The paints came super quick 2 days. The product itself is exactly as advertised. The paints are nice and opaque and easy to control. I was initially worried about the reactivation claims I saw on various reviews. Generally with the colors I've used it wasn't a huge issue for me. I can still layer over top of them no problem. I did have the grey reactive on me when I handled a model with wet hands and I noticed the paint reactivating with some glazing (diluted with water and glaze medium). It is best to use a varnish after as recommended by AP.

This set might seem really expensive at $89 for 24 bottles compared to their Mega Paint Set, however it is only $3.70/bottle and contrast paint is $7.85-$8.90/pot depending on where you buy it. This paint will base coat, wash, and highlight your minis in ONE coat of paint. It will easily save you 50% to 66% of the time but the final results still look great. I’m in love with these speedpaints and if they come out with another set of 24 different colors then I’ll snap those up too. The only small negative about these paints is that after they dry the paint can be rubbed off very easily so be careful. You can paint with more speedpaint or regular paint over it, but be very gentle! You can not dry brush after applying speedpaint. These speed paints are amazing, They shade the recessed areas and go on thin over raised edges giving a very highlighted paint job. The 36 different colors and wonderfully spread across the spectrum. I already have 100's of paints. So why did I buy these? It's in the NAME. SPEED... when painting armies or lots of enemies i use speed paints. I still use regular acrylic for my Hero's or main bosses. But some of these new games have 100's of miniatures per game. I recently painted oathsworn and I mixed speed paints with regular to reduce the paint time from 100's of hours to dozens of hours.

If you care more about gameplay rather than the final look of your minis, than you can't go wrong. If you prefer quality painted minis, I wouldn't solely use speedpaints, if at all. They look best on *highly detailed* models, final results also vary based on what you primed the models with (smooth, coarse or glossy primers).I've found that the work better as advanced washes/shades over metallics and few other specific uses(sand golem over silver metallics results in a rich gold and shades the recesses at the sametime).I would recommend trying the starter set or a few individual colours first.I also wouldn't recommend these for beginners as they are rather unforgiving and require a decent level of brush accuracy.Painting over them to fix bleeding or brush ... MoreIf you care more about gameplay rather than the final look of your minis, than you can't go wrong. If you prefer quality painted minis, I wouldn't solely use speedpaints, if at all. They look best on *highly detailed* models, final results also vary based on what you primed the models with (smooth, coarse or glossy primers).I've found that the work better as advanced washes/shades over metallics and few other specific uses(sand golem over silver metallics results in a rich gold and shades the recesses at the sametime).I would recommend trying the starter set or a few individual colours first.I also wouldn't recommend these for beginners as they are rather unforgiving and require a decent level of brush accuracy.Painting over them to fix bleeding or brush mistakes often requires multiple coasts (due to reactivation).Because of the re-activation the models almost always require *spray varnishing* to protect from tabletop handling and especially if you plan to do further highlighting or shading after the speedpaints. Some standout colours IMHO are: Darkwood, Hardened Leather, Sand Golem(gold wash/shade), Gravelord Grey (wash/shade for metallics), Grim Black, Crusader Skin (as a skin wash/shade).The reds are nice, as are most of the greens and I am yet to try any of the blues.
This stuff works much better than GW contrast, IMO. The coverage is great, pools where it needs, and doesn’t streak. It works great as a one and done paint, but also provides an easily applied based to work from. If I have any gripes with it it’s that some of the more neutral tones are too close to one another and that it dries a little glossy, especially in the recesses. Expect to use some varnish to flatten the sheen, if you want. The paint can reactive fairly easily, so a varnish is necessary regardless.
These can be tricky to use but after you get a familiar with how to use them you can create great effects. These are closer to inks than Army Painter’s washes (sometimes called inks). It is somewhere between paint and a wash. You can use these as washes to add shadows, glazes, or even paint with them. Some people use these instead of paints to quickly give models colors and have the details pop. It works great for this unless you are painting a smooth surface. Used in conjunction with Army Painter’s paint set will give you the complete package to make any model look amazing.
Do you lack the motivation to paint your board game pieces? Look no further! Warpaint's new Speedpaint line will help you overcome that! With a quick priming of white and a few brush strokes, you will have gaming components and miniatures that have decent tabletop standards! This paint won't make you a stellar painter. Nor will it win you any awards. It will however make your pieces look good enough to play with!I'd look on youtube at some videos to see the best way to use them quickly. There are some downsides, but those usually don't matter if you are going for speed.
Watch out, Citadel! The Army Painter strikes again with another amazing product. These paints are an incredible addition to your arsenal for painting a lot of minis fast. The array of colors is dizzyingly exciting, and their visually stunning effects are fantastic. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better product out there. The included mixing balls are an awesome, if not mandatory, inclusion.
Listen, you're not going to win a competition with these. But that's not what they're for. If you want to paint a butt ton of minis in a short amount of time, this does a pretty darn good job. I'm not an expert painter, I get the basics of painting, but I don't have the time or patience to paint all my board game minis. This lets me knockout a couple of minis in an hour or so. If you're already a skilled painter, you could probably knock them out even faster. The colors aren't perfect, and you're probably not blending these (but maybe you could?) but it'll make table ready minis. There is a bit of reactivation if you try to paint over the speedpaints. Mostly something to be aware of, and you can use it to your advantage in some situations. For these pictures I primed in gray, highlighted in white, then applied the speed paints. Metals I went over with a metallic paint then added a wash, just to the metal bits. In a few instances (especially the water) I went back and applied a bit of highlighting after speedpainting.
These are a good paint for models that have varying surface depth, but do not work well on flat surfaces. The paint appears very dark on the entire model with a black and white highlighted base primer. These should not be bought as your only paint set, but instead used together with your favorite acrylic mini paints. Overall, I like most of the colors, but quite a few of the colors (especially the yellows and lighters ones) have very little difference in appearance. I would recommend if you don't care about detail and just want to get an OK looking mini (from a distance) painted fast.
