The Ark Nova Marine Worlds Expansion for Ark Nova, introduces multiple new elements to the game, such as sea animals that each have to be played in new special enclosures that must be built adjacent to water. Roughly half the sea animals are reef dwellers, and whenever you add a reef dweller to your zoo, you trigger the ability of all reef dwellers in your zoo. To deal with the dilution of the deck, naturally caused by adding more cards, all sea cards feature a wave icon, and whenever it is revealed in the display, you discard the first card in the row, then replenish. A new fourth university is available on the association board, and if you take it, you claim one of six special universities from the reserve that feature one research icon and one of six animal icons. When you take this registry, you reveal cards from the top of the deck and keep the first revealed card with an animal icon that matches your chosen university. For each of the five action cards, four alternate versions with a little twist will be available. Players draft action cards at the start of play, replacing two of their standard action cards with these new ones, increasing the asymmetry in the game. New bonus tiles and final scoring cards will also be included. Also the expansion will include alternate wooden markers for the 3 tracks and cute animals to mark the conservation projects you support instead of using your regular player markers. Note that this is not a standalone game, a copy of the Ark Nova Board Game is required to play!

I had already purchased the Special Enclosure set from this store and not only do I love it, I've received multiple compliments. I can't wait to get these premium components to the table to further impress!\n\nThe prints are high quality and multiple colors - best 3D components I've purchased online to upgrade a game.

Ark Nova: Marine Worlds makes an already-fantastic game even better. A new tagged category for Marine life is added, and with it, new animals, sponsors, goals, conservation projects, card actions, and even new enclosures. A "wave" mechanic is added to help cycle through more cards and a "reef" ability is added to allow for the stacking of certain abilities making for some great combos. A new University aids in the specialization in a tag of the player's choosing. Replacement cards, new cards, and new bonus tiles are added to supplement the base game, even if playing without the Marine-themed cards. Finally, the change that adds the most variability is the new action cards. No two games will be the same because each new action card will lead the player to specialize ... MoreArk Nova: Marine Worlds makes an already-fantastic game even better. Marine Worlds hits every sweet spot for an expansion. There are some new mechanics that bring joy without causing bloat. The new action cards change the game profoundly without destroying its balance.A lot of the new content speeds the game up without making it seem like less of an achievement when you win.My group loved it and it will be permanently in the game from here on out.

This expansion will now live in my game. The addition of the new animal type with their bonus compounding coral powers, helping see more cards in the deck and just a smidge more thinky-ness with the asymmetric cards that adds a whole new level pf game play.
It all fits in the original box. Wave symbol helps cycling through the deck & the new reef symbol provides a small level of engine building. Expansion adds to the Association task at strength 4 but can only be selected by one player per round ( resets on a break). Didn’t require learning a ton of new rules to incorporate into the base game. If you love Arc Nova you’ll love this addition. Highly recommend!
The expansion manages to pack in a lot of content while preserving all of the things that make base Ark Nova great. This is an expansion we will add in and never look back. Favorite aspect: new Wave mechanic and card actions that cycle the draw deck faster, so more cards are utilized with each play
Ark Nova is one of our favorite games, and this expansion adds so much to the gameplay. The ability to search for useful cards and also being able to get rid of useless cards more easily has transformed the game for us. Those were our biggest complaints. It is obvious the designers listened to what people were saying about this enormously popular game and took those suggestions to heart when they developed this expansion. As many other "elite" reviewers on BGG etc. have said, the Marine Worlds expansion will re-interest players who weren't as enamored with this game for the above reasons. I wholeheartedly agree, and would even say that I can't think of any expansion for any game that is better than this one.
Maybe 30 playes of Marine Worlds under my belt, 70 for Ark Nova overall. This hits that expansion sweet spot. I LOVE the slighly improved action cards, that's nice. Fishies are extra dose of fun. Balanced cards really help. Must have.
Very fun expansion with little rules overhead. Lots of fun mechanics without being overly difficult. There seems to be a lot of unnecessary components though such as replacement initial starting action cards that make things more confusing with more symbols instead of words imo but you can always not use them. Given the price point - it is a nice addition.
A Clean expansion with a little for everyone; wood animal tokens for those who want more "chrome" to customize their game, more cards (which is why we love the game in the first place), and new action select cards (which are integrated better than the new ones for Terraforming Mars Ares).
