The best-selling highly anticipated super trainer is back for the second edition! Known for its lightweight comfort, performance and versatility from daily training, long runs to tempo work and even race day. ASICS has updated the design and construction with a new one-piece woven engineered mesh for a stretchier and more comfortable fit. I only run on trails, California hilly dirt, dry and damp, fireroads and single-track with lots of climbing/ descending/ off chamber. My bodyweight is 155lbs, my mens 11 fits like the last was designed around my foot, always wear thin socks, running about 40-50 mpw. The main things about the shoe are weight, precise fit, grippy minimal outsole, long haull performance cushioning, rad tounge that prevents lace bite and doesn't migrate, and relative stability considering the stack. The forefoot: Out of the box new, for me, the forefoot is WAY TOO STIFF for trail running..... gently, I began manually flexing the forefoot to the midfoot zone (metatarsal to arch) and found that the foam was quite flexible after manually working it in. I can bend the shoes 180 degrees back on themselves now -- stiffness gone and the shoes are great climbers now. I like the micro treads much more than 4-5 mm knobs/treads found on most trail shoes. This shoe goes fast on flats or any angle. I think if you have a relatively dry trail run- ultra, 50k up to 250 miles, and you enjoy performance cushion, I would check these shoes out. This shoe and the Mag Max have basically made my other shoes work shoes or Goodwill shoes. Last but not least... I have 3 pairs of the Superblast 2, and I try to give the midsole 3-4 days between runs.

The Superblast 2 are a well cushioned running shoe. However, if you are looking for an upgraded experience from the Novablast prepare to be disappointed. I wear I size 13…it weighs 10.6 oz compared to 10.3 for Novablast. But the HUGE difference is the length of the sole. Superblast sole is 3/4 inch longer than approximately than Novablast. Hence you will have to adjust running in shoes 2 sizes larger. ASICS has a zero return policy… once you run in them ….you own them. Unless you want to return them at a licensed ASICS distributor at a slightly used discounted price. I would have to drive 100 miles to find out that price. ASICS make some great shoes, just beware if you step out and try something new they offer and it doesn’t work for you….well as the saying goes you ... I have MANY running shoes but skipped the first Superblast despite all the hype and eagerly awaited this new version with the updates to the upper, midsole, and outsole. I have to say that the Superblast 2 has exceeded my expectations in every which way as it is so good at so many different types of runs while providing a fun, exciting, consistent, and reliable ride. It's better at faster paces than slow paces, but I find it fine for easy slow runs as well. It excels on the long runs as the ride is consistent from the first mile to the 20th mile. I can see why some are happy to run full marathons with this shoe. The upper is very comfortable, breathable, and is TTS. The lockdown is secure. The midsole, to me, is very balanced although it can feel a little firm at times. The forefoot bounce is where the magic is at with this shoe. The feel and ride is consistent and adapts easily and quickly to pace changes. The base is quite wide to provide excellent stability, but due to the bulk, it isn't the most nimble shoe. Still, the light weight makes it great for tempo runs and even speed workouts.I now have three pairs of the Superblast 2 already and I'll probably end up with more as new colorways are released. This is now my number one shoe that I'll use for the great majority of my runs. I'm 59yo, have been running almost 3 years now, and average 70~80 miles per week. I'm light (5-7 or 167cm and 125lbs or 57kg) and my PBs are 20:30 for 5k, 43:00 for 10K and 1:40 for HM. I'm planning to run my first FM sometime next year and the Superblast 2 will be my main shoe for the training. The Superblast 2 exceeded my expectations even with the hype and great anticipation and that says something. I mainly run for the pure enjoyment of running than preparing for races and chasing PBs. The Superblast 2 has taken that enjoyment to a whole new level for me. It's not only the Shoe of the Year for me, but the G.O.A.T. that I'm excited to lace up, and that's the highest complement I can give to a shoe.

I've been running in the Asics Superblast 2 for a month now and so far it's been great. At first, I was skeptical about the shoe due to its firmer midsole compared to the other shoes in my rotation that has a softer and responsive midsole. It took me several runs in this shoe to fully appreciate this midsole. The upper is nice and comfortable and found it to be breathable with no hotspots. The laces are adequate in length and have enough length for me to do a runner's knot. The midsole has a medium firmness yet responsive and protective for those long runs. Supposedly, this new FF Turbo Plus is softer than its previous version but for me it's feels a bit firm. The outsole rubber is great with very good grip. I did not have any issues when running through wet pavement. Importantly, the overall weight of the shoes is quite light for a super trainer with my size men's 9.5 coming in at 9.1 ounces.Lastly, the Superblast 2 is very versatile in that it is suitable for slow to fast paces. However, I did find the shoe to be best at faster paces and that's where it shines. If there should be any improvement for its next iteration, it should be a reduction in weight and even a softer midsole. Also, better availability for customers since I had to be lucky to snag a pair!
