In my opinion this jacket truly is the most versatile on the market for the midlayer category. I have personally used this garment in climates ranging from Canadian winters while skiing to rainy Hong Kong springs while reffing lacrosse. It has handled anything ive thrown at it beautifully. I use this jacket year round and am actually on my 2nd iteration of it. If you're in the market for a versatile layering piece that can also perform on its own then look no further than the Arc’teryx Atom Lt!

I'm not usually someone who does reviews, but I bought this jacket in the spring, and I wish I had bought something else. My first complaint is that it shows dirt and grime very quickly, the wrists feel like a ribbon material, and the discolouring comes on quickly. I would not recommend having this jacket as a standalone, which is what I was hoping it would be. You need a Gortex cover; otherwise, this hoodie will look dirty and get torn very quickly. Yesterday a spark touched my sleeve, and it burned a massive hole in no time at all. So it's completely ruined now. Save your money and go with something else. If you want a "hoodie," just buy a hoodie, and get a jacket that's more durable than this.

Warmth: Too little for sedentary activities in conditions lower 30s or below; too much for active pursuits in conditions upper 30s - lower 40s.Windproof: I can feel a light breeze running through this jacket in mid-40s conditions.Water-resistant: This jacket is water-resistant as advertised for light rain.Fits well. I am 5'9" around 155lbs with 32" waist and 39" chest. Enough room for baselayer and midlayer underneath, as I had desired when purchasing this item. There was a light breeze running through camp, but even with this jacket on I felt the chill creeping up my spine. In similar conditions (upper 30s - lower 40s) this jacket is simply too warm when hiking. I would be excited to use it when skiing; however, it lacks the proper ventilation of ski jackets of equivalent warmth. Additionally, when stopping at viewpoints along trails at elevation, I found this jacket insufficient for the breezes I felt there.I am giving this jacket 3 stars because I find it does not outperform similar jackets from other name-brands for equivalent activities.

Full disclosure, I received this as a gift about a year ago. This jacket does a lot of things right. The hood is next level and provides full coverage while also staying out of the way while I’m skiing. My main use case is Nordic skiing and I typically use this jacket as a waxing/waiting over-layer or a primary layer when temps take a dip. The material is stretchy and comfortable. It’s worth mentioning that some reviews have mentioned the fabric not being durable. I haven’t experienced any issues (despite using it with a pack, which seems to be the bane of this jacket) but also don’t doubt the authenticity of those reviews. It’s also worth mentioning that this jacket holds its own but isn’t terribly warm. I’ve been ok with that as I tend to run warm (or opt for my ... MoreFull disclosure, I received this as a gift about a year ago. This jacket does a lot of things right. It’s also worth mentioning that this jacket holds its own but isn’t terribly warm. I’ve been ok with that as I tend to run warm (or opt for my down puffy when temps really drop). However if you run cooler this might not cover as wide a range of conditions as it claims to.I also find it hard to justify this jacket given the price (despite not buying it myself) unless you are a specific customer. If you are looking for a good jacket to keep you warm during the colder months there are solutions that are less expensive or that are more durable/warm for the price. However, if you are looking for a lightweight and synthetic jacket with a well thought out athletic cut and design details (and are willing to accept the durability/quality risk) then this is a strong piece worth considering.
This is my first synthetic jacket I’ve owned and I am overall impressed with the performance! This lightweight synthetic insulation is great to wear as an outer layer on a cool day. The material’s ventilation and wind protection is excellent so far! However, since this jacket is only water resistant, I would recommend wearing this jacket as a mid layer under a rain shell when trekking through anything greater than light rain exposure. Even if the jacket does get wet, it continues to keep me warm and dries and wicks the water out quickly! I would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for an overall warm, lightweight, and breathable jacket that can be worn is most situations!
This is the fourth of these I have purchased for members of my family. We all love them. My son had outgrown his previous jacket and wanted another like it. The weight is light, it can pack down for travel. It spans from a light jacket day to light snow/below freezing. It is comfortable and moves well. The frequency and use these see makes the cost a relative bargain, even if it may look a little steep initially.
It's a beautiful jacket, and a classic for a reason. I've gone hiking with it under a very heavy load in my backpack, in both cold and wet weather. It's extremely breathable while active, and kept my body temperature regulated without any dampness. The hood is well insulated, which I like, but it could use some adjustability to cinch it down better. I would have also liked the ability to stow the hood when not in use. I got this in extra large, which gives me room across the shoulders, but it's not as tapered around the waist as I thought it would be. I have the Atom SL in large, and that's definitely more of a slim fit than the LT; this is probably by design to allow more layering underneath for the LT. I have read about reports and concerns of durability, but I don't see any issue while having worn a very heavy backpack with it.
The moment I start moving I get pretty hot and sweaty. That makes activities like downhill skiing challenging. On a long run (or a powder day) I get really hot going down, then really cold on the chairlift. My GF recommended this product to me. I ended up using a merino base layer, this Atom jacket and a GoreTex shell and it was the perfect combo for skiing in CO and UT. I ended up wearing as a casual jacket too, because it looks great. And for hiking.I've been recommending it to all my friends.
Was always skeptical of this because of the high price tag (it's not that thick so you think "why spend so much money on a relatively thin jacket when a $15 sweatshirt hoody from Walmart would keep me just as warm"). But I found it 30% off so said what the heck. Here's what I really like:- It's surprisingly lighter than a "normal" sweatshirt hoody- It's surprisingly warmer than a "normal" sweatshirt hoody- It's more packable than a "normal" sweatshirt hoody- it feels great against bare skin when only wearing a t-shirt underneath.- it has a DWR coating so light precip beads right off.- the hood as a synch in the back (and it's helmet compatible if you need that...)- the cuffs have stretch material and seal around the wrists well. What I don't like about it: ... MoreWas always skeptical of this because of the high price tag (it's not that thick so you think "why spend so much money on a relatively thin jacket when a $15 sweatshirt hoody from Walmart would keep me just as warm"). I don't wear this around a fire and I'm super careful when near branches or other things that could tear it.I wouldn't pay full price for this, no way, unless there was someway to make it more durable. But on a deal, I've been satisfied so far.
Early this year, I stumbled upon this jacket in store and fell in love with it right away. I always preferred insulated jackets with a slimmer silhouette, so this fit the bill perfectly. I especially liked how there were no seams that you can feel... everything was put together so seamlessly haha. But, I decided to pass on it because of the price tag, hoping it will be discounted later in the year. To my surprise, IT WAS! I bought the green (with the yellow lined hood) and I love it so, so much. I cannot wait to take it on work trips and road trips. If you find it in your size, don't pass it up. You won't regret it!
