Well made sneaker with arch support in a wide width. With other sneakers, I tend to over pronate or roll my ankle. When wearing these sneakers, I have never rolled my ankle. I walk 5-7 miles a day in addition to normal daily activities and tend to go through sneakers every 3-4 months. With the exception of the soles I wear out the sneakers always look almost new. Definitely a high quality and well made shoe.

Replaced my kayano 27s with the 28s and found them to fit and feel very comfortable. Similar feel to the 27s I was afraid they would be less supportive without the visible heel counter and trusses but they are just as supportive. I docked some stars however for the build quality, one of the first few times wearing them the back of the right shoe collapsed down as my foot slid in the shoe and cannot be pulled back up. No other pair of Asics has done this to me I hope it's not indicative of current or future quality. Was also disappointed when I read over the Asics return policy stating they must be unworn to return, makes sense with shoes purchased online where you won't get a feel for them....

I have flat feet and find it incredibly difficult to find the right shoes. I tried these shoes for the first time and I am very happy with the purchase. The shoes are very comfortable, soft and beautiful. Especially the front of the shoe is wide. The shoes are made from high quality materials. The size and appearance match the description. Thank you so much for such a technological marvel!

ASICS Kayano 27's feel like they're YOUR shoe. There's nothing worse than putting on shoes that you spend a lot on that just can't feel quite right no matter how tight or loose you tie your laces or no matter what socks you put on with them. That's why the ASICS gel Kayano 27 feels like it's a pair of shoes that feel well worth your money. They have the right balance of cushioning and support to hug your foot to keep your foot well supported down on the arch. The dynamic duomax in the outsole seems to be the right amount of springy feeling mixed with shock absorption to propel and absorb impact away from your legs and feet. The shoe locks in your heel which is a very important part to a support shoe. The dynamic duomax in the outsole seems to be the right amount of springy feeling mixed with shock absorption to propel and absorb impact away from your legs and feet. The shoe locks in your heel which is a very important part to a support shoe. Even when you look down at a Kayano, you can feel happy that your wearing such a great shoe.Unlike the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21, I believe that ASICS has their latest support shoe sitting in that right balance of support without pushing your foot onto over supination (too much pressure on the outside). If you needed to look for an alternative shoe for walking in the Brooks range, I would try the Ghost 13's over the Adrenaline. But if you are after a full bore runner, and you over pronate, you will need the support of a Kayano or Adrenaline to prevent injuries and the Ghost may not lock in your foot enough.Either way, to save your money, you need to find which one works for your needs and the Kayano 27 fits into most of mine. The only tiny thing that I would suggest for ASICS later reiteration is to try to replace the material around the Achilles with a material that locks on better rather than slide over the Achilles like that in Brooks.Although I would say that ASICS have made it silky on to prevent injury to the Achilles when running. So it's no drama to me if they did change it or not.
I am a fifty year old habitual runner who stands 6'6" and weights ~280lbs. I wear a size 16 (4E) shoe. I was hesitant to purchase the GEL-Kayano 28, as I was so pleased with the 27 that I bought every available color scheme. I wondered what, if anything, Asics could do to improve on that model. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! The 28's heel box offers a much more secure fit than the 27's and my foot strike feels less jarring. The GEL-Kayano 28 has replaced its predecessor as my go-to running shoe! Now, I'm just waiting on the new color schemes!
Buyer beware: I recently purchased 2 pairs of Gel-Kayano 9 1/2 4E. 1 pair Black/Clay Grey and 1 pair Black/Electric Red so the shoes would look different so I would be able to rotate shoes every day and not get them mixed up. I have been wearing Asics 9 1/2 4E for years so I know how they fit. My pair of 9 1/2 4 E Black/Electric Red was so tight so I knew something was not correct. I put both style of shoes next to each other (see pic attached) and put a level on the tip of each shoe, and sure enough . . . even though the shoes were supposed to be identical, the level shows something very much different. One pair is smaller (tighter) even though sold as same size. I contacted Asics about this issue and too have them stand behind their products, to which they would ... MoreBuyer beware: I recently purchased 2 pairs of Gel-Kayano 9 1/2 4E. 1 pair Black/Clay Grey and 1 pair Black/Electric Red so the shoes would look different so I would be able to rotate shoes every day and not get them mixed up. As I am a runner that over-pronates, I have always found the Kayano's best to absorb the impact that appears to my upper inner sole. I found the 27's a lot more sturdy than previous versions (26's).As I run around 3-4 times a week, I usually need a second set to offset the impact and also give me longevity. I can say these last around 700-800km before I start losing traction in the upper sole (where I land initially). Cannot fault them as a shoe overall, always try and stick with the versions that work before upgrading to each years 'new version'. If you have had Asics Kayano before, you will find these to be their best versions yet (in my opinion), worth the money!
Unfortunately, I cannot give these shoes a good review. I have owned many Asics in the past, and I have loved them. However, I ordered the extra wide, and these are still pretty narrow. They are comfortable to walk in, I only wore them around the house. However, my wife accidentally threw the tags away, so now I am unable to return them because to return them the policy says that you have to have the original tags. Stuck w shoes that don't fit lol
ive been running ~800miles a year for the last decade. Ive alternated between Brooks, Hokas, and Asics. Was super excited about the new Gel-Kayano 28s but was let down. 4E feels way too snug. the toe box is just wide enough, but the arch and heel are super narrow. All the cushioning seems to be at the heel with very little cushioned on the rest of the shoe. Also, one of the most annoying things is the heel/ankle opening is way too short. If you wear short socks to run, they are gonna get rolled down into the shoe. it needs to be at least an inch higher. feels like i’m running in a slip-on shoe.
It is pretty clear that all Asics are not created equal. The Gel-Kayano is the worst design ever. A block of foam (yes, blocky, not form fitting) behind the upper heel that collapses to lower heel. Shoe becomes virtually unwearable unless you like chunk of material pushing into your lower heel.I have been wearing Asics for decades. Now, I try using their warranty one single time and they send email about how to wear shoes, replying to other issues and not the problem. Not honorable. So annoying to be treated so poorly.
