I have been wearing this jacket frequently for nearly a year and I have (almost) no complaints. For everyday use, it is absolutely untouchable. It packs down much smaller than most jackets, doesn't hold wrinkles once it's on body, is super light, and the liner is SO comfortable, it's not even funny. You can literally just wear the jacket with no shirt underneath and have a great time. This jacket gives shelter from the elements, but most importantly - it gets out of your way as it does that. It doesn't inhibit movement, comfort, breathability, etc. For daily use, where you're looking for something that can bring you almost anywhere and do it smoothly, this is the ONE!You should know its weaknesses, though. On multiple occasions, I've also pushed this thing a bit too far and it's shown its limitations. It is by no means bullet-proof (or fully water-proof, snow-proof, wind-proof, rock-proof, any of the proofs...). Heavy rain or wet snow for extended periods (30 min+) will thoroughly wet out the face fabric (you'll still be dry-ish, it just won't breathe at all, which can end up being quite a clammy situation). I would not recommend this as an all-winter ski shell in the PNW (or other wet, temperate climates), though it does the bumper seasons perfectly. Given that this is not the intended use of the jacket, I won't hold this against it, but the shell definitely does have its limits.Durability has been really good. I have not babied it in the slightest, and, as far as I can see, there is only one visible scuff on the face fabric. Here's my one main gripe, and that's that there is no internal pocket. Why!? Skiing with this thing would be so much better if I didn't have to contort my body every time I needed to scan my lift pass in the deep front pockets. The older Beta LTs had it, I don't know why they would have taken it away this time... It would be so simple and would solve such an inconvenient issue with the shell. But, that's kind of it. It's perfect otherwise. Get this jacket and you'll have a new best friend to take with you on (almost) all of your adventures.

Helmet compatbility, pit zips, and goretex, what more can you ask for. Verstaile features in a clean, good looking shell that can transition from natural environment to urban landscape. I am especially appreciative of the zips because i run hot, but i also appreciate the fact that (when cleaned properly), the material can be breathable on it's own.I appreciate the N40 denier hardface as it is soft enough where it doesn't cause too much noise, but also durable enough to stand constant rubbing from a loaded pack, vest, or carrier sith straps.Although most of my jackets are M from Arc'teryx (43 chest, 34 waist), I am between sizes and I got this in a large, and i am happy with this choice. The jacket fits well (probably because it is trim), allows for layering, ... MoreHelmet compatbility, pit zips, and goretex, what more can you ask for. In the mean time, i'll just use it as my go-to jacket.

As a pro in the industry, this is the best all-around hardshell jacket you can buy. While not as burly as the Beta AR, it's plenty tough for all you could throw at it in the mountains. The hood is helmet compatible, so you're not leaving anything on the table there. But the jacket is also lighter, more fitted, and more comfortable to wear than the AR, too. So you're kind of getting the best of all worlds. It works as a rain shell and a hardshell for active pursuits. I have no trouble layering under it and it can take my alpine down jacket underneath without making me look like the marshmallow man.. but when worn with just a t-shirt it looks trim and fitted. I recently purchased the Arc'teryx Beta LT jacket for my outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, and skiing. The jacket has exceeded my expectations with its impeccable quality and attention to detail. The fabric feels incredibly durable and can withstand harsh weather conditions, making it perfect for technical use.One of the standout features of the jacket is the hood, which can easily fit over a variety of helmets, including ski, climbing, and cycling helmets, as well as over a cap. The pattern and design are immaculate, with thoughtful details that add to the functionality of the jacket. However, it's important to note that this jacket is not designed for urban or casual wear. The material can be quite loud and crinkly, making it unsuitable for everyday use. Additionally, the hood can be impractical, and the collar can go uncomfortably high.Overall, I would highly recommend this jacket if you plan on using it as a technical garment for outdoor activities. However, if you're looking for a jacket for urban wear, Arc'teryx has better options available.
I've had 3 Beta AR jackets over 30 years as an outdoor professional. They have given outstanding service. I don't need the extra pockets or the tougher, heavier fabric anymore and just bought a Beta Lt. A careful inspection reveals the same great attention to detail, design and construction. I live in the SE US where rain and humidity minimize moisture transfer through permeable fabrics. Ventilation is more effective for me. Pit zips and the large, helmet compatible hood promote this as does a "mid-level" GoreTex with a ribbed inner lining. This lining disperses interior moisture best IMO. The fabric is stiff enough to stand off the skin allowing additional ventilation and avoiding "clamminess." The hood, cuff and hem closures are there too, for cold dry conditions. ... MoreI've had 3 Beta AR jackets over 30 years as an outdoor professional. They have given outstanding service. I have been wearing Arc’teryx for many years and it’s been my experience that this is a top notch company not just in its quality of garments but also its business operations and services. I’ve had multiple pieces that have been covered under their warranty and either fixed or replaced with a credit. No other company I know of will stand behind their product like this. Seriously above and beyond in customer satisfaction.I’ve owned the Alpha SV and now this Beta SV and I prefer the Beta. IMO more universally useful for my interests and activities. I generally need a very good shell for hearse MN winters to disc golf where movement is not sacrificed. This piece is simply outstanding. I generally need a very good shell for hearse MN winters to disc golf where movement is not sacrificed. This piece is simply outstanding. I am 5,9” and 165lbs and the Medium fits me perfectly, enough for layering and not too baggy with just a t shirt in the summer. Truly a 4 season shell. (I do have also a Zeta SL for summertime that is of course more ideal for warmer weather but nice to have the SV as a backup if things get ugly.)Anything Arc’teryx is typically expensive but IMO also an investment. When you decide to commit to an activity or travel destination, you want to be confident that you’re prepared for whatever nature can throw at you. This is where you will be extremely successful and ultimately satisfied.
