Getting into backcountry skiing, got a pair for my wife and I because of the claimed range. At our AIARE course the instructor moved the group out of typical beacon range so we'd have to do the initial signal search, I went first and already had a good signal before I started walking. It took me straight to the buried beacon, and the instructor was like "Man, what kind of beacon is that? You had the signal all the way over there". Also, fine search graphic and pitch changes are very intuitive. Only possible down side is that the on/off switch is a removable key that also serves as the second attachment point for the shoulder strap. If you don't like that arrangement it's simple to rearrange the straps (which I did) so that didn't affect my overall rating. Can't comment on durability directly, but seems solidly build.
