So far I’ve used three out of the six tools in this set and they’ve all done what I’ve wanted them to do. Nice grip and shapes of the tools. No issues at all.
This is my first set of sculpting tools for miniatures. They have made it much easier to smooth out green stuff filler on models and I am now using them to do some basic sculpting on models like hats and belts. The 3 tools have two sides each giving you 6 different tools for smoothing, cutting, and shaping. Great for someone starting out and probably for the experienced sculpters as well.
Up until I ordered these I was making due with flat dental picks. They worked ok, but these definitely provide far more option for detail/larger scale manipulation. I typically use them for applying basing and weathering. Good buy if you’re finding yourself getting frustrated with manipulating base materials.
I purchased these tools for applying tamiya model puddy. The different shapes are great for applying just the right amount of puddy were you want it. Which greatly reduces sanding time.
Feels sturdy, easy for an inexperienced sculptor such as myself to use. My first real attempt using putty/tools involved filling a large number of gaps in a poorly molded Kings of War metal mini. Really happy with the result!
New to sculpting with milliput and these tools made the job much easier. Plus, cheaper at Athena Games as always!
To preface this review I'd like to make it clear that the tools - in and of themselves, are fine regardless of the minor flaws, and that it is the state of the presentation and packaging which has made me sceptical of this product. To start off with, the packaging itself appears to be bent out of shape, and also seems to have been previously opened (which makes me uneasy in times where hygiene is of utmost priority). The inside of the packaging looks scratched and unclean - with many particulates, and tiny hairs and/or clothing fibers. Moreover, the inside plastic base for the tools seems to be the dirtiest. The tools themselves appear fine, except for this one spear-like tool which as it looks like to me - has had the tip of it burnt. The reviewer is an amateur-level miniature player. The six tool heads (three tools) are more than sufficient for my small conversion projects and the combination pack is hard to beat for the price.
