The Gel-Cumulus 23 shoe's focus is to provide an even smoother and softer ride while implementing gender tailored technology in the men's and women's models. Continuing to draw inspiration from cumulus clouds, Asics reimagined this neutral running shoe's upper and midsole formation by applying a more holistic design approach that adapts to the runner's anatomy in motion. Wrapping the foot with an even softer feel, the engineered mesh upper adds strategic support in targeted areas while leaving some of the fibers more open to improve breathability. The upper also works more closely with the midsole's movement, which creates a smoother stride from footstrike to toe-off. To improve cushioning and flexibility, Asics added a 3D Space Construction to the top layer of the midsole. This technology is implemented through a series of strategically planted pillars within the midsole, allowing runners to experience more compression in a specific area without reducing durability or stability. These pillar formations are tuned differently in the men's and women's models to address each gender's biomechanical data. By helping runners appropriately compress the foam during the landing phase of their stride, this shoe promotes a smoother ride and improves shock absorption. A softer Gel technology unit is positioned under the heel to improve cushioning while the Flytefoam midsole material helps create a smoother and more supportive ride. Formed with a sustainable compound in the outsole, the Asics Lite Rubber is soft and designed to improve durability in high-impact areas.

I did everything right, I thought. I used the online questions to size and gave the shoes I wear usually (Adidas) the size, and everything. These arrived and while they're comfortable, they're definitely on the narrower side of regular width. The length was fine, but they're too narrow. I planned to return until I saw there is a $4.95 return fee. I should have paid attention to that before ordering as I cannot stand when I've done everything I can as a buyer and then get charged if I make the return. I'll have to make due wearing them barefoot.

On viewing of these runners 7.5=41.5 which I was happy with as that is the normal sizing of ASICS. On payment the order states 7.5=40.5. This really worried me as I wanted 41.5 runners. When they arrived the box said 7.5= 4O.5 and yet the shoe itself was labelled as 7.5=41.5. The box had a 40.5 sticker over the European sizing. I bought this to the attention of Sports Direct when I had to return a black version of this shoe in November which comes as 7.5 equalling 40.5.I got no satisfaction from the company as they ignored the problem that I was highlighting. Will not purchase runners from Sports direct as I worry they are not authentic Ascics runners. Something funny going on I really believe.

I have been using Gel-Cumulus for a number of years now. My old Cumulus 18s were starting to get uncomfortable on long runs so I knew it was time for an upgrade. I order my replacement Cumulus 23s online for the first time from Asics. I was very impressed with tracking process and my runners arrived on the designated delivery date.I took the Cumulus 23s for a run to break them in but I really didn't need to. The shoe provides great heel and ankle support and the foam inner makes longer runs much more comfortable. The toe box is nice and roomy which is good as I felt the Cumulus 18 felt cramped at times. The shoes are also much lighter than my previous pair which is an added bonus for the long runs. Great support and cushion. The cushioning is felt through out the entire length of the shoe and excellent support at the same time. Toe Box is narrow compared to other Asics model shoes. For narrow feet this is a good thing since not many models of shoes come in narrow width. Works very well with custom made orthotics; just unlace the shoes or make laces very loose to remove the insole and insert your orthotic. The shoe has plenty of depth for orthotics; you do not feel you are coming out of the shoe. A great improvement from several years ago,
I was hesitant to purchase these based on the reviews. But I took a chance and I can see why you’d either love them or hate them. The shoe fits like a compression sock, and it just so happens that it fits my foot perfectly. If it does you’ll find more control and support. I feel so agile and light wearing these. It’s as if the shoe is part of my foot. There’s no sliding around at all or the heel coming off slightly like most running shoes. My feet are slim, medium arch and width. The only way to know if this shoe will fit is to try it on. Good luck!
AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SHOES. I HAVE NOW USED IT TWICE: ON THE FIRST OCCASION MIDWAY THROUGH A LONG WALK/SLOW JOG I BEGUN EXPERIENCING PAIN ON THE SIDE/BACK OF MY LEFT HEEL. I DISMISSED THIS AND PERSEVERED. HOWEVER, ON THE SECOND OCCASION THE SAME PAIN AROSE AND BECAME UNCOMFORTABLE THAT I HAD TO VIRTUALLY LIMP BACK AS THE PAIN MANIFESTED ITSELF EACH TIME I EXERTED EVEN SLIGHT PRESSURE ON THE HEEL. THIS ONLY OCCURRED ON THE LEFT FOOT - I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES PREVIOUSLY USING OTHER TRAINERS/SHOES. FROM YOUR INVOICE, I SEE THE SHOE WERE DISPATCHED FROM THE 'OUTLET' STORE... DOES THAT MEAN THAT THE TRAINERS WERE NOT PERFECT?THEY ARE REGRETTABLY UNCOMFORTABLE AND CONSEQUENTLY UNUSABLE (FOR REASONS MENTIONED ABOVE)
I've been a regular of Asics for some years and have always found them to be quality and comfort combined in harmony. I saw these Cumulus shoes on offer and thought I give them a go as I heard good things but price was always a bit more than I'd want to pay (always on the look for a bargain). Initially felt comfortable, then starting running and felt the sole a little uneven in one of the shoes but tried to ignore it. First run gave me blisters on the outer left foot. So was a little disappointed. But another run, with lace configuration changed, I'm feeling a bit more comfortable with them. I see how they go. Other than this minor hiccup, the quality still good, and I'll probably still keep buying Asics...
I have been wearing Gel-Cumulus for a long time now. I ran three marathons in them around twenty years ago and mostly continued using the same during the intervening casual running years. A few months ago I started upping my run mileage and now plan do another marathon. I found that my toes were taking a bit of a bashing. I did try another brand and while they were was okay I decided to buy these, half a size up from what I used to buy.I'm so happy (and relieved) to experience the same feeling as I was previously used to. For me, Gel Cumulus is the right combination of comfort and responsiveness.
I've been wearing the Gel-Cumulus model for years. My first pair was the Gel-Cumulus 14. They always fit like a glove and were so supportive and comfortable. I bought the Gel-Cumulus 23 model, and they are by far the WORST pair I've ever owned. Honestly, I think the pair I ended up with didn't go through QC or something. There was not nearly the amount of cushion and support I expected, and within a couple weeks I began to experience horrible foot pain in my right foot. I finally put two and two together and realized it must be the shoes. I immediately stopped wearing these for my daily workout, and my foot pain slowly subsided. Needless to say, I threw these away. I switched to Gel-Nimbus and have been very happy with them. Based on the poor quality of the ... MoreI've been wearing the Gel-Cumulus model for years. My first pair was the Gel-Cumulus 14. I ordered these shoes because they seemed like the right fit for me (run long distances and need waterproof because it rains or heavy mists daily). I wore them once, and the gel part on the heel started coming apart from the fabric and the sole. There were other areas that were falling apart as well. Shoes were also not as comfortable as I would like for a long run.On their website it says that this company stands behind their products; however, to make a return, the items have to be unused. Submitting a warranty was horrendous. Only trades were allowed! Nevertheless, I will no longer be shopping with Asics.
