LOVE THIS SHOE.I bought these with the intention of using them as hiking shoes, for which they are amazing. And then I paced my partner for 27 miles of a rocky ultramarathon and decided last-minute to use these. SO HAPPY I DID! These shoes have it all: good cushion with enough structure, wide toe box, lace garage, grippy Vibram soles, and they are lightweight, comfortable, and rugged. The reinforced toe protects from stubbed toes, I've run multiple 20+ mile routes with plenty of vert in these with no hot spots, no lost toenails, and comfort all the way. These have become my go-to trail running shoe over my Salomons, Hokas, and other Arc shoes. My ONLY complaint goes for all GTX shoes, and that is that they get hot and steamy when it's not cold or wet out. Just bought the non-GTX version and can't wait to break them in.These shoes are great for running, hiking, wearing around town, and a lot of my coworkers wear these on their feet at work all day. All around, this is a very versatile shoe, and I hope it sticks around for good.

What a great shoe. It is hard to find a shoe that is all black, lightweight and protective from the elements. I have had 3 pairs of these shoes and the newest version is the best. The added cushioning has been welcomed on my trail run my rainy and snowy road runds.I often just wear these shoes as my everyday driver for life when the weather gets snowy or wet. I feel confident that they will keep me dry and protect my feet. Having gore-tex in a shoe a light weight shoe is heaven on snow or in the rain. I don't feel like I need to wear clunky boots. I have options! Also the megagrip sole is phenomenal. It has saved me from a few slips and I can definitely feel it when indoors on smooth surfaces. On my runs the lugs are well spaced out and provide me with traction ... MoreWhat a great shoe. It is hard to find a shoe that is all black, lightweight and protective from the elements. The all black look goes well with almost everything. The design is clean and looks great. This shoe gets a lot of time in my rotation due to the Canadian weather. I think this will always be a part of my wardrobe going forward.

I previously owned a pair of Norvans (not Gortex) and loved how durable, comfortable and water resistant the shoes were. I could cycle in an onslaught of Vancouver rain and still have fairly dry feet afterwards. I recently purchased these Norvan GTX thinking that this would be an upgrade. The sizing is much boxier and wider - I went down half a size and still find that the front toe box is incredibly large. Wore them out in the rain today, and could feel that a damp feeling developed after 10-15 minutes along the top of my feet. I thought that my feet may have just been cold, but after another 30 minutes, I could feel a squelch under my arches. After an hour in the rain, I was basically walking in a plastic bag of water, and just poured the water out of my shoes ... MoreI previously owned a pair of Norvans (not Gortex) and loved how durable, comfortable and water resistant the shoes were. These are okay for a wet ground, but not for wet, rainy weather - so ~ 300 days a year in Vancouver.

Firm and average performance and all depends on your needs. Great performance on a muddy/slushy trail with a decent grip but firm ride. Very very firm once you hit tarmac(ish) surface. Originally purchased for my winter street runs but because of the firmness, will have to keep as a trail shoe only. Midsole is not very responsive. Also not sure about the LD because of the above. Laces will become undone fast so have to tuck them into the tongue pocket, and too long also. Fits bigger .5 size. I had v2 and not much changed. If you’re looking for a cushioned shoe-look somewhere else.
This is an outstanding pair of shoes. I’ve been running in a pair of these for over a year now, ranging from training runs around the neighborhood to 10k - 50k runs here in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. In terms of performance, these have become by go-to pair of shoes for colder, wet conditions that are muddy, slushy, or have snow up to six inches. My best day in these shoes was running a marathon over 20 miles of snow. They were soaked by the end, but my feet were warm and the fit was so good for me I never got a single blister. I have 200 miles on them now and they’re still in really good condition. Couldn’t ask for more.Small details. Received these last week and got to say so far love them. I've worn nothing else since I took them out of the box. The fit is super comfortable, they feel like you are walking on air. I have on only took part in a short hike in them so far but performance level was spot on. Not only that but they look so good I can wear every day and have even ventured into the office in them where I received many compliments. Only complaint so far is that the laces do tend to come undone if not really tightly tied - I have the same issue with almost every competitor book/shoe I have bought but would be a great fix if it could be improved.
I own three pairs of these from previous seasons. Needed to re-up and dropped by my local store to grab a new pair. When I picked it up, it was immediately noticeable that the new version is lighter than previous versions. Upon closer inspection, the 2nd density in the inner midsole has now been consolidated into the main density. in other words, this went from a more technical dual-density sole to a single density sole with less stability/pronation support, ostensibly to save cost. But the price isn't cheaper than it was. So now we're getting less for the same amount of money. It's a shame. The upper feels slightly flimsier too. But it's the midsole I'm most annoyed about.
Great shoes which meet Arc's standard of high quality. I was fairly satisfied with the waterproofness and comfort. This is my second pair and my experience with both is similar. A few gripes - the laces do not stay tied unless you double knot them, my feet got very warm in them especially on sunny days, overall build robustness could use improvement - I wore both my shoes for under a year under moderate us and didn't hold up as well as I would have hoped. See picture where the tongue separated from the base of the shoe 6 months in. This will be my last pair of these, but they were good while I had them.I used them for everyday use, hiking, and running.
Recently picked these up and I’m a little disappointed. I’m a pretty avid trail runner gets ~80km a week on both road and trail. The shoe provides a nice, confidence inspiring platform, with great light trail to road versatility. However, these are far too firm to advertise as a “long distance” shoe. They feel dead underfoot. Nimble, yes…but I wouldn’t dare run a trail marathon or ultra in these. 20k max and even then I’d be hesitant. My other gripe is the upper. The overlays in high wear areas are great but the upper feels hard, baggy, and ultimately pretty cheap.I find it hard to recommend these to others when there are so many great options in a similar price range (Speedgoat, peregrine, Mafate, peg trail)
I bought this at the store in Denver 2 months ago while traveling to the yellow stone.actually the most frustrated part is that I had been waiting for the black one for 11 months and it had been always out of stock (with or without GTX), and finally I gave up, I can't understand why no re-stock for black ones, anyway I bought the one with Shark/Void color.I had a little concern about breathability for this pair of shoes at the beginning although GTX is so-called 'breathable' . with one weeks of hiking in Yellow stone and Grand Tetons, it goes really well, comfortable, supportable and not too moisture. my feet are wide and this pairs of shoes fit well
