I have been running in the GT-2000 series exclusively since 2015. I pretty much stopped running for the past couple years, but picked it up again about 6 months ago with a new pair of GT-2000 10s. Then I thought maybe it was the shoes, and maybe I just needed something with more cushion now. So I went to my local running store to try out a bunch of different shoes and WOW, the GT-2000 has certainly changed. I never would've thought that I would want a big change to a shoe I had been so loyal to for so long, but the updates have made them even more comfortable and more fun to run in. I've only taken them on a couple runs so far, but they felt great on both an easy run and a tempo run, and my shin issues were non-existent on both. Big fan of the GT-2000 12 and the updates they made.

The initial feel is great. Very comfortable, lightweight shoe. I don't think this version comes in a max comfort which is the ride I prefer. That said, it holds up pretty well on shorter runs. It seems to lose some of its support/comfort in the later stages of longer runs. But its the shoe that comes in the size that I need and overall it is manageable.

I have been wearing the GT-2000 series since 2012, when my physical therapist suggested I give it a try. The last couple of updates have been disappointing and had me looking at other brands. But for my feet and my running style, the version 12 is 100% right. I am so glad I tried one more time. The shoe is what it states it is, a stability shoe with a wide toe box (no smashed toes), not the fastest, but a good, comfortable every day running shoe, and walking too.

Great product as always. Lightweight, supportive and decent cushion. I love this update. I am 6 foot male 260 lbs and do 13 hr shifts in the hospital along with jogs and gym. Perfect shoe!
This new version is on point! I have 6 pair of 10’s, didn’t care for the 11’s at all. The 12’s are big improvement even from the 10’s! The soles are perfected. I really like the new tongue. I run 100-120 miles per month and get between 300-350 miles /pair.
While the shoe continues its improvements from season to season, one “improvement” is NOT appreciated. The tongue on this shoe is a vast departure from standard cushioned tongues and has been replaced with a very thin tongue with the tiniest bit of engineered cushioning. This consistently causes irritation, to the point of feeling bruised. I hope this experiement in refining the shoe and shaving off fractions of an ounce at the expense of comfort over long distances is abandoned.
Asics have knocked it put the park, if you need passive to moderate stability this shoe is a serious option. It’s stable, smooth & lightweight, with just enough bounce to be useful from easy to threshold sessions. Perfect for training or 5k/10k racing
I've been wearing the GT-2000 for almost 20 years. This new version has a new tongue made out of different material that cuts into your ankle and is very uncomfortable. Unfortunately the material does not seem like it will break in over time. I've been trying to get used to them but don't think it will break in over time. Please bring back the old style!
I made the (bad) decision of buying hiking boots the week of the hike as the weather forecast was too bad for trainers. I ordered a few pairs and by far were these the most comfortable, so I decided to wear them and pack my trainers in my rucksack just in case I struggled at any point with rubbing or stiffness. I can safely say I did not need my trainers and keeping these were the best decision! They are SO incredibly comfortable. From the minute I put them on they fit like a glove and were so supportive. Would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for walking boots. I took a half size up - they were perfect.
I tried this shoe on in-store. Admittedly, I prefer a wide or extra-wide width which are not available yet. I own three pairs of GT-2000 10(s) wide, my favorite shoe ever! Also, I have one GT-2000 11 wide. The changes made from 10 to 11 didn’t make the shoe any better, and although not as good as the 10, I still purchased a pair and am satisfied. The version 12 is another story altogether! Although the 8mm heel to toe drop is the same, the 12’s heel height increased 10mm and the toe section feels much higher also. Basically, the extra heights makes the sneaker less stable feeling compared to the 10 and 11. Also, the heel and mid-sole gel cushioning feels significantly stiffer and less plush (non-gel like feeling, which is why most people purchase ASICS in the first ... MoreI tried this shoe on in-store. Definite thumbs down for the GT-2000 12 overhaul.
