Best game ever. So much to do. If you can see it in your head you can build it. Dino taming or breeding. Hunting end fishing, dino and magical beasts. Had the game 4 years now a rarelyplay anything else! Btw. Check out the rubblr battle ducky my son mady in the pics. Lol.

This game has had me hooked, no lie. I’ve played 1000+ hours, and not just because! The game is intense, has multiple DLC and if you are playing vanilla, requires tons of time and grinding to do the story. Now the reason for only 3 stars. Wildcard has a really hard time with updating, fixing bugs, and correcting issues. It seems every update put out causes a new problem. At least on PS4, the game blue screens relentlessly, lags, etc. the biggest thing is you gotta be patient if you want to play this game… or else. Adding a goofy screenshot from the game because why not :)

Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? This game is hours of fun. Sometimes I step away for a few months and then come back and play again for long stretches of time. My husband, daughter, and I all play together. I like to tame the Lystrosaurus (I call them “happy dudes” because they dance when you pet them). I feel this game is a more advanced game of Minecraft, but with dinosaurs. It does have some down sides though on occasion like the game crashes or sometimes glitches, but I still think its worth playing.

Love this game! It took me a while to get a good grip on it but once you do it’s fun. I loved the process of building everything from the ground up. I loved having to catch the Dino’s. It’s a frustrating process but it’s fun. Building was one of my favorite things to do in this game. There’s so much you can do with builds. I love the process of mating Dino’s as well. I used to love the special events where the Dino’s would come in certain colors. Very exciting to see the color schemes. Ark review

Lots of fun and challenging survival game to get started. Once you work on your character for a while it gets easier but I feel like there's not enough events or end game content for me to continue playing daily. But if you have always wanted to ride on prehistoric creatures and shoot things, it's pretty fun to try out until you get burnt out. But perhaps you won't. Perhaps it's just what you want to log in every day and play. You do you. I liked it for a while but went back to other games.

Took an Early Access game, full of bugs out of Early Access to justify paid DLC and an absurd price hike.I purchased ARK about a year ago, on sale for about 13 bucks. This was before Wildcard studios released Scorched Earth, a paid DLC while the game was still in Early Access. Lucky for them, because I wouldn't have given wildcard studios a dime after that. For the money I spent, I had a pretty good time playing on a dedicated private server with friends. Now the game is "finished" and costs 60 bucks (it was $30-35 when in early access) and it's still a buggy mess. Even worse is they announced a season pass with the first DLC coming out in just a month after Ark's retail release which again shows they spent more time on DLC then finishing the actual game. Wildcard Studios got greedy and lost my business and the business of all my friends. If they would have gone about DLC in a way that wasn't so insulting, I would of happily shown my support through buying their DLCs.If you must experience this game for yourself, wait for a price cut. I wouldn't pay more than $20. Though I would suggest that you give your hard earned cash to a more deserving developer.

Despite flaws, remains a great game, now on Switch

The FPS for me in handheld was very steady with no lags, though again terrain and texture would suffer at times.-Handheld: while I understand the frustrations of those who have had problems with the game off the dock, I personally have not had all the issues that others have had; I played a 3 hour session off the dock to see for myself what would happen; loaded myself and 3 friends into an unofficial private server and we didn't have much issue in handheld mode; again, textures would be somewhat choppy, frame rate did suffer slightly but not to where we couldn't do anything together. I can definitely see where those who would play official online would have issues in handheld mode; in dock, the game is much more stable, as my friends and I suffered no frame rate loss and textures were improved and rendering quicker.-Maps: Right now there is ONLY one map: The Island; so unfortunately, Switch survivors will not be able to go to the Center, Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, Aberration, or Extinction; HOWEVER, there is a lot that you can do within the Island alone (took me 100s of hours to get through everything, from dossier hunting, raising an army of tamed creatures, building my compound, etc on my PS4 data) so for me, it doesn't affect me that much; but I do feel bad for those who have heard so much about the other expansions and want to see them for themselves, only to be relegated to only playing on the Island for the time being; hopefully they release those expansions before too long;I enjoy taming dinosaurs and other creatures, so having this on the go with my favorite console made it sweeter; despite the flaws this game can suffer from, if you are an avid lover of dinosaurs, prehistoric creatures, exploration, and survival, this game is a worthy pick-up at its current priceSince this review only goes with a 5* rating, I can't give my honest rating since I go on a scale of 1-10, so for this purpose, while I rate the game 4/5* my official score for this Nintendo Switch port is a 7/10, great game, worthy inclusion for those who enjoy the aforementioned themes above, but on the flip side, the flaws can hold this game back from being what it really is for those who play on PS4, XB1, and PC.

Difficult but fun

If you're into building games like Terraria, Minecraft, Sims, etc. this game may be for you. The game is difficult depending on where you begin on the map and your interactions with the dinosaurs. I would recommend being careful because when you die you lose your items. Overall, it's a fun game that can easily take up hours if you're trying to play from scratch (i.e. without upgrades, codes, etc.)Fun game, I would recommend. My GF has watched me play a lot, as I yell and run away from animals trying to attack me. LOL

Good, but not great

So I gave it 3 starts for 2 reasons.1. The game doesn't give you much help. They throw you in and with no explanation as to what is what, you are left figuring out all the stuff yourself. Which isn't bad, but not very helpful.2. This is the main reason it has 3 stars. The text on the screen is so small. It looks like it came from PC right to PS4. It's hard to read everything even with playing it on a 75" screen sitting away 10 feet or so you are really squinting to read everything. Then there is local 2 player support, you might as well forget that. That makes the text impossible to read no matter how close you get. My son & I love ARK Survival Evolved

I bought this for my son for Christmas, and Best Buy had it on sale for 30.00 plus my gamers unlocked membership which was great. I was waiting for the price to finally come down, when it did I snatched it up. A BEST BUY CSR left me know that on the 22nd of December the DLC content would be on sale, as this CSR was an ARK owner/fan. Instead of the full 80.00 dollar cost for the FULL DLC - SEASON PASS content price I got the FULL SEASON PASS DLC on the PS Store for only 30.00. Each DLC that is released is said to have over 300 additional hours of play. Not all has been released yet but they're a couple available. Scorched earth is our favorite as my son and I are Dragon lovers. Scorched earth is full of ALL KINDS OF DRAGONS, and you can tame them, ride them, etc. I will say scorched earth isn't very easy, even if on easy. This game reminds me of Minecraft but a more realistic life like version with better options. It isn't easy to survive, but I recommend looking up survival startup guides on youtube, this will help a lot. Also if you play Co-Op it's very hard to see the writing when your trying to read, see what you have in your inventory, or when crafting.
