Claw grip becomes almost mandatory due to the placement of the hump and the mouse's overall short length.Almost all MacOS-specific gestures work on the surface of this mouse, but due to its small size, the pinching and swiping gestures are extremely awkward. You have the choice of either attempting the gesture without loosening your grip (leads to numerous failed input attempts) or simply removing your entire hand from the mouse to perform them, which is challenging in its own way, as the mouse slides around your desk. It's a complete downgrade from gesturing on the trackpad. The nail in the coffin for me was how little customization there is for mice inherent in macOS. The maximum sensitivity still leaves something to be desired. You cannot disable pointer acceleration. I'll repeat that... you cannot disable pointer acceleration. Don't like your (lack of) options? You need to buy a third party application to customize any further, and who knows if a future macOS update will temporarily render it useless?I got a refund on this mouse within my 14-day return window. I tried and tried, but this is a miserable mouse. To think, I thought I was upping my workflow efficiency by ditching the trackpad! To give it a break, I was nowhere close to needing to recharge it beforehand. Get literally anything else -- it probably won't look as nice on your desk, but it's all uphill from there.

The original Magic Mouse I had was destroyed after being frustrated with it staying connected to my computer, the bottom plate constantly falling off and it overally being too touchy. At least I could replace the batteries. The mouse itself works great. I use it heavily and I find I need to charge it maybe every 6 weeks. Over time, the non-replaceable battery will not last that long so for $80+, that can be a valid gripe. The other issue is that the surface supports Apple's Gestures to an extend, which sometimes causes me some problems as I often will have fingers on the click-area surface that invoke gesture-functions. This comes from ages of using Apple's older 1-button mouse(think the ADB ones back from 1986 and beyond!) and traditional 2-button PC mice. This comes from ages of using Apple's older 1-button mouse(think the ADB ones back from 1986 and beyond!) and traditional 2-button PC mice. These days, the addition of a scroll wheel is a nice addition. This mouse supports those scrolling functions too.Honestly, quality and construction is a 5. Ideally weighted and balanced, great action across a mousepad(don't use it on a table, get a mouse pad, seriously!). The mouse performs wonderfully, it's just not an ideal mouse for myself since I'm constantly getting strange things because I don't move my fingers OFF the "click" area. Because of this issue, I'd rather rate the mouse 4.75 stars rather than bump down to a 4.I also have issues using a lot of the gestures functionality. That's something that take getting used to. It is worth the effort. I'm just very much preferential to 2 buttun mouse with scroll wheel. Also, this works just fine on Windows 7 through Windows 11 and Mac OSX Lion to current, but really does best with Mavericks and beyond due to Gestures support.

I wanted to love it
28 November 2020

I want to love this mouse. Like all Apple products there's an undeniable build sophistication that's virtually unparalleled, certainly expected. But this thing just plain feels horrible in the hand. It's awkward to hold, it feels like I'm forced to extend my fingers into an unnatural position to interact with it, so I never feel like I have a good grip on it. If I hold my hand down to my side and relax it, the shape of my fingers should be the shape of the mouse. And since my hands don't naturally form a shape like I'm casting a spell, this doesn't work. All joking aside it makes the gestures, which is the prime attraction of this mouse, feel awkward.Add to that the surprisingly limited configuration of the driver. That means if you let it run out you can't use it while charging. I'm suspecting they didn't want to mar that exquisite shape. Form over function. That said the battery life is said to be incredible so that may not be an issue if the notifications work well. Unfortunately I won't have it long enough to find out I'm sorry to say.I've seen plenty of reviews that speak to these same issues and the great predominance are overwhelmingly positive, so I hoped I would fall into that category. Unfortunately I fall into the apparent minority.

Needs improvements but better than first gen.
8 June 2023

Hopefully Apple will figure out the charge port location next time. I knew this when I purchased it. I just try to charge it when I know it is running low and I won't need to use it. It does charge quickly. My main reason for purchasing the Magic Mouse over other products is for the gestures. I use them constantly with my Mac to switch screens for productivity with work. Have had some connectivity issues, but nothing major.

Packaging?
27 December 2022

This a fine product from Apple. Ordering was quick and simple. I did have some difficulty's after that though. The package was shipped via USPS. It made it's way up to some town in Illinois ( I am in Texas) and got stuck there for 6 days. A phone call to OWC proved fruitless. Of course it was the fault of USPS after OWC mailed it.The other disappointing thing to me was the packaging of the Magic Mouse.Apple goes to great lengths to provide creative, stylish & professional packaging. I was surprised to receive the Magic Mouse in a plain old brown box in bubble wrap with no paperwork or warranty information. Oh well, the Mouse works and looks great!
