I've been wearing Kayano's daily for 20 years and have never had any issues. The 30th redesigned version had a terrible break in period rending me heal problems plus is the only Kayano that has ever given me blisters (let alone massive in size) behind my toes on the ball of my foot. A simple walk messes with my heels so much that I have difficultly walking several days after. If this "redesign" is the direction Asics is taking Kayano, Then for the first time in 20 years, I will no longer purchase Asics. The wider sole also makes driving more difficult. 20 years of no issues to complete destruction of my feet on this 30th version. Very disappointed.

Trainers I can finally rely on after many years wearing cheaper versions and being constantly disappointed. I'm an old, heavy walker who exercises every day and spends all day on my feet (nurse). Fascitis was the bane of my existence until I found these trainers. Cleared up a problem that wasn't fixed by bespoke insoles or fancy podiatry consultations. I have the older model for work and brand new ones for the treadmill. One week at work wearing these and the pain was gone. So now I have 2 pairs! They are amazing for my wide 'man' feet too. I can wear black ones with jeans, work uniform, gym kit. I'm in them all day. The only negative is the top toe fabric is thinning and I'm putting a hole in my first pair. I don't care - they've done some miles so a third pair ... MoreTrainers I can finally rely on after many years wearing cheaper versions and being constantly disappointed. As a loyal Asics runner, I can say that these are the best running trainers I've tried yet! To compare them to the ASICS GT 2000v11 shoes which I already own, the gel in the base of the shoe provides great comfort and ensures that the sole of the foot lands comfortably. The shaping around the ankle is perfect and there is no rubbing. I managed to run a 5k PB owing to the spring in the raised sole. An absolutely brilliant pair of stylish shoes - the splash of colour brings an element of fun! The only criticism is that the laces, like all ASICS, are too short if you want to add a runner's loop to the top hole for additional ankle support. Despite this, I would recommend to any level of runner!

Every runner will have their own preference for shoes, dependent on their running style and the type of running they do - so for context, I usually go for Brooks Launch for road running, which has minimal cushioning and is very light. The Asics Gel-Kayano has a lot of cushioning in the sole and I found the heel height quite weird. The back of the shoe also has a lot of cushioning around your heel but I found this pushed my foot forward. I got this in my usual running shoe size (one size bigger than other shoes) but because of the forward tilting heel, my toes felt forced into the end - perhaps need to go 1.5-2 sizes up. The sole itself didn't seem very flexible, perhaps because of all the foam, so running felt quite flat footed and not very springy. The sole itself didn't seem very flexible, perhaps because of all the foam, so running felt quite flat footed and not very springy. After trying these on a few 10k runs, mostly on pavement, I went back to my old Brooks, which make running for me more comfortable. The Asics are fine for walking, though I think the bulky sole looks a bit weird. The colours on the shoes are nice though, I particularly like the blue on the foam at the front.
I really loved the colourway on these trainers, they are pretty versatile so will go with most colour outfits. The upper is black with a subtle yellow & purple, there is lovely splash of colour along the sole, in a bright rich cobalt blue running along in an ombre effect to turquoise/aqua. The underneath is white/yellow.These trainers feel and look great quality, they are super comfortable and your foot feels well cushioned and supported. I've managed a few 5ks in these without any issues although would say the heel is a little on the bulky side compared to my other trainers (Nike Pegasus 40), however I think you'd get used to this.I would say they come up a little on the small size so would recommend going up half a size.
I’ve waited patiently for a year for the Kayano 30 after skipping the 29s which was quite a departure from my faithful Kayano 28s.The 30s were not worth the wait.A totally revamped overbuilt shoe - like a hoka bondi with ASICS branding. The step in feel is amazing and initially you feel these shoes are so comfortable while walking. Once you start to run the true Kayano 30 reveals itself. The shoe runs a little narrow and short so be aware. The upper is much better than the 29 but has little in the way of ventilation. A wide midsole gives the impression of stability however the overly soft cushioned foam lends itself to an unstable ponderous run. I felt I had to fight the cushion as i sank into it to propel myself forward. This is not the Kayano you grew up with. I wear size 14. At that size, the shoe is just gigantic. Running in them was like running with a pair of pontoon boats on my feet. I started making contact with my opposite leg in the swing phase because the shoes are so bulky. I saw reviews from runners wearing size 9 and 10. The shoes already look big at that size. Well, the higher you go, they bigger the shoe as they maintain the proportions. At size 14, these shoes are similar in size to my basketball high-tops from the 1990s. That's not to mention that the shoe tech is completely different than the previous shoe. This isn't an evolution, it is a revolution. Why isn't this just a completely new shoe? First time running in ASICS and I'm impressed. Having read that earlier iterations of this shoe tended to come up small, especially in the toe box, I was a little worried, but this new designed model seems to have overcome that obstacle - I had no issue with my usual running shoe size (being a size up from dress/casual shoes)The shoes have a premium look and feel, matching the price tag, which is noticeable as soon as they are on your feet. Cushiony soft with a comfortable upper that holds your foot securely. These are definitely a shoe for longer, slow runs - the weight prevents them from being used for speedier workouts or tempo runs. Think long Sunday recovery run - this however makes them a tad expensive compared to other shoes in the same bucket.Overall, ... MoreFirst time running in ASICS and I'm impressed. These running trainers are amazing. I love ASICS trainers for running and have had a few pairs in the past so jumped at the chance to try these. They are fabulous. Well cushioned, supportive of the whole foot and especially around the ankle area. I tend to overpronate but purchase shoes for a neutral foot and these were perfect. Sizing was spot on too. I usually size up a little as I find that my feet swell with running so best to have some room. I'm usually a 5.5 shoe size but take size 6 for running. These were perfect. I'd recommend doing the same.I love the pop of colour too. They look very stylish without compromising comfort. My only comment would be that they feel quite snug when getting on but once your feet are in, there is no discomfort at all. I tend to go out for 2-3 runs a week.I would highly recommend these trainers for running but they would also be perfect for long walks and daily use.
I was totally disappointed. I had several kayanos in the past but somehow this kayano 30 has a flaw. I was running and when I reached about 20 minutes of running my right shoe started to feel uneven underneath my toes and it felt like the insole had a big gap in between my right toes and my right heel. I want to keep on running but it felt like my right shoe was out of balance and I started to feel pain on my right foot also so I stopped and I started walking. The funny part was the moment I started walking for few minutes the hole or gap I felt in between my toes and right heel was gone. The right shoe insole felt the same or back to normal before I started running. So, for now I went back to my old Kayano 27 with no issues whatsoever.
