ASICS metaspeed sky review.I’ve been a Hoka shoe lover for some time I bought and run in all there shoes I favoured my other branding for years to the point I even told friends to buy them and wear them.Roll forward to last month I done some good research and stumbled across ASICS metaspeed sky after extensive research I bought them.Iam not going to lie they are the best fitting and responsive shoe I have ever worn they have giving me a few good PBs so far.And in a weeks time they will be worn for my 50mile ultra race and i’am hoping for a good podium finish.I will be buying ASICS in the future for trials and everyday running trading shoes they are by far the best forward out there and the metaspeed sky are the real deal.

I was lucky to get last two pairs at the end of this model. It’s obviously better quality then the also been replaced plus models. Because it’s a balance build, it land softly, safe energy, and made me run with not much injury after run. I tried few brands but none of them gave this excellent performance.

However my experience with these shoes has been total satisfaction, to the point that I think I will be an addicted buyer! I have been a competitive runner for 50 years and have tried every type of new shoe, but none has transformed my running like these. On the first run, I reduced my mile pace more than 15 seconds. I've only had them for about 10 days, but I love the see the progress with these shoes. Yesterday I ran the Carlsbad 5000 and beat my pre-race goal by almost 1 minute. I even had enough energy reserved at the end that I kicked hard in final stretch and with nearly 4:30 mile speed...something I had not seen in quite some time:)

I've only used this shoe for a few 10K races, and I must say... WOW! This is an amazing shoe! The upper is light and breathable, with an excellent lockdown, and surprisingly comfortable. The midsole is where the magic is. The FlyteFoam Blast Turbo is soft and responsive. The amount of energy return is unreal, and when you load that carbon fiber plate, the spring back is noticeable. At slower paces, the ride is like that of the Glideride. It rolls through your gait cycle effortlessly, and because the weight is so low, it turns over quickly and easily. The outsole has plenty of grip, although when I had to pass some people on the damp grass, there was a little bit of slip, though not as much as I thought. Not that any of these super shoes are good for stability, but if you overpronate, you may have some problems. Its not the most stabile, but more than other super shoes. Overall, this is a fun shoe to run in. A great training companion to go with this is the Novablast 2.
This is my second pair of MetaSpeeds (I also ran in the Tokyo version). Both are for marathon trading/racing. I love the shoe. I have found my avg training pace to be 15-30 seconds faster per mile with same level of effort just from the shoes!However, both pairs I’ve owned caused blisters on my Achilles/heel. After breaking them in, they were fine. I do choose my socks carefully, especially for the first 5ish times wearing.I also found the show runs small. I have worn ASICS GT2000 for many many years and always a size 9. For this show, I had to move to a 9.5 and it’s still a little snug on the top of my toes.

I set a new PB in a HM and have also used it for a 10km race and was able to compare it to the Vaporfly as I’d done the course the month before.The shoe provides great heel support unlike the Vaporfly and has great cushioning and you feel the carbon plate propel you forward, more so the faster you run.There are a few things that could be improved, which are the laces, but not major, but the tongue could be a little longer. But the big thing I found was the narrow toe box and I don’t have wide feet, I also have the magic speed and they are fine, but these squeeze my toes and I’m not sure I could run a marathon in them unfortunately ... Wow.Phenomenal.These bad boys are absolute rockets. The rocker/drops/carbon plate in combination, with notable energy return of the flyte foam has decreased my 5k time from 22:01 to 20:28 after a couple of sessions getting used to them.They are light and comfortable, but fit snug (except for the toe box). Glad I went for a half size up.My only criticism would be that they feel fragile.The foam on the base is wearing very quickly; after about 20k, there is substantial visible full loss of grip on the soul. One area has lost all grip. My running form isn't to blame as this does not apply to my other shoes.Buy these. Keep them for race days/ personal best attempts. Run like a beast.

After a few good to great experiments with other brands, the Asics have stood out on just about every front, and my legs feel great - almost rested - at the end of most of my runs, with the calf injuries a thing of the past. Speedwise these are everything people say - I'm 57 and not super fast. but these make an 8-minute mile a breeze for me and faster if I'm running on consistently level ground (a rarity with the hills I tackle). Incredibly comfortable the first time I tried them on, and they just keep getting better.
I run in many top tier running shoes from many brands. Alphas, vapor’s, endorphin’s etc.. and I have to admit that the meta sky is in my top 2 favorite shoes to run in. The perfect degree of softness , comfort and weight. It just works perfect with my running mechanics. Lightweight , breathable, and the awesome color. Albeit its more of a neon orange in person as opposed to the more reddish hue in photos. But I still love the color. And one awesome thing about ASICS, is how much they support military members. I mean the discount for military is the best I’ve seen of any brand anywhere. If you’re on the fence, hop off and buy with the comfort of knowing your getting a top of the line product. Can’t recommend this shoe or this brand enough.
