Excellent cushioning and secure cushioned fit around the heel. This a new feature that my old Kayano shoes did not have. I wear out the back of heel inside the shoe first and this cushion bubble locks my foot into place and feels amazing. They are light considering how big they look. I have worn Gel Kayanos for over 10 years and I love these. I have flat feet and problems with a crooked toe however I love to jog, walk, run etc.. These shoes allow me to do that pain free as if nothing was wrong with my feet. That is priceless and helps with justifying the cost ;) .

The new design is terrible, so I returned them. I have been wearing these shoes for 10 years and bought 3-4 pairs per year. I walked in numerous 33 mile breast cancer walks in the prior design. The issue is the pitch of the foot, along with the lack of absorption and cushion compared to the prior models. I have since bought every Kayanon 29 or earlier model that I could find - over 20 pairs.

Excellent shoes for narrow feet. Had to find these by searching on the ‘Net for ‘narrow sneakers’ as the shop seemed unaware that Asics provides narrow fitting shoes and did not advise me of their availability. Very comfortable although I would have preferred just about any other colour than black but that’s all they come in - very unimaginative.

Amazing cushioning and support. I have mild plantar fasciitis in left foot and don’t notice with this shoe. I’ve tried New Balance and Hoka but for me this is the best. Wide version is great as well for a slightly fuller foot.
Best running shoes ever, light weight, breathable and fit like a glove. Amazing to think they are better than my old 29s and there is no impact on feet or legs with the extra wide cushion taking all of the impact. ASIC is 100% correct that they make you run more deliberately and faster. My first run in them was a brisk 20 km, thinking that would not be the thing to do in new running shoes. It was effortless! It also is pleasing that the look tough, and they are indeed. Congratulations to ASIC for this fantastic technology and experience in all things running.
Don’t buy from ASICS online! If the shoe doesn’t fit, return shipping is a hassle. It’s hard to find a box big enough for shipping them back and fedex charges $12 for packaging a shoe box to send back. Shoe is a 3.5 star shoe. Feels comfortable but the wide is still too narrow in the midfoot but good in the toe box. Just go try them at a running store, buying from asics directly is a hassle if you need to return.
Been training for months now and this new Kayano 31 really helps me in my training.Very cushiony yet not too soft.I feel the support as well as I am an over pronator runner. The support is not overly aggressive so that’s a plus.I usually do at least 10 kms - 30 kms in this shoe and it feels very comfortable regardless of how u train on it (fast or slow)So far this are my best long distance training shoe. The grip is also just right as I have ran with this shoe on a rainy day.The sole so far is sturdy and I haven’t seen any wear and tear yet.I would definitely recommend this to any runner who trains long distance or even just 5 kms per session.Worth every dollar !!
I had my feet analyzed and was told I have low arches. I bought the kayanos based on this assessment and I totally regret it. It has caused so much aching and pain. Also gave me intermittent plantar fasciitis and tendonitis. These shoes also make me feel like I'm going to turn my ankle more easily. Sorry, it didn't work out for me.
I purchased my new 31s recently in narrow width 2A. I’ve been buying Kayano 2A for quite a few years. I have found these latest ones are wider so the fabric over my toe area is bunched up as I have to pull laces so tight. Even then, my feet slide around. I know the bases have been made bigger for stability but this doesn’t help those with narrow feet like mine. Ascics are the only company that make women’s size 13 in narrow, thank goodness as I would have no other options. It is just a shame they are now wider.
These shoes squeak terribly on indoor floors like the wood in my house or the marble near my office. Its terrible. I use them to run but cannot wear them otherwise. Terrible and embarrassing. I have had ASICS for 20 years and am not sure what I am going to do now because I have a wide foot and I think they are comfortable. The squeaking it too load though.