I prefer this Jacket over the Beta LT. I am (5' 8" 170 lbs average/ athletic build) I have pretty broad chest/shoulder with some love handles. I had tried the small and medium size. The small fit me best in sleeve length and drop, however was way to constricting in the midsection (these hips do not lie) and made layering difficult. So I went with the medium and can comfortably layer with a Atom LT or Cerium. The sleeve length is a bit long but I don’t mind it. I much prefer the C-knit fabric over the Beta LT, this fabric feels less restricting, lighter, and also produces less noise (for people who care about that sort of thing). I feel like I can move with less resistance and be able to grab items without feeling "clunky". The new zipper is way better than the Beta ... MoreI prefer this Jacket over the Beta LT. Overall this Jacket takes all features from the Beta LT and improves upon them.
Hello! I use this as an external shell (of course) for mainly backpacking. I sweat a lot. The pockets of this jacket allow moisture in from the INSIDE-OUT. And if you keep your phone in those chest pockets, it will be soaked! Not sure if this is a defect, but it certainly happens on both of my pockets. I think this is because only the outer layer keeps rain out, while the inside of the pockets let my sweat pour in. Completely useless pockets during a sweat-inducing activity….as for the rest of the jacket, it’s done fairly well. I’ve noticed the inner lining black material has worn off in several very small bits, but in two places (not high-rub places either). Doesn’t inspire confidence in a lifetime warranty as those rub-off spots showed within the first year of ... MoreHello! I use this as an external shell (of course) for mainly backpacking. I never dealt with the pocket issue because I’m reminded each time I start a long backpack trek, forget about it, and here we are.
It’s almost as if popularity is greater than quality these days. I’ve had several Arcteryx pieces, shells especially, and notice many differences throughout the years. Maybe modeling is the new aplinism. My first few shells where Canadian made, most now are china, and that’s cool. It doesn’t bother me, but perhaps the factories aren’t as specialized anymore. This is my second Beta SV, same color, same usage. Climbing, skiing, trail building, city living, canoe travel. I do love the jacket, fit, appearance, style, and layout, I give that five stars. But my seams keep failing, and my zipper keeps losing its catch and ability to bite for more than a few minutes. But my seams keep failing, and my zipper keeps losing its catch and ability to bite for more than a few minutes. If I were in the middle of nowhere with everything I have on a remote canoe trip and this happened, my resourcefulness would be to turn this into a duct tape anorak. Because the zipper continues to fail, and my seam tape peels off, I rate this down to a 3 star.I’ve filled two warranty forms and they just keep directing me to fill out another, to a slightly different department, warranty form online. The turn around time wouldn’t be an issue, as I do have other pieces to get me through, but I’ve never been filed into a claim yet. That keeps it at 3 stars, the online customer service has gone down hill. Usually, they’re accommodating and helpful, but I’m getting dizzy from the circles I’m running. This company will probably always hold true with the face fabrics and type of gear they make, but competition seems to be creeping up. I do not have any random holes, flawed mechanisms, or failing waterproofing. It’s mainly Always the seam tape and zippers.I also give myself 3 stars for ranting, but believe if it’s the best product out, minor flaws should hold up the abuse of rock, ice, and trees. My Beta AR from 2010 & Alpha FL from 2015 has lived a far harsher life than this four year old shell has. Please imply a stronger quality control and come back to the Alpine world
Beta LT is a series of jacket of Arc'teryx. It is made of 3L (three-layer) Goretex fabric and has undergone DWR (durable waterproof treatment), which is waterproof, breathable and wear-resistant. The detailed design of Beta LT is excellent. For example, COHAESIVE® adjustment system is adopted, and the circular adjuster is hidden in the hood, keeping a minimalist appearance, and it is easy to press the adjuster to adjust the size of the hat even when wearing gloves. The brim is designed to be stiff by pressing glue, and it has the function of a small hat, which can resist light rain. The cuffs have hook and loop design, which is convenient to adjust the cuff size. However, Beta Jacket uses N30P fabric with c-knit backing, while Beta LT uses N40P fabric with warp-knitted back, which is more tear-resistant and heavier in grams than the former.Generally speaking, Beta LT is a jacket with perfect functions and excellent details, which gives outdoor users full experience and perfect protection.
