The no tongue sock liner takes some time getting used to. Otherwise they are comfortable. Tractions seems a bit slippery in the wet, but haven't properly tested that. Have heel slippage when wearing non cotton socks, such as poly/nylon for moisture wicking. feet slide forwards, unable to keep your heel locked in. But is mostly solved with cotton socks. Try on in store with cotton and non cotton socks. I think the tongued version would be much better. It's possible the size of a tongue helps push the foot down into the heel. I'm worried the no tongue sock liner will loosen over time, creating unnecessary space inside the shoe.ALSO there was nothing in the description talking about the shoe being a no tongue sockliner which is very misleading production description. ... MoreThe no tongue sock liner takes some time getting used to. Dropped the ball on that one webteam. I thought the MK stood for some weird colour / model scheme. Otherwise i would have 100% bought the NORMAL style.

When buying the shoes I wasn't aware that this model was a mens version of the Asics Gel-Kayano 29 which is supposed to be a bit heavier and wider than the womens version. I am a bit sorry to not have been aware of this before buying and wearing them. It wasnt really clear from the specs if they were mens or womens. Otherwise really comfortable. I would definitely recommend sizing up in this shoe. I usually buy my running shoes one size bigger than what I would normally wear and I did the same with these. Even though the length is supposed to be the same for womens and mens models given the same size it feels as if my toe is hitting the roof of the shoe and getting squeezed while running which I find odd since I already sized up. Not exactly the fit I was hoping ... MoreWhen buying the shoes I wasn't aware that this model was a mens version of the Asics Gel-Kayano 29 which is supposed to be a bit heavier and wider than the womens version. I am a big girl. I have had foot problems since way before I was a big girl though, starting when I was beginning to walk as a toddler. The GEL Kayano 29 is a very supportive, exceptionally comfortable shoe with cushioning that stands up to my substantial weight. My complaint about ASICS is that their shoes are made for people with narrow feet. They usually only offer wide sizes(incidentally ASICS is the only brand of athletic shoe that I have to order a wide in!)in black, white, and grey color schemes. I'm too young to wear old lady orthopedic looking shoes. This black shoe had enough fuchsia accents to make it cute. Do better on your colors in wide sizes ASICS!

As always, this pair of shoes outdoes the rest! It's light, flexible, and tight construction. It has enough cushion and is pleasant to wear on my hour long walks with the dogs on pavement and dirt ditches here in NM. I have a right big toe that made a hole in all four pair of Hoka One One's shoes. In contrast, I have had no problem with that issue with the Gel-Kayano 29 Wide.Getting a half size bigger and wide has really helped with this shoe.I would recommend this shoe to everyone! It fits perfectly. The width is just right. It's extremely comfortable. This shoe, like all of Asics shoes is of perfect quality. I'm a 52 year old male who lives and breathes in New Mexico. I'm a walker every day of the week walking my two dogs.
I bought this a month ago. Based on the 300km satisfaction from the previous model. No they messed up on perfection. The 29 feels like a brick. Any runner knows if the shoe is any, issue on the run its a big issue. I ran 20km recovery run today , the furthest ive run with these shoes. Now my right, knee is strapped iced, and my ankle is dosed in deep heat. Starting the morning feeling great and now my leg is in the air. Ill replace these with a nike or new balance , cant see me coming back to this brand and all my sport shoes are Asics. Asics is not cheap. Also Asics, got all these gay multicolored shoes. Two or three colours is more than enough.
I love Kayano's and have been wearing them for 20yrs. Unfortunately I feel different in these shoes.I usually buy the ladies wide fitting shoe but I didn't like the colours available and was told that the men's shoe is the same width as the ladies wide fitting, so I bought the newest Gel-Kayano 29 Deep ocean/Cherry Tomoto.I find these shoes to be a bit narrower and possibly a bit shorter to what I'm used to. I know there is added cushioning in the newest model (29) so maybe that has changed the fit of the shoe.I usually pull on a new pair of Kayano's and feel like I'm walking on a cloud but I'm not as comfortable in these.I know i have a month to take them back so I'll go and discuss.I'm hoping I can fall in love again with my next Kayano's!
