I just set a personal best using these shoes at the Philadelphia Marathon last Sunday. As a middle of the pack runner in terms of speed, these shoes were everything I needed and more. While I do all of my training in light stability shoes like Asics' DS Trainers, these shoes had enough inherent stability from their structure that my feet suffered zero ill effects in my race. (Disclaimer: I built up to the marathon distance by using these in a speedwork session, a 10K, a half, and a 16 mile training run. Plus required strength training.) For any fellow overpronators who are hesitating on buying a technically neutral shoe, let me be the first one to tell you that you can train your feet to adapt to lesser support then what's otherwise recommended to you. And given that carbon plated shoes help correct one's form, you can just go on race day.Perfectly lightweight, breathable, and secure around the upper and heel cup. If you've worn Asics for your entire running career as I have, your foot will feel right at home since the general shape has similarities to their other models. Release some new colors. My only constructive criticism? I'll be buying new pairs for years to come. Maybe black, red and gold?

I purchased these after extensive research when looking for a new Marathon shoe. I have been a big Asics fan for a long time and most of my research told me how great the Metaspeed Sky+ is regardless of running style. Even cadence runners said that over a marathon distance, they would take the Sky+ over the Edge+. Well this shoe simple DOES NOT work for me. I find it stiff without being responsive and no pop at all even when I get completely on my toes. They feel like I'm wearing bricks and not high end racing shoes. My cumulus 24s with 500+ miles are more responsive than these. What makes it worse is that Asics doesn't allow exchanges, so I'm stuck with them. Maybe I can sell them on ebay. I've only used this shoe for a few 10K races, and I must say... WOW! This is an amazing shoe! The upper is light and breathable, with an excellent lockdown, and surprisingly comfortable. The midsole is where the magic is. The FlyteFoam Blast Turbo is soft and responsive. The amount of energy return is unreal, and when you load that carbon fiber plate, the spring back is noticeable. At slower paces, the ride is like that of the Glideride. It rolls through your gait cycle effortlessly, and because the weight is so low, it turns over quickly and easily. The outsole has plenty of grip, although when I had to pass some people on the damp grass, there was a little bit of slip, though not as much as I thought. On pavement (which is what its made for) was fantastic. My only ... MoreI've only used this shoe for a few 10K races, and I must say... WOW! This is an amazing shoe! On pavement (which is what its made for) was fantastic. My only complaint was the back heel area. The rubber doesnt go far back enough for those heel strikes, especially closer to the end of the run when your body is breaking down and becoming sloppy. Thus, the exposed foam is taking a beating. Its not too bad so far, but im saving these for race days only. I'm not taking a full star off for that, so lets say its a 4.5/5. Not that any of these super shoes are good for stability, but if you overpronate, you may have some problems. Its not the most stabile, but more than other super shoes. Overall, this is a fun shoe to run in. A great training companion to go with this is the Novablast 2.

Whether ASICS did it on purpose or not, I feel like there's a reason these shoes are called Sky+ for a reason because they make you feel like you're flying. The first time I wore them, I broke the cardinal rule of "nothing new on race day" but I figured you could make an exception for a 5 mile race. The result? I was floored. Not only did I run a new PR for the distance, I wanted to keep going. I could have kept going. These shoes propelled me forward and allowed me to run in a more efficient way to the point where fast paces felt almost effortless. The energy return on these are insane and I couldn't believe the difference they made compared to my normal trainers.I've run in other brands' carbon fiber racers, and these are my favorites. I've run two marathons and multiple other races and these are my go-to's for all of them. And despite all of the miles I've put on them, which is probably approaching 250 or so, they're holding up incredibly well and still have that snappy return with each stride. I'll still use my usual rotation of shoes of various other brands for training, but I'll always grab these first on race day.
