ASICS

The GEL-KAYANO 29 shoe creates a stable running experience and a more responsive feel underfoot. Featuring a low-profile external heel counter, this piece comfortably cradles your foot with advanced rearfoot support. ASICS also updated the midsole with FF BLAST PLUS cushioning. As a loyal customer, one when would think that they would make an effort to make sure I got the sneakers that I ordered at the price I ordered them for, but this is not the case here, amor, customer, or oriented company, would see that the right thing was done here. Also, they obviously have serious issues in their quality control department or manufacturing process that have to be corrected. In any case, I am very much disappointed, and I may just switch to another brand based on the way this was handled after I had to deal with all the issues based on their inability to ship me what I ordered.

I’m not sure if I prefer these to my previous pair (gt-2000) but so far they’ve been an excellent running shoe. I’ve found the sizes to be true. I’m a size 9 in all my shoes & a size 9 in these fits perfectly. I would however recommend trying them on in store if possible. There’s a lot of different styles of shoe to choose from.

I figured I’d just deal with it, until a few days later when I started getting awful pain on the right side of my foot only when wearing this shoe. I’ve been in contact with customer service and since I’ve worn these shoes outside (how else would I be able to test them out to see if I like them), I cannot return them despite being under the 90 day window. Pros and cons
6 December 2023

I have mixed feelings about the pros and cons of these shoes. For me the most important factor was comfort. I always bought gel kayano and always was pleased even though these changed a lot from previous older versions that I had. Pro: they are comfortable with nice interior cushioning, and good heel support and the large toe front is a plus for me I do not have larger feet but I like to be comfortable. Cons: they are not the most stylish sneaker out there so I opted for the total black to be less visible and yes as other says I think they are a bit squicky when walking but I need to verify more in-depth because I thought I've noticed the squicking while walking in the home going out, when the home was quiet. Running style over pronator
19 July 2024

When looking for some new running shoes I discovered ASICS had the option to cater for particular running styles and I found out that the pain I had in my foot was due to being an over pronator. I decided to give these a try being top recommended for my budget and requirements. The fit is good with a firm supporting insole with noticeable additional support provided to compensate for my run style which slightly raises the position of the ball of my foot and big toe which alleviates some of the pain I have been experiencing in that area as a result. I have been using for a couple of weeks now and the overall pain when not running has lessoned too and I'm hopeful over time these may help towards reducing further this. Sharp decline in quality and customer service
12 January 2024

I used to love Asics shoes. I have bought DOZENS over the last few years (min 4 pair/year). In the past year and a half or so, things have really gone down hill. Not just the shoe quality (extremely inconsistent sizing even within the same model), but more importantly the customer experience and customer service/support. Here are a couple of examples: 1) I ordered a pair that were on back order, my credit card was charged, waited two weeks, then received a 'order canceled' notice. I had bought the shoes on promotion, but when I went to purchase a replacement pair they would not honor the promotion (and indeed didn't even offer me a promotion at all); 2) the same pair that had been backordered then canceled, actually showed up on the site again. So disappointed
23 January 2024

I was so excited to get these shoes. They are very comfortable and I love the way they look. My whole family wears ASICS. We all love them for their comfort but the last 2 pairs I got fell apart quickly. One pair began to come apart after a month or 2 and the pair after that lasted close to a year before falling apart. I thought maybe it was because I was buying the less expensive models. So this time I bought a really good pair, the Gel-Kayano 29. I put them on, they fit so I took off the tags and noticed there was a rip in the tongue of the shoe. So I contacted ASICS and they refused to do anything about it. Would not exchange the shoes. I have never had a company unwilling to make things right with a defective product. I am very sad to say this will be the last ... MoreI was so excited to get these shoes. Stable, well cushioned, secure yet spacious
7 February 2024

Great experience purchasing direct from asics, tracked speedy delivery. The shoe itself is everything and more I was hoping for. As someone who over-pronates, I have been looking for a stability shoe that also provide cushioning and ample fore foot space for my toes to splay. I hadn’t tested any shoes prior to ordering the Asics Gel Kayno 29 shoes, but I had done my research, and having used many of there tennis shoes, I know that Asics quality is second to none. I am pleased to report this was still the case. The shoe whilst feeling light and well ventilated, has a really secure collar fit and lace tie down. The ride is stable but well cushioned and has been suitable for both long and faster pace runs for me, as well as treadmill sessions. This is a terrible replacement for the kayano 28!
12 August 2024

This is a terrible replacement for gelkayano 28! I hate it. It is a completely different shoe to the previous versions. It felt ok for a few days but it pitches my knees together and caused me a lot of pain in my lower back and knees. Fortunately I found 1 pair of gelkayano 28s online in my size. I cannot overstate how different from the previous iterations this shoe is. Most of the gel has been replaced with foam it’s really clunky and thick and the sole has a terrible sloped inwards feeling. Oh and not to forget, it’s made of different material that seems to cook my feet which would be appropriate for a winter shoe.

Too tight
23 April 2024

You might want to size up on the Gel-Kayano 29 or try them on in person before purchasing. I ordered 8.5 in the beautiful soft pink and they were too tight, plus somewhat short in length (I would have ended up with purple toenails). In addition to the sizing issue, something (possibly the tongue, edge of shoe?) was rubbing against the top of my left foot. The ‘toe-off’ on the Gel-Kayano 29 is made to propel you forward onto the next step but I found the ‘rocker’ movement very distracting. I’m a distance walker (half-marathon, 15 miles) and the Kayanos were once perfect for me but there’s a huge difference between my old Gel-Kayano 25 and the Gel-Kayano 29, which is now too much shoe for my purposes. However, if you run marathons, definitely try the Gel-Kayano 29 as ... MoreYou might want to size up on the Gel-Kayano 29 or try them on in person before purchasing. However, if you run marathons, definitely try the Gel-Kayano 29 as it certainly seems like an excellent shoe, just not for my distance walking. For that, I have since discovered ASICS GT-2000 11. AWESOME DISTANCE WALKING SHOE!!! Like the Kayano, the GT’s are also for over-pronators (flat feet).