For many years, I have been keeping up with every new release of sports shoes from Asics, as they are at the forefront in design and aesthetic taste mixed with a feeling of happiness as I walk these confident steps with Asics. I have tried almost all the high-end shoes of your high-end production and I have always felt satisfied and pleased with the ease of walking or running long distances, but this time my experience was with the Asics kayano 29 4E. The result was amazing and beyond description. In addition to the previous features that I mentioned for the rest of the versions, but This latest version surprised me with its high quality and color consistency, as if it were an antiquity decoration mixed with a modern, modern style. Several elements met in the Asics kayano 29 4E that made it stand out from the rest of the models and at the top, smoothness in the trajectory combined with balance and stability on various roads, with this really comfortable shoe, I feel that the distances have become short, I would never be exaggerating if I said that I gained several kilometers Weekly because of my comfort with these high-end shoes, when I was taking away the brisk walking before, I used to feel that my feet start to get tired after 10 km, but now I exceed 15 km and I feel completely relieved. I did not find a single negative to refer to here to help others, there are only more positives and likes, and I can only thank Asics for this modern version that contributes to the service of athletes and non-athletes alike. This version is a balm for every wound and is designed to suit all tastes and different needs. I encourage and advise buying, acquiring and using this high-end shoe, and you will find the clear difference from the first steps, and it was in the old proverbs: “A confident step walks as a king.” Thank you again and thank you to everyone who reads my comment here, ladies and gentlemen. Good luck with continued success. Have a good time with all the good and happiness.
I've been running in Asics shoes for the past 35 years. Asics don't radically change the design of their shoes every year, so I know when I buy a pair it is always going to work. I run 5 times a week and 95% off-road.Top four things I like about them:1. Flexibility. It bends, so it doesn't feel like a 'plank of wood' attached to my foot.2. Tread. It's relatively flat and wears evenly, grips well (even on wet rocks).3. A good balance of light weight and not too much support.4. Little 'break in' required. I wear them around the house for a day, then they are ready to go.What I don't like:1. I wear holes in the upper very quickly, especially around the bend point.2. My feet have been getting a little hot. Never had this problem in previous models, maybe I'll ... MoreI've been running in Asics shoes for the past 35 years. I bought these shoes around a month ago, and when I first tried them on, I was surprised by just how light and bouncy they were (I have previously worn Gel Kayano 26, 27, and 27s). The front end of the shoe points up so that each step kind of rolls into the next, creating a very smooth rhythm when running. In the beginning, the soles of my feet burned when I ran long distances, but when I swapped the shoe sole with the ones from my Gel Kayano 28s, that uncomfortable feeling disappeared. I think the new soles were too shiny and smooth, so my feet slid around inside the shoe, creating friction. After a month of running nearly every day (I currently have 170 miles or ~274 km on my shoes), I can confidently say these Gel Kayanos are the best shoes I have purchased so ... MoreI bought these shoes around a month ago, and when I first tried them on, I was surprised by just how light and bouncy they were (I have previously worn Gel Kayano 26, 27, and 27s). They are — as always — very durable, comfortable, and they don't unnecessarily tire out my legs in any way! 10/10 would recommend it (if you have the money).
The Kayano 29 from Asics, now on its twenty-ninth iteration, provides a few welcome improvements from last year but overall is still a comfortable, fairly expensive, reliable stability shoe.Three improvements that stood out to me:- lighter weight (from 305 grams/10.8 ounces to 299 grams/10.5 ounces in US men's 9)- less invasive support that keeps the foot and the leg comfy at all times- new midsole that offers squishier landingsAreas Asics could improve this shoe:- still no gusseted tongue- laces that get all twisted (Brooks shoes have solved this with lie-flat laces)- more breathable upperI'd recommend the Kayano 29 and have enjoyed running in them.
