Beautiful, Comfortable Bootie
16 September 2024

originally posted on ariat.net

The Darlin Western Boot is a beautiful, high quality boot! It fit me perfectly. I have a difficult choice because I also purchased the Roper boot which goes up the leg to mid-calf. I chose the Roper boot because I wanted a boot that went to my mid-calf. The Darlin is a ankle bootie boot. I have a hard time purchasing footware online but when I order from Ariat I’m pretty sure the boot I order will fit me well. I recommend this boot as well as the Roper boot. Beautiful boots you won’t got wrong purchasing.

I wanted my first pair of Western boot, and I think the Darlin style s adorable and irresistible. I have a guilty conscience for succumbing as I avoid products that involve animal cruelty or exploitation in the making, including the promotion of Western rodeo culture. But I love the equestrian element of Ariat that respects horses. I bought the wide in black, and looked forward to experiencing the great comfort I read about in reviews before I bought these, but they are uncomfortably narrow, though I am hanging in there with breaking them in, hoping they will stretch with time. They are hard to get into, I have a good instep which makes the top of my foot hard to slide into and I will never be able to wear anything but the slimmest sock. These are my first pair of boots ever. Finally figured out that I need to wear a shorter shafts to fit my muscular calls, and these are perfect for that. My normal size of a shoe is 7.5W and I knew from trying on boots in the past that I would need to size up to an 8W to fit me. These boots fit perfect now. I'm not used to a narrow toe so I'm getting used to that and will glad when I am since it does hurt slightly. My only complaint is that the Burnt Sugar color of my boots is very different than what's shown online. I really loved the online color but not so much on the actual boot.

Inaccurate Website Description
21 December 2023

I’m only writing this review because Ariat will not stop emailing me about it. I tried to order these boots in a wide, but Ariat cancelled my order because they say they do not have them in stock. Of course, their website still indicates that wide boots are available for purchase. The one star rating is for the inaccurate website description since I never received the boots. I have tried these boots on in the store and they are WAY too narrow! They are cute but I cannot wear them with my wide foot.

NARROW FIT
7 March 2024

Where do I start? First of all I have 2 different size feet. One is 7.5, the other 8. So I ordered an 8. I like a roomy toebox so I ordered the Wide. First the outside: I expected a distressed black or a soft leather like the picture called Old Black. Instead I got shiney new black, the leather is not soft. The stitching embellishment on the top of the foot on one of the boots is slightly off center. I took a pick but was unable to upload it. Inside the fit is very snug. Even in the wide. Good news for girls with slim feet. This is your boot. If you have an average foot, get the wide. You will thank me. And if you are a 7.5, order the 8 Wide. That's your fit. Yet like I said, it will be snug with a thicker sock (which is more comfy in a leather boot). I bought these ... MoreWhere do I start? First of all I have 2 different size feet. I bought these boots as a dress boot not a work boot. You can't slip them on, you will need to zip and unzip the zipper each time. And the zipper could have been a better quality. I'm keeping them because they are still super cute with a comfortable heel height. Overall, I took a star off for the narrow fit and questionable quality. I expected a bit more from Ariat.

Nice but fits narrow!
6 January 2024

The look of this boot is very nice. The fit is extremely narrow. This is the 3rd Ariat boot I have purchased and I am a true 8M. The description on this boot and the size chart indicated that I am an 8M so that is what I purchased. The right foot fit perfect and left foot did not fit at all. It seemed like the two boots where a different size. I was going to exchange it for a wide boot but the wide was more money and I didn't want to pay anymore for this boot. I contacted your customer service and they were so unhelpful. They suggested to order a wide, which I already was going to. When I asked if they could do it for me as an even exchange, I never heard back from them. I sent them 3 emails and nothing. Horrible Customer Service! UNHELPFUL!!

Not Wide Enough
21 April 2023

I read a review that said the wide is really a normal size, where the normal size is narrow. Unfortunately I didn't listen and bought them anyways. I want to confirm what other reviewers have written, THEIR WIDE IS NOT WIDE! This is my first time buying boots from Ariat and I am hoping and praying this isn't true for all of their wide boots, otherwise this won't be a brand I can wear. I am returning these and trying another boot out before I give up. Hope this helps the TRULY wide footed females out there. Super cute boots. Didn't realize it had a zipper. Heal is higher than expected... this would be a good work boot. More for dress up.

Perfect day to night, universal style
14 April 2023

So happy to find a black universal “bootie” that’s also comfortable. I worked a weekend event and figured it would be the perfect chance to break them in for a few hours, then change to a spare in the car. I ended up wearing them throughout the entire weekend, they worked great with dress slacks, skinny jeans and even a casual dress. It was a brutally hot weekend and the lower cut and shaft width prevented over heating. I was a bit rushed to have new black boots, so I ordered a half size up to “play it safe”, I almost regretted it as they had more than a little heel slip, but I kept them and it was a relief to have them a bit loose and have some mobility when standing all day/walking miles. If you won’t wear them to this extent, go with your normal size as they are ... MoreSo happy to find a black universal “bootie” that’s also comfortable. Poor quality leather :-(
23 January 2024

These are made in Indonesia. The leather is just noticeably poor in quality. It's that compressed, plastic-y type leather that breaks instead of stretches. It smells more like chemicals than leather. It's not supple at all, it's hard and dry. It's such a shame because the boot design is absolutely adorable. I just wish their manufacturers in Mexico made a higher quality version of this boot. I have wide-feet, and even when I ordered the wide version it was still way too tight. The size wides were more narrow than other ariat boots in medium. If you have narrow feet, order the normal width. If you have medium feet, order the wide. If you have wide feet, stay away. :-(

Super cute but SO narrow
28 March 2024

These booties are adorable. I am 6 feet tall and the heel on them is great, where I do not feel like I am towering over others. However, even for a narrow foot they are tight. I purchased the black ones in my normal size, wore them and it was a little painful. I purchased another pair (in a different color, they are cute) in wide and they are much more comfortable. The inside of the bootie is lined perfectly and the foot bed is cushioned, almost as if you are standing on an anti-fatigue mat. It would be nice to see more colors/ options in a wide size since they are extremely narrow.
