Bad redesign

I bought this about a month ago and immediately returned. I have worn Gel-kayano for years but 30 and 31 are not good. I have always been able to instantly wear them with no break in period until 31s. The 30s fit ok but design was to large of a shoe. The 31 has a very prominent arch piece on the outside that actually pushed into my foot. I was not able to even wear around my house very long. Asics needs to redesign gel-kayano...again...and go back to the more comfortable 29 style and before. The color options are still good but the design seems to have changed with the most recent version, no good. Returned.

I love these. The problem with buying in line is that you don’t have the professional assistance. I thought that first time I’d got the right size and they felt ok when I tried them on. But after a day’s wearing under heavy use, my toenail told me I needed a bigger size. Very happy to do that - my fault for getting it wrong. Caveat emptor. My new ones are absolutely fab. Couldn’t be more pleased. Very supporting of my unnecessary extra weight, comfortable after several hours of action. Plenty of width and no sweatiness. And love the colour! My kids think I’m cool too and are in competion for the smaller ones. Luckily they have smaller feet than me.

Expensive but worth it. The best 4E shoe ever!

The Kayano is the only shoe in 4E (extra wide) that works for my challenging regular to wide feet (rather wide mid foot) with high instep. Wearing these shoes is like walking on a cloud. The super light Kayano is very spacious in width providing 11,5cm and offers a lot of room in the toe box. And they don’t look bulky like other brands in oversize shoe sizes like EU 49 at all. I just bought a second pair. I wish Asics offered more colors to choose from in Europe like they do on their US site. This is the only criticism I have. It‘s always just the color black being available in 4E in Europe, so I wear a black pair going to the gym and another black pair in the gym. Don’t get me wrong though. I‘m just very grateful the Kayano exists. Great stability
5 September 2024

I bought this a month ago and slowly took my time breaking into them whilst interchanging with my New Balance Fresh Foam 880. For me, it seems to be an Asics Kayano thing where I blister on my inner right heel (could be my running form). Considering my previous Kayanos were the 27s, I didn't think this would happen again and unfortunately it did. They're a great shoe for stability. I can see and feel the improvement in ankle support. Light weight and cushioned.Kayanos 27 lasted me through the bulk of my half mara training. Hoping these would also be a great fit for full mara training and the mara day!

Kayano 31 is a great shoe!!
24 August 2024

The Kayano 31 is a great shoe! The upper is super comfortable. The cushioning is amazing! I’ve had plantar fasciitis for 8 months and finally switched from my NB stability shoes to this shoe. Within 1 week my arch pain is greatly reduced. This is a very stable shoe, but I do always wear Superfeet inserts in my shoes since I have flexible arches. I have worn multiple editions of the Kayano but the 31 is by far my favorite. I’m on my feet all day long as a PE teacher, walk for exercise, and workout at a gym. I will be buying more colors of these.

Let’s be retro and go back to a 22-27
19 July 2024

If I wanted a Hoka, I would purchase a Hoka, not an Asics. This new design copies Hoka and it does nothing for my overpronation. Bring back the Gel Kayano anny model 22-27 and I promise your sales will increase. I’m not sure if the new design is an attempt to reduce production cost, but I am more likely to send $160 on a Gel Kayano 22-26 or even 27. Gel Kayano 28+ have been on a decline in structure, suppor, and comfort. Let those who want to buy a Homa have a completely new shoe and call it something else rather than changing a classic shoe many have been wearing for 15 years or longer. People are asking repeatedly in your comments for the older style and waving you for Brooks and New Balance. Please help save your customer base.

Major Disappointment
7 September 2024

I’m an avid runner and needed to purchase a new pair of running shoes. I’m a huge fan of the Kayanos and have been running in them for years. I bought these out of brand loyalty and my love of these but I must say I’m very disappointed. They are too big and bulky on my feet and very heavy. I didn’t feel the heat as other runners did in there reviews. It makes my run quite uncomfortable which is not a good thing. I did a lot of research before I made my purchase which makes it all the more disappointing. I’m going to have to suck up the $165 bucks I paid for them and count it as a sunk cost. Starting over in my search for a new running shoe. Not happy with my purchase.

No longer the stability shoe it was marketed as.
10 September 2024

Gone is the shoe I’ve ran religiously in for 15 years and now it’s been replaced with a clunky platform shoe that feels like it’s taped on your foot with masking tape because the quality has gone down so much. Kayano set itself apart for years as being the highest stability shoe on the market with neat looking outer guide rail placement. Now it looks like every other shoe and doesn’t do the job it advertises. The width has gotten wider and the stack height is ridiculous, not to mention the stability has gone way down. Have a wide option for a reason, no need to widen the whole line. The 28 was the last decent Kayano, minus the heal material breaking down prematurely. Asics do yourself a favor and bring back the best stability shoe on the market and set yourself ... MoreGone is the shoe I’ve ran religiously in for 15 years and now it’s been replaced with a clunky platform shoe that feels like it’s taped on your foot with masking tape because the quality has gone down so much. Perfect everyday training shoes
16 July 2024

#gifted these shoes from a week ago, these have been my go-to shoe this week for recovery. These are the perfect stability shoe, especially for my easy recovery runs. These are ideal for runners looking for a combination of moderate support and high-cushioning, which I love in a shoe. One thing I kept thinking to, was the incredible comfortable landing, which I could feel throughout the entirety of my runs. From my opinion, the materials feel sturdy, and I can tell this model is built to last plenty of miles; in an everyday training shoe. The new slightly thinner upper provides a secure, plush fit while still providing some wiggle room through the length of the shoe. One other key feature, is the outsole traction is quite good on both dry and wet road, which I have ... More#gifted these shoes from a week ago, these have been my go-to shoe this week for recovery. Too wide for this gal.
5 August 2024

I have been running in ASICS for 20 years. I'm one of the unfortunate people with narrow feet and an even more narrow heel. ASICS have been my go to shoe because the shoes tend to be on the more narrow side. I purchased the 31 in my normal size and to my surprise, the shoe was too wide for my feet. I was so disappointed. I've tried the shoes that are specifically for narrow feet, and they have in the past tended to be a little too narrow for me. Even with the marathon loop which helps me secure my ankle, my foot was sliding all over the place - side to side and vertically. I ended up having to return these and go with a different brand. I hop ASICS can get back to their more slim fit in the future.
