The Asics Glideride Max, the update to the Glideride 3, is a daily trainer crafted for long and recovery runs, ideal for runners seeking some forefoot stiffness. It features a dual midsole setup with FF BLAST MAX on the top layer and FF BLAST PLUS ECO on the bottom layer, to create a soft and stable ride. The GUIDESOLE technology is enhanced with a Hardened Press EVA Plate sitting between the two midsole foams for added stiffness, delivering a smooth, efficient rocker from heel to toe. The outsole blends ASICSGRIP technology, as seen on the Nimbus 26 and Kayano 31, with AHARPLUS at the heel for superior traction and durability.

After a tough training week in preparation for a Half Marathon, I was pleasantly surprised to have these shoes arrive as I had heard the hype of these shoes as excellent recovery shoes.Slid my feet in to the Glideride Max and it fit snugly like a glove. I had ordered a US10.5 as it was my usual shoe size but I had also usually worn a 2E Wide versions of Asics in the past but was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t need it. However, it was snug for a wide foot so may try the 2E version in store to compare next time.Took it for an easy paced run and thought I’d try to push the boundaries and it easily transitioned to a moderate pace but it did not feel energetic enough to push it further and nor should it as it’s touted as a “recovery” shoe. The FF Blast Max foam ... MoreAfter a tough training week in preparation for a Half Marathon, I was pleasantly surprised to have these shoes arrive as I had heard the hype of these shoes as excellent recovery shoes.Slid my feet in to the Glideride Max and it fit snugly like a glove. The cushioning doesn’t envelop the foot like the Invincible Run’s but you do feel like you sit on top of a cushioned surface. It will be interesting to see how these shoes feel after a few hundred k’s as the ZoomX foam on Invincible Run’s began to lose its cloud-like feel at that range. The shoe grip was good on sand covered concrete paths and dewy timber board walks without any observable slippage.Shoes felt airy and light and feet were not overly warm or uncomfortable.I had the opportunity to run in a pair of Asics Superblast 2’s in the last 2 weeks and coming from a spritely tempo+ paced shoe to these definitely felt different and so it should based on what the shoes are designed for. Superblast 2’s are my fun shoes, Glideride Max’s are now my go to recovery shoes.Overall, these shoes are comfortable and great for easy to moderate paced and recovery runs. The FF Blast Max Foam feels so cushioned yet stable underfoot. These shoe will fit nicely in my shoe stable and I’ll happily alternate these with my Nike Invincible Run’s.

Asics have had several great running shoes this year, but this is my current favourite. It is super cushioned but also has good forward propulsion and doesn’t feel soggy like some max cushioned shoes, probably due to the combination of the rocker and the plate.I have a fairly wide fore foot but I got the standard width and they were a snug fit for the first few runs but have now stretched a bit and the comfort is perfect. I mostly do slowish long runs, and they are perfect for me for this, but are light and energetic enough for quicker intervals as well.Stability is also good, I used to mainly get motion control shoes including Gel Kayano’s but the Glideride Max’s firm (but well cushioned) heel counter and overall width provide good lateral stability. I've had the Glideride Max in my rotation now for about a month and done approx 100km in them. I love them for the morning after a hard interval or tempo run session. Very easy on the feet and legs. Good roll through to chew up easy miles. Heel contact feels great, not too spongey and the toes off is relaxed. I don't think I'd do speed work in these, as I have other shoes to do this, but great everyday shoe for easy runs. Fit of the upper is classic Asics, just comfortable nothing rubs.
