Excellent cushioning and secure cushioned fit around the heel. This a new feature that my old Kayano shoes did not have. I wear out the back of heel inside the shoe first and this cushion bubble locks my foot into place and feels amazing. They are light considering how big they look. I have worn Gel Kayanos for over 10 years and I love these. I have flat feet and problems with a crooked toe however I love to jog, walk, run etc.. These shoes allow me to do that pain free as if nothing was wrong with my feet. That is priceless and helps with justifying the cost ;) .

Super comfy, but what happened Asics? You guys used to have standards. Quality has slowly died out at Asics. Anyway, this pair was purchased about two months ago, and it's already falling apart on the bottom. The rubber outer sole used to be solid, but it seems to be cheaply glued together stacked rubber. I'm probably not describing it correctly. The design is still great and comfortable, but for a shoe that is almost $200 with tax, falling apart in two months is just annoying.

I've had Kayanos for over a decade and these are a big improvement over some models. Fit was great, and the wider toe box on the 31s is a nice change over what was becoming a narrower trend. The ankle sock/band was also better than past years with a softer and snugger feel/fit.The changes in the shoe in the midsole were a positive. I would have concerns with long term durability based on a lot of exposed soft foam but first feel was ok.Two areas I was less thrilled with: this much foam in the midsole and outer sole left me feeling a little "floaty" feeling when using my orthotics. It's a high sole to begin with, almost Hoka-like, and while it was not uncomfortable it took some getting used to.The other was the lacing across the top of my foot. The Kayano is the only shoe in 4E (extra wide) that works for my challenging regular to wide feet (rather wide mid foot) with high instep. Wearing these shoes is like walking on a cloud. The super light Kayano is very spacious in width providing 11,5cm and offers a lot of room in the toe box. And they don’t look bulky like other brands in oversize shoe sizes like EU 49 at all. I just bought a second pair. I wish Asics offered more colors to choose from in Europe like they do on their US site. This is the only criticism I have. It‘s always just the color black being available in 4E in Europe, so I wear a black pair going to the gym and another black pair in the gym. Don’t get me wrong though. I‘m just very grateful the Kayano exists. Best running shoes ever, light weight, breathable and fit like a glove. Amazing to think they are better than my old 29s and there is no impact on feet or legs with the extra wide cushion taking all of the impact. ASIC is 100% correct that they make you run more deliberately and faster. My first run in them was a brisk 20 km, thinking that would not be the thing to do in new running shoes. It was effortless! It also is pleasing that the look tough, and they are indeed. Congratulations to ASIC for this fantastic technology and experience in all things running.
Frankly, I cannot give you an honest review. I needed a longer (larger) size and your website and phone were "unavailable" for a period of 5 days for me to arrange a return and repurchase. I gave up. The colors and style was great The shoes are a winner in my sister's eyes and feet so I thought I'd try them. Unfortunately your customer service and availability and website ruined my entire experience. I live 45 miles from an Asics store. I had high hopes for these shoes in style and comfort for my bunions. Lost me as a customer unless you come up with some amazing way to make me a believer in your on-line service.
Kayano 30 is one of, if not the best running shoe I've worn in 28 years. For me, the 31 takes a step back. For the past several versions of the Kayano, the 2E "WIDE" version has fit my foot well. The 31 is similar to the 30 in most aspects. Yet, the 31's "WIDE" version appears to have a longer/more extensive mesh upper, making the shoe feel bulkier and sloppier on me. This apparent new sizing may be beneficial for some, however it is simply not an identical fit to my beloved Kayano 30's.
Been training for months now and this new Kayano 31 really helps me in my training.Very cushiony yet not too soft.I feel the support as well as I am an over pronator runner. The support is not overly aggressive so that’s a plus.I usually do at least 10 kms - 30 kms in this shoe and it feels very comfortable regardless of how u train on it (fast or slow)So far this are my best long distance training shoe. The grip is also just right as I have ran with this shoe on a rainy day.The sole so far is sturdy and I haven’t seen any wear and tear yet.I would definitely recommend this to any runner who trains long distance or even just 5 kms per session.Worth every dollar !!
I was specifically looking for a black/black shoe for refereeing youth football. I have ran in Kayano's for decades. I have always kept it in my running shoe rotation for all of my marathon and ultra training. With lesser miles under my belt over the past 6 months, I have felt the need to go back to a support shoe for many of my other activities. This Kayano 31 looks sharp and feels a bit lighter than some of its predecessors. I'm absolutely satisfied.
This shoe offers a soft, plush cushioned base and most importantly - enough guidance to keep my foot firmly centered on top of it. The laces allow enough range of adjustment that I can lock my feet in place firmly, or leave them loose enough to function as slip ons by the door. I consider these a great shoe for everyday pavement/floor activities that even does an acceptable job walking on slopes and uneven terrain. The design of these shoes is keeping 239 pounds of human perched atop a size 13 wide sole. Good job Asics.
