The GEL-KAYANO 29 MK shoe creates a stable running experience and a more responsive feel underfoot. Featuring a low-profile external heel counter, this piece comfortably cradles your foot with advanced rearfoot support. Asics also updated the midsole with FF BLAST PLUS cushioning. This helps keep the shoe lightweight while creating a more energized rebound in each step. A LITETRUSS stability feature is placed on the midsoles inside angle. Its designed to help keep your foot from rolling too far inward during your stride.

Excellent shoes — like floating on air with superb arch support. I also love the bright magenta/ purple color! The breathable fabric is light and pliable. I’m hoping it will prove to be durable for the long run… but only time will tell for this feature. Highly recommend. Note that this model appears to be slightly narrower and longer. Normally. I wear a size 10.5 women’s, but for this model a size 10 was a better fit.

Love this shoe. The style and color make it very versatile, and they are sooooo comfy. I really like how it hugs the arch and ankle. I don't even need the laces, which is a good thing because they are so snug, I can't really tie them without cutting off circulation. No worries, I use them like a slip-on. The toe box is wider than other Kayano - so wide that I had to downsize from 8 to 7.5. This is now my go to for everything except running, which is why it has 4 stars rather than 5...I can't use them for running because of the inconsistency between the fit of the toe box and rest of shoe. I don't recommend the MK for running but definitely recommend if you walk and/or stand long hours.

I enjoy the GEL-KAYANO 29 MK Asics more than the Nike, Adidas and Hoka running shoes I have. They are wide in the toes, which is what the others are lacking. They hug your heels, which makes me feel more stable. I would suggest buying a half to a full size higher than normal. They were a little snug, but I wore thick socks to break them in. I love these sneakers!

I ordered online and didn’t realize there is no tongue to the shoe. It’s all made together. So it makes it extremely hard for me to get in. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis all over my body. My hands especially can’t handle how hard it is to get my feet in. Other than that they are comfortable. I have been buying ascics for many years. The gel kanyo. Next time I will have to do research to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
At the recommendation of my foot doctor, I bought these yesterday. I wore them to work today. OMG, I can't believe how good I felt. I have an extreme pronation in my left foot. These shoes are a game changer. I had so much pain from my foot, the whole way to my hip, back & groin... UNTIL I wore these. They're simply amazing! They feel so good! I even left them on while cooking dinner after work.I love these shoes! They have so much support. My hip, back and groin didn't even hurt while wearing them.
I recently bought 4 different pairs of athletic shoes to try and figure out what fit me best- Sadly these did not make the cut (however the kayano 28's were perfect!) anyways, I dont know if it's because this style is a full-knit upper, but they did not fit right. I am usually a size 9.5-10, with the 10s usually being in athletic shoes, so size 10 is what I ordered in this style. The ankle is snug and feels supportive and comfy, but the front of the shoe is too wide and does not hug my foot at all. Also, they feel like the length is good when sitting, but as soon as I started to walk, my big toe rubbed against the end of the shoe. I find this tends to be an issue with knit shoes such as these (and APL's are similar), and it's not the greatest feeling. For reference, my feet are average in both width and arch, so I dont have anything out of the ordinary going on.
The feature comparison between models by the manufacture has always been at a deficit for marketing and website design. Understanding what features have been replaced over what features are similar and very different hasn't been great. Additionally environmentally friendly aspects are promoted which is nice that they are conscientious but they are in the way of viewing the product itself. If the shoe can’t meet basics needs or has a shelf life of 6 months then it is more an environmental harm for the landfill and burden on the wallet. This shoe is in fact garbage. I fear all Asics has become garbage and I will get into why. Additionally, Asics promotes feature rich shoes but dialing into the correct shoe with the appropriate features has always been a chore. I fear all Asics has become garbage and I will get into why. Additionally, Asics promotes feature rich shoes but dialing into the correct shoe with the appropriate features has always been a chore. I will open up word and excel documents to do a side by side comparison. I am 100% confident I could run circles around the marketing if I was able to speak with the shoes designers and web developers to lay out comparison and filter features. Ultimately after much work I found a shoe that I hoped would meet the standard of previous models. This model is pathetic. I have been an Asics user for 20 plus years. As a kid it was whatever my guardians chose. As an adult of 20+ plus years, I have bought truly specific shoes from Asics, and I have enjoyed premium features but no more. They have removed shoe models that limit versions for varying foot types and made it to where my options are limited. Trail running or proper support is off the table. Just a quality build is off the table. This shoe appears to have a great sole, but the material in the gel portion is something that never ages well in a shoe. The entire shoe is a light knit fabric with elastic. If the shoe doesn’t rip the elastic will not last a year especially around the shoe lip. The entire shoe is meant to be slipped on removing the tongue and traditional features. I have broader toes and shoes usually stretch to fit but slipping these on are a chore and the knit sock they call a shoe will no doubt deteriorate in sections stretched frequently under not just use but trying to get them on. This also means they are no longer appropriate for foot injuries as it cannot be put on gently. Instead it takes difficulty that will no doubt shorten the shoe life. My wife a long time Asics fan commented her shoes were similar to these and lasted only a couple months and that she was done with Asics. This is somewhere between planned obsolescence and apathy towards consumer need. This isn’t a real shoe. It is a joke. It is meant for the landfill and idiots hemorrhaging money for the only decent part left, the sole. Even after the labor day discounts it is still a waste of money unless you run once a month, plan to buy shoes frequently, don’t ever go outside, and like trendy garbage more than functional shoes because you are someone who values new and different over functional and practical. My expectations had so far to fall with Asics, I do not believe this shoe’s shell will handle my shifting body weight past the first couple of runs as no soul is a perfect fit and often the shell of the shoe is what keeps the imperfect shoe shape in line with varying foot types. I am so in awe at how little the website has improved over the years and how much the shoe quality has tanked. I always paid the premium for nice shoes with ASICs sale or no sale because it was a good product, but they aren’t any more. Even with the serious cuts I believe keeping this shoe is wasting money never mind the color schemes always suck. There is a model similar to my favorite remaining but I’m not sure if I should bother. It may waste more of my time and money. It is clear it won’t be supported longer anyways. It is time to find a new company. What junk.
The fit of this shoe is terrible. Its so tight around the ankle, and top of my feet that it stops circulation to my feet and I loose feeling in my foot. There is no way to loosen the fit around the ankle, or across the top of your foot. So unless you have small feet there is no way to adjust these.Do not buy these unless you have a way to test them first.I bought these online so I had no way to trying them first. I stuck with them on and off for a few weeks to see if they would "break in", but they are still so tight that I will just have to not wear them.
This is the second pair of the Gel-Kayano MK I have purchased after wearing the straight Gel-Kayano for years, and I will never go back to the original version again. The "sock" like feel of the MK is super comfortable, and the secure-but-not-tight design means I don't have to spend time adjusting and re-adjusting my laces until I get the perfect snugness like I used to. I hope they continue to make this shoe, and start offering more color options too.
I just got my shoes. And while I'm happy to have new comfy workout shoes, I'm very frustrated by the fact that the top of the left shoe in the back hurts my heel. I'm sure to get a blister. I have owned many many pairs of Asics and this is the first time I experience this. I tried buying a pair of 28s on clearance but those came defective so I went straight to 29s and paid full price. :( This isn't what I expect from full retail price Asics. Hopefully the next model doesn't have this issue. I might have to find another brand.