I recently had surgery for a hiatal hernia. My surgeon recommended that I lose weight before the sugery. I was up around 210. I bought the super blast 2s because when I started to try to jog my heels hurt.OMGAfter getting the Superblast 2s and going jogging not only did my heels not hurt, I was also springing into the next step.My previous running shoes were also ASICS, however, they were over 10 years old.I was shocked and pleased by how much difference 10 years made.I lost about 5 pounds before surgery.Little did I know that I would be on a liquid diet post surgery. It has been a little over two weeks and I am down to 191 pounds.Just being able to eat enough to have the strength to start jogging again.Been told I get to eat mashed potatoes for thanks ... Firstly I have to say I love ASICS, the Metaspeed Sky Paris is my PB shoe. But the Superblast is to me just an average trainer. Is it the 'best', well its subjective. On many accounts it is good. Preface here - I am not an elite runner at all nor run fast fast, I just run and as an average runner is this shoe a value play? Not in my opinion. Zoomfly 6 / Pegasus Plus / Hoka Mach / NB Rebel / SC Trainer any one of those shoes and more can give you a similar ride depending on your foot width and strike, equal to the blast. If you have a wide foot like me you always struggle to get a comfy fit so I'd pick the SC Trainer, but some find it a little soft, but I have never found this to be true. SB is a firmer ride but its just a smidge to much a shoe as for a wider foot I needed to half size up and that solved the width issue but then now I have a brick so for me it would only be a one trick pony. Overall the shoe is good but if value is key metric you can do better and if over sizing bothers you also then you can find alternatives I think. 6/10
First of, believe the hype! This is my first pair of ASICS and I absolutely love them. For my last marathon build, I ran all my long runs in the NB SuperComp trainer v2. But I wasn't impressed by the new version 3. A friend recommended the SuperBlast for my next marathon training block. I secured a pair at my local running store when they released. They run true to size as I'm a 9 in everyday shoes and I run in 9.5. Without even breaking them in, I took them out on a 16 mile long run workout. These felt great for both easy efforts and MP miles. As someone who runs often on fatigued legs, the SB feels energizing with each stride. $200 ain't cheap, but this shoe truly is worth the price tag in my opinion. The Gold Standard!!I’ve been a loyal ASICS fan for 30 years!! The Superblast 2 is incredible! As a dedicated marathoner, I went through 3 pair of Superblast and now on second pair of Superblast 2. Incredible features!Excellent cushioning with soft landings but incredible spring, bounce, responsiveness. Fast shoe but supportive and light. Very fun to run on.If it feels awkward to run on at first, please give it time.It is truly a revolutionary shoe and worth your trust!!Legs, hips, knees recover so much faster with these puppies. These shoes are super heroes!!It is also a very smooth transition with Novablast (4). Excellent pairing.ASICs continues to set the standard. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I bought the black pair a couple of weeks ago and ran, averaging 40+ miles weekly on the elliptical and outside on the pavement. After 80+ miles, the shoes still feel excellent, and Superblast 2 is the best running shoe I have owned. For the last 15 years, I have loved, trained and competed wearing the Kayano's but wanted a much lighter shoe still high-quality, durable, and supportive. I needed a top-rated running shoe that could take a beating, as I average 500 miles every 3-4 months on the elliptical and outside on the pavement. I did not expect the shoes to be so incredibly lightweight, a stark difference from the Kayanos, yet they feel exceptionally durable and supportive. I originally ordered my usual size but they were a bit too big, so I returned them and ordered a 1/2 size down, and the fit is perfect in every way. These shoes are incredibly comfortable with a secure and reassuring fit and lockdown. I love the padding on the tongue and the laces are great. I have taken them for a couple runs and I am impressed. The ride is a little firm but very responsive, very much like my Metaspeed Sky Paris race day shoes. For a non-plated shoe the Superblast 2 is very impressive. Great for all types of runs and oh so kind to my legs. I just love running in them and they look fantastic, a truly beautifully designed and crafted shoe. Do yourself a favour, buy a pair, you won’t regret it.