I bought this online over the Easter weekend hoping to try it before the London Marathon. It was shipped on time but for some reason got stuck at the courier company’s depot. They delivered after chasing. On first use of about 5k, I found a clear benefit from the carbon layer. It was super light as well and I was thrilled. I tried it on a HM training run the next day. Unfortunately my right ankle was paining badly like never before. I went to the ASICS London Oxford Street to return the same. Unfortunately they refused as it was bought online from ASICS.com . Luckily I used the opportunity to analyse my gait. The staff were helpful and suggested that I needed a Kenos 29 on account of over pronation. It turned out to be a great choice as I completed LM in PB. So in ... MoreI bought this online over the Easter weekend hoping to try it before the London Marathon. I bought this shoe two weeks ago but didn’t have time to open it till 2 days ago. I had been using meta speed sky for couple months. So I am very excited to try this one. First, the arch support filling is missing from package. It doesn’t looks like brand new. Then I noticed wrinkles all over the midsole. I mistaken it as a sign of being worn and used. So I returned immediately. Later I went to ASICS direct store and examined few pair and found out each one has many small wrinkles all over the shoe. So this is a manufacturing issue. I never find any official review talks about this. Thus I am pointing out here. I am afraid it will affect product lifespan and balancing. I do not want to take any risk so I bought the original sky instead. With the limited time I have ... MoreI bought this shoe two weeks ago but didn’t have time to open it till 2 days ago. Maybe more cushioning but not as soft and bouncy.
If you’re on the fence as to whether you should buy these then I’d highly recommend going for it! I’ve recently managed a half marathon PB in these and have even noticed my training pace is noticeably quicker both when pushing and taking things easier. This will be down to my training too, but feel like this shoe maximises my performance. You really notice the ‘pop’ when your running takes you up some steps; popping up 2 steps at a time feels so easy.If you’re running on an uneven surface then I’d take care as you can get quite a bit of ankle roll due to the height, although you do get a wide surface contact area with your foot planted - perfect for the road/ pavement but I wouldn’t wear these on mixed runs where you encounter uneven grassy/ gravel tracks. Quite wide in the toe box but that’s why I buy Asics!
Amazing shoe, ran the San Diego Marathon after only wearing them for a week prior to that and had no issues during the race. After that it has taken me a little while to adjust to the extra cushioning as I have ran in Nike Pegasus for years and those have very little foam. The shoes are very light, the material mesh airs out and you feel the air come through your feet when running, I love that! The laces are made of a cotton material instead of the high polyester material for most shoe laces are made of and that helps the knots stay in place, they don’t come unloose. I’m a 8.5 in regular shoes and ordered a 9 to have that extra space in the front for downhill running, originally wished I had ordered a 9.5 as they felt a bit tight for my personal preference, however ... MoreAmazing shoe, ran the San Diego Marathon after only wearing them for a week prior to that and had no issues during the race. They still fit a little snuggle if I wear thicker running socks so will order a 9.5 when I get the new Metaspeed Sky+ (lime green/dark blue). As far as performance, I feel a difference when running fast (6-7 minute miles). I feel the shoes make me lean forward slightly making me use gravity to propel me forward and run on my toes naturally. In short, I do feel faster but that may be due to them being so light. Overall very satisfied, Nike has lost an all time customer and 10+ year runner. This shoe won me over for ASICS. <3
This is my favorite running shoes I have ever owned over 15 plus years of running. It has a lower heel drop at 5 mm than a majority of running shoes out there. I could feel that as soon as I put them on and was not convinced I would like them. However, after a couple of runs I completely changed my mind. I am a mid foot striker, tend to get some mid foot pain and I found these both very well cushioned AND extremely responsive. They definitely gives some energy back with every stride. They are a bit wider in the toe box as well if you have a wider mid foot. I run on country roads and the material of the upper keeps my feet cool and dust free which is a nice change. If you are looking for a very well cushioned, responsive and light longer distance shoe, this one is ... MoreThis is my favorite running shoes I have ever owned over 15 plus years of running. These may well be the best shoes Ive ever had. Still getting used to them if Im honest as coming from Altra so having to change my form slightly, although very much appreciate the lower toe drop of these compared to a lot of shoes.I cant say anything about the durability at the moment. My initial concern was the lack of more substantial, durable, rubber towards the back of the shoe. But this seem a liitle unfounded as the shoe feels like it encourages mid to forefoot striking. In terms of comfort, i've had recent issues with achiles and forefoot soreness and its just not a problem with these shoes, so great in that respect. But all things considered, they are alas a racing shoe.In terms of Fit, some shoes I'm an 8, some an 8.5. An 8 would have felt too small I suspect. My only dissapointment is not with this shoe specifically, but the Asics product range. The toe drop, the cushioning, the ride, the fit... all perfect. But Asics dont appear to have a non carbon shoe of a similar geometry that is designed to be more durable (if very slightly heavier). For that I may have to look elsewhere. There is a competitor that appears to have taken this insight on board so hoping Asics will follow suit.
