I wear the 4E width. Earlier wide Kayanos have a less tapered toe box than the 29 the end result being a very comfortable fit for my classic roman shaped foot (think the shape of a Birkenstock). This more tapered toe on the 29 results in the shoe rubbing and catching on my little toe when running. More tolerable for lower intensity activities. This will likely be my last pair unless Asics revert back to their previous toe box shape. :-(

Only run in Kayanos for the last 22 years. I always buy two pairs a year as I know the fit and durability will be there. When the new kayak 29 came out, I bought it and then tried it on and wow! Truly never felt a Kayano this comfortable especially in the flexible upper. Just bought two more pairs as it will probably change in design.NOTE- it truly runs 1/2 size smaller so make sure to order a size up. I am usually a 14 (2E) but had to size up to 15 (2e) to get the perfect fit.

I typically wear a US 9 or EU 42 to 42.5 and these shoes fit true to size (my feet are 10" long). They are very comfortable, stylish, and light weight. One unique thing is their shape from the toe to heal is a lot more curved for the heal-toe running position. Therefore, they are more of a technical running shoe so I would not recommend them for everyday wear because the toe area can feel like you're stepping off a cliff. For running, I highly recommend them and the gel is extremely comfortable. If you're going with ASICS make sure you get shoes with their patented Gel.

As always, this pair of shoes outdoes the rest! It's light, flexible, and tight construction. It has enough cushion and is pleasant to wear on my hour long walks with the dogs on pavement and dirt ditches here in NM. I have a right big toe that made a hole in all four pair of Hoka One One's shoes. In contrast, I have had no problem with that issue with the Gel-Kayano 29 Wide.Getting a half size bigger and wide has really helped with this shoe.I would recommend this shoe to everyone! It fits perfectly. The width is just right. It's extremely comfortable. This shoe, like all of Asics shoes is of perfect quality. I'm a 52 year old male who lives and breathes in New Mexico. I'm a walker every day of the week walking my two dogs.
I've owned 5 pair of these shoes, slightly different design each time. I keep buying them because they come in extra wide and are very comfortable initially. Giving them a 3 star rating though due to the soles wearing out prematurely. For some reason they start to fall apart with large chunks of the sole falling out leaving that shoe less stable. I've never had that happen with other shoes so not sure why it happens on these. Something about the rubber they use I suppose. But again, even if I get 1 year of use I keep buying them because they are so nice the first 6-9 months.

The front end of the shoe points up so that each step kind of rolls into the next, creating a very smooth rhythm when running. I think the new soles were too shiny and smooth, so my feet slid around inside the shoe, creating friction. After a month of running nearly every day (I currently have 170 miles or ~274 km on my shoes), I can confidently say these Gel Kayanos are the best shoes I have purchased so ... The Kayano 29 from Asics, now on its twenty-ninth iteration, provides a few welcome improvements from last year but overall is still a comfortable, fairly expensive, reliable stability shoe.Three improvements that stood out to me:- lighter weight (from 305 grams/10.8 ounces to 299 grams/10.5 ounces in US men's 9)- less invasive support that keeps the foot and the leg comfy at all times- new midsole that offers squishier landingsAreas Asics could improve this shoe:- still no gusseted tongue- laces that get all twisted (Brooks shoes have solved this with lie-flat laces)- more breathable upperI'd recommend the Kayano 29 and have enjoyed running in them.
These just dont agree with me. They are comfortable and I could see my self breezing through a 12 hour nursing shift no problem, but the padding has no rebound when running. I feel like I am working at least 30% harder to try and maintain my usual pace. (8:20/mile) It is like im just sinking into the padding while the shoe just compresses on the pavement, and my body is getting exhausted faster. I bought these expecting them to help with logging longer distances and I can barely finish my current average. 180$ mistake I guess.
