The Metaspeed Sky racing shoe moves you towards a sound mind and a new personal best. It's designed to help you go faster by extending your stride length. Stride-style runners take a longer stride once they start increasing their speed, but their cadence primarily remains consistent. Thanks to an energetic midsole foam and a propulsive carbon plate, runners wearing these shoes will be able to conserve more energy while maintaining their pace at the later stages of the race.

BEWARE HEEL STRIKERS

I guess spending more actually gets you less when you are a normal every day runner. Just super disappointed in the brand and the customer service. so every day runner beware! if you intend for your heel to hit the ground, do not buy these shoes. they are not meant for you.

I was lucky to get last two pairs at the end of this model. It’s obviously better quality then the also been replaced plus models. Because it’s a balance build, it land softly, safe energy, and made me run with not much injury after run. I tried few brands but none of them gave this excellent performance.

I've only used this shoe for a few 10K races, and I must say... WOW! This is an amazing shoe! The upper is light and breathable, with an excellent lockdown, and surprisingly comfortable. The midsole is where the magic is. The FlyteFoam Blast Turbo is soft and responsive. The amount of energy return is unreal, and when you load that carbon fiber plate, the spring back is noticeable. At slower paces, the ride is like that of the Glideride. It rolls through your gait cycle effortlessly, and because the weight is so low, it turns over quickly and easily. The outsole has plenty of grip, although when I had to pass some people on the damp grass, there was a little bit of slip, though not as much as I thought. On pavement (which is what its made for) was fantastic. My only complaint was the back heel area. The rubber doesnt go far back enough for those heel strikes, especially closer to the end of the run when your body is breaking down and becoming sloppy. Thus, the exposed foam is taking a beating. Its not too bad so far, but im saving these for race days only. I'm not taking a full star off for that, so lets say its a 4.5/5. Not that any of these super shoes are good for stability, but if you overpronate, you may have some problems. Its not the most stabile, but more than other super shoes. Overall, this is a fun shoe to run in. A great training companion to go with this is the Novablast 2.

Love them!!
22 November 2022

I took a chance on the MetaSpeed Sky shoes after reading about how awesome they are. They were comfortable right out of the box, no break-in needed. I did a track workout with zero aches or pains. In fact, my splits were faster and felt easier than ever before. I use these shoes exclusively for track workouts and racing. They are possibly the most comfortable shoes I've ever run in. I loved them so much, I actually switched from Hoka to ASICS for my daily trainer (NovaBlast 3) and now I'm a total ASICS convert. I sized up a half size from what I wear in my daily trainer (9.5 to 10) and they fit perfectly. Definitely give these a try if you're looking for a very fast race/tracks shoe. Shipping was also very fast!

Made for PBs!
12 October 2021

I wanted to get a pair after my husband got those and I noted drastic improvement in his running performance. I couldn't wait to get them for myself and I wasn't disappointed. Even though I run at maximum effort ( I only use them for speedwork or races), my heart rate remains significantly lower than my usual for the repsective pace. I have already run a half marathon and shaved off 2 mins from my previous PB. I usually have hard time on the 18th km and this time I felt stronger than ever and I had energy to push through to the final with an excellent pace. This weekend I will try to smash my 5K PB with these babies. Word of caution though. I had to get two sizes larger than my usual size. Probably due to the curved sole.

Amazing shoe, ran the San Diego Marathon after only wearing them for a week prior to that and had no issues during the race. After that it has taken me a little while to adjust to the extra cushioning as I have ran in Nike Pegasus for years and those have very little foam. The shoes are very light, the material mesh airs out and you feel the air come through your feet when running, I love that! The laces are made of a cotton material instead of the high polyester material for most shoe laces are made of and that helps the knots stay in place, they don’t come unloose. I’m a 8.5 in regular shoes and ordered a 9 to have that extra space in the front for downhill running, originally wished I had ordered a 9.5 as they felt a bit tight for my personal preference, however ... MoreAmazing shoe, ran the San Diego Marathon after only wearing them for a week prior to that and had no issues during the race. They still fit a little snuggle if I wear thicker running socks so will order a 9.5 when I get the new Metaspeed Sky+ (lime green/dark blue). As far as performance, I feel a difference when running fast (6-7 minute miles). I feel the shoes make me lean forward slightly making me use gravity to propel me forward and run on my toes naturally. In short, I do feel faster but that may be due to them being so light. Overall very satisfied, Nike has lost an all time customer and 10+ year runner. This shoe won me over for ASICS. <3

Raising the bar

First, this is the most I've spent on a running shoe, so my expectations were high. I've previously run in a number of lower drop, 5 to 6-oz running shoes but my calves were starting to complain. After a few good to great experiments with other brands, the Asics have stood out on just about every front, and my legs feel great - almost rested - at the end of most of my runs, with the calf injuries a thing of the past. Speedwise these are everything people say - I'm 57 and not super fast. but these make an 8-minute mile a breeze for me and faster if I'm running on consistently level ground (a rarity with the hills I tackle). Grip is terrific and it's hard for me to don any of my other shoes. Incredibly comfortable the first time I tried them on, and they just keep getting better.

So promising but WAY TOO NARROW and tight
5 December 2021

I won a pair in a competition and was so looking forward to them, however they are way too narrow. Every podiatrist I have ever seen has confirmed that more foot problems come from shoes that are too narrow than shoes that are too wide, so it was a strange decision of ASICS to make them such a narrow tight fit. The laces were well over engineered and unnecessary given the very right fit. I would have preferred a plimsole and have removed the laces (the shoes are that tight) and can just about jog with them minus any lacing. Am currently trying to stretch the fabric to make these usable but it is rather unresponsive so far because the shoe mesh is so 'lightweight'. Am also considering cutting the fabric since big toe just doesn't fit on the side. Certainly not a general purpose shoe that you could hit the roads / dirt paths with. Oh well ASICS you tried. I would recommend it you are able to try the size and be prepared to throw all previous sizing advice out the window and just start again with this shoe. It feels fast (just standing and jumping on spot) but until I've sorted out the fabric/tight fit I'm afraid I can't use these.

Top spot in rotation

Fit - At first I was worried about the fit. Online there were many mixed reviews either saying that it is true to size or runs small. I would have given these shoes a perfect score if the rubber either protected a little bit more of that area, or if the rubber didn't sit flush with the PEBA resulting in quicker wear of the shoe.Overall - This shoe takes the top spot as my 5k, 10k racing shoe. As someone who has shorter quicker steps, I wanted a shoe that could open up my stride and they certainly more than delivered! Great job Ascis I now have a new favorite pair of running shoes!

Top tier Company and Runner Shoe
10 October 2021

I run in many top tier running shoes from many brands. Alphas, vapor’s, endorphin’s etc.. and I have to admit that the meta sky is in my top 2 favorite shoes to run in. The perfect degree of softness , comfort and weight. It just works perfect with my running mechanics. Lightweight , breathable, and the awesome color. Albeit its more of a neon orange in person as opposed to the more reddish hue in photos. But I still love the color. And one awesome thing about ASICS, is how much they support military members. I mean the discount for military is the best I’ve seen of any brand anywhere. If you’re on the fence, hop off and buy with the comfort of knowing your getting a top of the line product. Can’t recommend this shoe or this brand enough.
