I'd love to know what socks people are wearing with these shoes... I used to LOVE ASICS and swore by them, but with these - I simply can't wear them. It's a shame for how expensive they are. SUPER comfortable when you try them on, but once I walked the dog in them for 45 minutes, I had the worst blisters I've had on my heels in years, and my feet felt like they were going to burn off. The friction of the inner lining is insane - it feels like a cat's tongue. It's also impossible to put them on without pulling your sock tight over your toes and crushing them for this reason, even after undoing the laces and doing them up again. It's so strange. With every recent iteration, the Kayano has gotten worse and worse. It's so sad. :-( I ran in them for years and LOVED them until about version 25 or 26, and they have gone down hill ever since. I keep trying the new iterations hoping that ASICS will correct their design missteps (pun intended), but alas, that has not happened.Admittedly, I should have known better than to try a new pair on a long run, but nevertheless, I took these out today and they DESTROYED my feet AND my back. In 13 years of distance running, I've never once had back pain until today, nor have I ever had foot pain like I experienced today -- enough to make me walk/run the last two miles! The pressure points caused by the laces was unbearable. I almost called my husband to come pick me up ... MoreWith every recent iteration, the Kayano has gotten worse and worse. I must have stopped to tie, untie, creatively lace, etc. a dozen times and just could never get them to fit without causing horrible pressure points and terrible pain across my metatarsals and my arches. The minute I got home and took them off, my feet felt better, but two hours later my back is still aching.I don't know why ASICS continues to mess with what was such a good thing for so long, but they have utterly ruined these shoes. I'm going to have to officially call it quits on the Kayano. So sad.

I've always been an Adidas/Nike kind of girl and more recently I tried New Balance but having gotten into running and reading about Asics trainers on running forums I was intrigued to see what the difference is. I am amazed and can't believe what I've been missing all this time! These trainers are what EVERY runner needs! The gel cushioning is like nothing else - I can't believe the difference it makes - like running on clouds but more technically they absorb the impact when running! I wear them for walking too - they are so very comfortable, didn't need breaking in and no blisters at all. The shoe overall is lightweight and feels quite snug - the support around the whole foot and lower ankle is exceptional. I wear aEU 40.5 in New Balance trainers as per the sport shop/sales advisor's recommendation. These Asics Kayano are a EU 41.5 and fit perfectly for running.I will definitely be purchasing Asics in the future - go ahead and pay the extra you really won't regret it - the hype is real!

Asics trainers have been my running shoe of choice for years, so I was expecting these to be good. However, the gel insole really makes a difference and takes them up a level from the standard ones. They are comfortable as soon as they are on and when I run in them I can feel the gel insole taking the impact. I struggle with shoes in general as my ankles/heels are very narrow and my toe joint area is very wide so I often buy men's trainers to get the width which can leave the back of the shoe a bit loose. However, I am pleased to say there is plenty of room for my wide feet and my ankles were nice and secure despite me going for a size 7.5 when I would normally take a 6 (I don't like having squashed feet when running) and I didn't think they looked too ridiculously ... MoreAsics trainers have been my running shoe of choice for years, so I was expecting these to be good. Often new trainers can give me blisters (probably due to my odd shaped feet) but this was not the case with these and they certainly kept my pronating in check. And as a bonus I really like the colour.
I bought these shoes specifically because I have bunions and flat arches. My podiatrist recommended I wear trainers that had high arches and support around the ankles. I was then very pleased to see that I could search for such things on the Asics website. These shoes are a massive investment for me, the price tag is high for what I am used to paying. However, the investment is for my feet to be cushioned and supported to counteract the development of the bunions and improve the way I place me feet when walking. So I feel this price is very justified, as my walking has improved, I am not in pain and I have also done a few short runs with no adverse effect. Plus my children say thet they are 'drip' which is cool apparently! So wins all round.
I recently bought 4 different pairs of athletic shoes to try and figure out what fit me best- Sadly these did not make the cut (however the kayano 28's were perfect!) anyways, I dont know if it's because this style is a full-knit upper, but they did not fit right. I am usually a size 9.5-10, with the 10s usually being in athletic shoes, so size 10 is what I ordered in this style. The ankle is snug and feels supportive and comfy, but the front of the shoe is too wide and does not hug my foot at all. Also, they feel like the length is good when sitting, but as soon as I started to walk, my big toe rubbed against the end of the shoe. I find this tends to be an issue with knit shoes such as these (and APL's are similar), and it's not the greatest feeling. For reference, my feet are average in both width and arch, so I dont have anything out of the ordinary going on.
I bought these shoes around a month ago, and when I first tried them on, I was surprised by just how light and bouncy they were (I have previously worn Gel Kayano 26, 27, and 27s). The front end of the shoe points up so that each step kind of rolls into the next, creating a very smooth rhythm when running. In the beginning, the soles of my feet burned when I ran long distances, but when I swapped the shoe sole with the ones from my Gel Kayano 28s, that uncomfortable feeling disappeared. I think the new soles were too shiny and smooth, so my feet slid around inside the shoe, creating friction. After a month of running nearly every day (I currently have 170 miles or ~274 km on my shoes), I can confidently say these Gel Kayanos are the best shoes I have purchased so ... MoreI bought these shoes around a month ago, and when I first tried them on, I was surprised by just how light and bouncy they were (I have previously worn Gel Kayano 26, 27, and 27s). I'm a usual size 7W but decided to go for 7.5W because description says it runs small and to order half a size up.Beautiful vibrant magenta color. The online pictures show the correct shade. Fits good in length. Best part, it's like walking clouds with this pair because the gel reacts to each of my step. The gel or cushioning inside bounces back when the shoe touches the wooden floor while testing this. It's an amazing feeling. Unfortunately, the width isn't as wide as I would like it be. My small toe keeps hitting the inner side of the shoe, which could make my feet uncomfortable after a long walk.Decided to go with Brooks Glycerin 20 Running Shoe for Women - more forgiving on the width and more comfortable! ASICS have always been my go-to running shoe, and the ASICS GEL-KAYANO 29 is no exception. I have always had difficulty running, with pain in my shins and knees. After a gait analysis identified the pronation when I run, I found that having an ASICS trainer that corrected for this helped massively. The Kayano trainer provides stability, with inbuilt arch support to prevent overpronation. A lot has gone into the design of this trainer such that it provides a lot of support and comfort, without compromising on weight and design. The shoe looks great, very fashionable and not bulky at all. This added to the running experience, the shoe is incredibly light. I was really surprised that a shoe that gives this much support could feel so light. There is gel technology cushioning to provide shock absorption, and the overall design is meant to improve rebound and foot strike impact. There is also reflective detailing on the trainer, which is ideal as we head into the darker evenings.
Really good strong side support from the structure of the chunky sole. I did scuff the pavement a few times on a run due to height of the shoe sole but tired legs may have contributed. The insole is more padded than my other Asics, it is a comfortable and supportive insole. Padding around the ankle is soft and supportive. Well made and a real comfortable shoe to wear.Sadly I need a wider shoe for running. It is the ball of my foot on the side of my big toe landing just over the edge of the supportive chunky sole.
