I’ve tried quite a few different brands and models of running shoe and these are my favourite. They were recommended to me after I started experiencing pain in my foot from jogging. Being in my fifties I thought it was just part of getting older, but switching to the Kayano solved the problem almost instantly. Comfortable for simply walking or going for a run. My only issue is my toe can bust through the top (it happens with other shoes, too). Other people do not have this problem. I am on my 2nd pair and have no plans on switching brands or models.

Arch support in a wide width

Well made sneaker with arch support in a wide width. With other sneakers, I tend to over pronate or roll my ankle. When wearing these sneakers, I have never rolled my ankle. I walk 5-7 miles a day in addition to normal daily activities and tend to go through sneakers every 3-4 months. With the exception of the soles I wear out the sneakers always look almost new. Definitely a high quality and well made shoe.

I purchased two pair of these shoes. One pair fit perfectly like so many ASIC sneakers i have owned over the years. The second pair caused significant irritation on my heal near the inner sole. I am not able to use the second pair. I submitted a warranty form, and since there is no VISIBLE defect, ASICS will not correct the issue. Instead they sent me an extensive email on how to properly tie my shoes. NOT WORTH THE CHANCE.

Fantastic shoes
10 April 2023

I have flat feet and find it incredibly difficult to find the right shoes. I tried these shoes for the first time and I am very happy with the purchase. The shoes are very comfortable, soft and beautiful. Especially the front of the shoe is wide. The shoes are made from high quality materials. The size and appearance match the description. Thank you so much for such a technological marvel!

Not the same Kayano
30 October 2022

The 28 series are not the same. I believe I received a defective pair but with no visible issues. Left shoe would roll to the side. I called Customer Support and received a tabloid answer-send us pictures of the defect. I did not expect such a poor interaction. No one wanted even to discuss the issue with me. I have been customer for life but because of this experience, my purchasing choices are changing. ASICS might have made money on this pair but will loose in a long run. Disappointing!

Shoe sucks & company does not stand behind product

Buyer beware: I recently purchased 2 pairs of Gel-Kayano 9 1/2 4E. 1 pair Black/Clay Grey and 1 pair Black/Electric Red so the shoes would look different so I would be able to rotate shoes every day and not get them mixed up. I have been wearing Asics 9 1/2 4E for years so I know how they fit. My pair of 9 1/2 4 E Black/Electric Red was so tight so I knew something was not correct. I put both style of shoes next to each other (see pic attached) and put a level on the tip of each shoe, and sure enough . . . even though the shoes were supposed to be identical, the level shows something very much different. One pair is smaller (tighter) even though sold as same size. I contacted Asics about this issue and too have them stand behind their products, to which they would ... MoreBuyer beware: I recently purchased 2 pairs of Gel-Kayano 9 1/2 4E. 1 pair Black/Clay Grey and 1 pair Black/Electric Red so the shoes would look different so I would be able to rotate shoes every day and not get them mixed up. Superb Shoe
4 October 2021

OK, I've been wearing my Gel-Kayano 28s for about 2 months, having replaced the shoe's previous incarnation the Gel-Kayano 27. Good as was the Gel-Kayano 27, (and it was good!) this shoe is one hell of an improvement -- particularly if your feet happen to pronate (and boy, do mine pronate!).For me, the two biggest improvements are the toe box and the rear foot or heel support. One thing that gave rise to complaints with the Kayano 27 was that the toe box didn't hold its shape, that it collapsed or crinkled. That was also the case with my own two pairs. Within a few weeks the front of the shoes looked misshapen. Not so with the Kayano 28. Within a few weeks the front of the shoes looked misshapen. Not so with the Kayano 28. After two months of power walking (this 70 year-old does marathons) and daily wear the sturdy toe box has held its shape very nicely. So kudos to the designers for having sorted out that particular problem. Now for the rear foot support: for me that's been a game changer. The improvement has been such that I've been able to dispense with my ankle supports which I wore for years in order to prevent recurring tendinitis. That's been quite liberating and a testimony to the thought that's been put into the design of the shoe.Is there a negative? Well, yes. Nothing is completely perfect. And, here, my sense is is that compared to the Kayano 27s, the Kayano 28 has a little less of that wear resistant rubber in the area of the outside heel (which typically is where my shoes wear out fairly rapidly due to the severity of my pronation) and this seems to have caused the shoe to wear out a little faster. Notwithstanding, I still give this shoe 5 stars. I may have to purchase the shoe more frequently, but the benefits so outweigh this negative that it will remain my go-to shoe -- both for training and for everyday wear. Yes, in my opinion the shoe also looks real nice: good enough for daily casual wear. Well done Asics.

The Best Winter Shoe
26 January 2022

I have around 160 miles in the new Kayanos and have 2 reviews for them. They are soft and a little slower, very springy out of the box. Not a great feeling, they need to be a touch firmer in the forefoot. 4star.For winter, sub 35 weather, these are amazing though. Not bricks with no cushioning like most of my other shoes. I’ve had many fast tempo, fun runs and will wear these exclusively for the rest of this cold season.I noted one other review mentioned needing to put 100 miles into these to reduce the soft forefoot feel- I’m looking forward to testing these when Spring hits, but for now, they are awesome winter shoes.

The best shoes for beginning and long runs!
16 October 2022

I am actually writing this for my husband since he is not really into social media! :-) My husband is a very active person in cycling and skiing but not so much into running. He has been trying to do some running in the summer months as it is easy to fit into the work schedule but earlier this summer, he has been complaining a lot that his knee hurts after about 5 km. He tried various shoes and said these have been by far the best ones. They are comfortable, supportive and he said he will not go back to any other shoes. He has also had no problem with his knee since he has started using these. Asics shoes tend to be a bit smaller. He is wearing one size bigger than his other shoes.

Worst Design. Worst Customer Service
19 June 2023

It is pretty clear that all Asics are not created equal. The Gel-Kayano is the worst design ever. A block of foam (yes, blocky, not form fitting) behind the upper heel that collapses to lower heel. Shoe becomes virtually unwearable unless you like chunk of material pushing into your lower heel.I have been wearing Asics for decades. Now, I try using their warranty one single time and they send email about how to wear shoes, replying to other issues and not the problem. Not honorable. So annoying to be treated so poorly.
