I was so excited about this shoe coming out I have been a Kayano person for the last 10 years.This model shoe is narrower in the toe and is actually rubbing comfort wise. Very similar to the 30 certain don’t feel any extra support or comfort with the extra technology. I was expecting a big difference to be completely honest I’d probably think the 30 was a better model, the shoe kicks up a little bit more than the 30. It just overall isn’t as comfortable.Use it for training and general walking

I have spur on my heel which gives me a lot of pain after few hours of walking and standing. I’ve tried other brands that have foot supports, but only helped a little. This shoes is one of the recommendations of my podiatrist. It did wonders. I can walk and do activities normally without pain. My life is back to normal again because of these shoes. I bought 2 already and buying more. Love the color by the way.

Only worn twice but very comfy and supportive around my ankle with severe post-traumatic arthritis. Feels like walking on clouds with their light, breathable materials. Wish there were more colour options for women with flat wide feet though. Many thanks to Jeremy at Albany. Super helpful and informative.

I wasn't expecting to like the Gel Kayano 31s; I loved the 27 and 28s, but hated the 29 and 30s. I figured the minor updates to the 31 wouldn't make a difference, but at least for me they were just what I needed. I'm a walker these days, about 2 - 3 miles every morning, and these shoes provide the comfort and support I've been after. However, I think quality could use some work. The front tread on the left shoe started coming off after just one week (!!!) of use. Fortunately ASICS warranty approved their replacement, but I hope I don't have to keep going through this on a regular basis. These shoes are WAY too expensive to have these kinds of defects!
Frankly, I cannot give you an honest review. I needed a longer (larger) size and your website and phone were "unavailable" for a period of 5 days for me to arrange a return and repurchase. I gave up. The colors and style was great The shoes are a winner in my sister's eyes and feet so I thought I'd try them. Unfortunately your customer service and availability and website ruined my entire experience. I live 45 miles from an Asics store. I had high hopes for these shoes in style and comfort for my bunions. Lost me as a customer unless you come up with some amazing way to make me a believer in your on-line service.
I bought these expensive shoes ($320) because the Athletes Foot salesperson recommended them to me, as I've got chronic plantar fasciitis. I've had it for 2 years and none of my shoes are comfortable to walk in. After purchasing the latest Asics Gel-Kayano shoes, I walked 3 blocks back to work and my feet were very sore, especially my toes. The rocking movement exacerbated my foot pain, putting pressure on my upper foot, and causing pain through my whole foot, instead of just the arch and heel. These shoes may help with some cases of plantar fasciitis, but they made mine worse. But I'm grateful to the store for giving me a full refund, even though I had worn the shoes - thank you!
I've had these for 2 weeks now and really like them. My previous shoes were gel kayano 28 (also in a wide fit) that lasted two or so years. I was a bit concerned about the finger grip on the heel but it's nice and soft so it doesn't rub. I have a short (6.5 US), wide (D fitting) foot so finding a comfortable fit has always been tricky. If I have any complaint it's just the limited range of colours for the wide fit shoe. The shops I visited only stock black or black and white so I purchased online to get a bit of colour.
I purchased my new 31s recently in narrow width 2A. I’ve been buying Kayano 2A for quite a few years. I have found these latest ones are wider so the fabric over my toe area is bunched up as I have to pull laces so tight. Even then, my feet slide around. I know the bases have been made bigger for stability but this doesn’t help those with narrow feet like mine. Ascics are the only company that make women’s size 13 in narrow, thank goodness as I would have no other options. It is just a shame they are now wider.
This shoe offers a soft, plush cushioned base and most importantly - enough guidance to keep my foot firmly centered on top of it. The laces allow enough range of adjustment that I can lock my feet in place firmly, or leave them loose enough to function as slip ons by the door. I consider these a great shoe for everyday pavement/floor activities that even does an acceptable job walking on slopes and uneven terrain. The design of these shoes is keeping 239 pounds of human perched atop a size 13 wide sole. Good job Asics.
I bought these Kayano 31’s as I have flat feet and so over pronate. I had tried various other running trainers over the years with varying degrees of success but eventually I always ended up with joint pain in the big toe and sore flesh under the big toe and ball of the foot, always worse on my left foot I usually run/walk 2 miles twice daily.These trainers really help to control my running gait and, so far, no sore feet, much less pain in my big toe and left knee. They are a good fit too so spot on size-wise for me.I didn’t expect a miracle but hey, it’ll do for me.
