It features a standard foam midsole with cushioning pads in the heel and toe that are adequate for most slight overpronators. However it is not as durable for endurance running as more advanced modern shoes, like it’s sibling the 2090 or the Gel Kayano.

The 1090 is best described as a capable trainer. It is a retro shoe based on a model that was in its time a top of the range shoe. In that context it is stylish and a comfortable wide fit. It features a standard foam midsole with cushioning pads in the heel and toe that are adequate for most slight overpronators. However it is not as durable for endurance running as more advanced modern shoes, like it’s sibling the 2090 or the Gel Kayano.

Had runner friends raving about ASICS for years, finally listened and so glad I did! Stylish and beyond comfortable - would definitely recommend :)
Previously purchased this model in a different colour and am very pleased with the fabric and style. However, the same model in white had less detail i.e tabs missing at rear ankle and front tongue. The fabric appeared inferior to the previous ones which spoilt the overall appearance of the trainer. On the plus side, they were as supportive and comfortable as the others.
I'll start by saying thanks to Asics and their awesome staff,from their online store,to email support,to quick shipping,and to anybody and everyone involved in the best shoe company on the planet. Now about the shoe,perfect fit,speedy delivery and this shoe looks good online,in person,it's electric. First day I wore them,had at least 8 people comment on how the shoes looked. Thank you Asics.
Wanted a second pair of general trainers for daily walking on the beach when my other pair are still wet from the previous day. Wouldn’t say that these are a good running shoe but then they are described as ‘sports style’ trainers. OK for everyday walking around, perhaps a little expensive compared to similar models, but they do the job intended. Sizing is pretty on the mark; means that using thicker sports socks feels a bit tight and had to buy some thin sports socks to use with them.
I wear size 6 in women's gel venture 8, and 6.5 in this. Actual length of foot is 24.4cm. Shoes fit perfect, comfy, breathable, look nice, and weigh 560g (pair).Colour is bit different from the picture - Sole is creamy not white; Body mesh is BLUE tone grey.(Google "ASiCS gel 1090 43einhalb", shoes colours seen by naked eyes are exactly/similar to the ones the model was wearing)/////I am fussy about colour combos & shades of the entire outfit, was expecting the light grey tone displayed on the website. A bit disappointed that ASICS edited the colours so differently.If you don't mind the colour, I would say these are a good pair of dad shoes.
There isn't enough room and very tight from toe side. They should have put more foam then this shoes would have been very comfortable shoes. But overall I would say its good.
Bought originally for outdoor running but they’re such a comfortable shoe, I found myself wearing them for the gym and in the day. I have slightly wider feet and ordered these in a 5.5 and they fit amazingly. Loving the Y2K feel to them, they go with most outfits!
