Defective Shoes, NOT Willing to CORRECT

I purchased two pair of these shoes. One pair fit perfectly like so many ASIC sneakers i have owned over the years. The second pair caused significant irritation on my heal near the inner sole. I am not able to use the second pair. I submitted a warranty form, and since there is no VISIBLE defect, ASICS will not correct the issue. Instead they sent me an extensive email on how to properly tie my shoes. NOT WORTH THE CHANCE.

I have flat feet and find it incredibly difficult to find the right shoes. I tried these shoes for the first time and I am very happy with the purchase. The shoes are very comfortable, soft and beautiful. Especially the front of the shoe is wide. The shoes are made from high quality materials. The size and appearance match the description. Thank you so much for such a technological marvel!

Heel padding was defective

I bought this shoe around Christmas to wear to work. I did not wear them for a few weeks when I first got them. Upon the first wear, I noticed that the right heel padding/cushioning was off. I thought maybe it was just getting used to the fit. By day 3 I decided they were defective because the entire padding in the heel had slid to the bottom. It felt like a bunched up sock back there. This should not be the case for this kind of shoe. I've worn ASICS for work and exercise for 10+ years and never had a heel break down like this. The warranty department rejected the claim because it's not a manufacturing defect. I was told that it is how I put the shoe on. I offered to send the pair in so that they can see the difference in the right and left, but no. I have the same ... MoreI bought this shoe around Christmas to wear to work. Literal Garbage
8 August 2022

Longtime Kayano fan who is done with the brand after this experience. The heel in this shoe collapsed after three wears inside my house. It is evident by even merely touching the foam inside both shoes that the one with the collapsed heel is defective. The foam is literally neither full, plush in the same spots, or even gathered at the top, which why it collapsed.Asics claims this is due to “fit and feel” and stated that the collapsed heel was my fault for putting on the shoe incorrectly.I guess it’s just a literal miracle I’ve managed to somehow not collapse all the heels on all my other Kayanos that I put on precisely the same way without issue. After multiple successive quality issues, I’m done with this brand. The only thing worse than the quality control at this point is the similar decline in customer service. Bummer, tbh.

Not the same Kayano
30 October 2022

The 28 series are not the same. I believe I received a defective pair but with no visible issues. Left shoe would roll to the side. I called Customer Support and received a tabloid answer-send us pictures of the defect. I did not expect such a poor interaction. No one wanted even to discuss the issue with me. I have been customer for life but because of this experience, my purchasing choices are changing. ASICS might have made money on this pair but will loose in a long run. Disappointing!

Outsole ungluing only after 7 wears :-(
6 April 2023

I do high intensity dance aerobics. Love the cushion this shoe provides and my feet aren't killing me after wearing them for an hour. I bought this in November and rotate my shoes when I exercise. Sadly, parts of the sole (closer to the pinky toe) on my left foot have become unglued and I've only worn it 7 times. I tried re-gluing, but I didn't do a great job. I'll continue trying since there is still life remaining in the shoe and I paid a decent amount for it. Just wished it didn't happen so soon.

Reliable Support
11 August 2022

Asics runners are reliable for consistent sizing and fit throughout different model years. My partner has worn the Kayano for years and finds this model, like the previous ones to provide substantial lateral support without excessive bulk. The feeling is more firm than pillowy but forefoot cushioning is very good. Previous models have proven to be durable and this new one looks to be constructed equally well. More expensive than some of Asics' base models sold at big box stores, but much more of a reliable, well made shoe suitable for high milage running on roads or moderate trails.

Shoe sucks & company does not stand behind product
9 August 2022

Buyer beware: I recently purchased 2 pairs of Gel-Kayano 9 1/2 4E. 1 pair Black/Clay Grey and 1 pair Black/Electric Red so the shoes would look different so I would be able to rotate shoes every day and not get them mixed up. I have been wearing Asics 9 1/2 4E for years so I know how they fit. My pair of 9 1/2 4 E Black/Electric Red was so tight so I knew something was not correct. I put both style of shoes next to each other (see pic attached) and put a level on the tip of each shoe, and sure enough . . . even though the shoes were supposed to be identical, the level shows something very much different. One pair is smaller (tighter) even though sold as same size. I contacted Asics about this issue and too have them stand behind their products, to which they would ... MoreBuyer beware: I recently purchased 2 pairs of Gel-Kayano 9 1/2 4E. 1 pair Black/Clay Grey and 1 pair Black/Electric Red so the shoes would look different so I would be able to rotate shoes every day and not get them mixed up. Buyer beware. If you wear the shoes once and take off the tag, they will not refund your money or stand behind their products.

Very Comfortable but Terrible Build Quality
21 May 2022

I've been wearing Kayano's since the Kayano 24 was released and they normally last 18 months before I wear the sole down. I'm not a runner but I'm on my feet all day and do a lot of walking.I've had my current pair of Kayano 28's for 8 months and they are ready for the bin.The first pair I bought had to be returned and replaced within 24 hours of buying them. The red Inner sole completely failed and turned into a crumbling mess of red powdery foam. The replacement pair were OK but within a couple of months the sole began separating at the edges. There is a very thin layer of rubber that comes away at the edges and I need to use rubber glue to stick it back on.This is a common fault when reading reviews from around the world.I'll be trying a different brand ... MoreI've been wearing Kayano's since the Kayano 24 was released and they normally last 18 months before I wear the sole down. Worst Design. Worst Customer Service
19 June 2023

It is pretty clear that all Asics are not created equal. The Gel-Kayano is the worst design ever. A block of foam (yes, blocky, not form fitting) behind the upper heel that collapses to lower heel. Shoe becomes virtually unwearable unless you like chunk of material pushing into your lower heel.I have been wearing Asics for decades. Now, I try using their warranty one single time and they send email about how to wear shoes, replying to other issues and not the problem. Not honorable. So annoying to be treated so poorly.
