Motherboard from a well-known brand. The manufacturer develops the most budget solutions and sometimes they are extremely productive and compete well with the top models. But the way the cooling of the power circuits is implemented is extremely sad.

I really liked the ASRock board so when the manufacturer entirely replaced that motherboard in the RMA I just sold it on [censored competitor auction site] (I still use the ASRock for intel). When my AMD linux machine started (or rather, continued) having motherboard problems I chose ASRock again.

I bought this for use with a Ryzen 3950X, which its handling well. I went with X570 since the power delivery for a high end consumer chip might throttle back on the B550 motherboards, especially if you plan to overclock. Either way, I wanted something more reliable and able to hand higher RAM speeds. I like this line from ASRock, also having owned the Z370 PRO4 motherboard on the Intel side. The right combination of high speed ports, sensible layout, and easy install. Some reviews mention the BIOS is confusing but it was easy enough to enable the RAM's XMP profile and set up boot order.

Good board, but I had some issues.
26 November 2019

When I got the new board and set everything up. the first thing I did was update the BIOS. I then installed Linux on the system with no problems. Installing Windows, however, was no easy matter. System would not install Windows from USB. It kept asking for a "media driver" that does not exist. All I had was the original Windows10 DVD, and that installed, but only from a DVD and was extremely unstable. The system would not stay booted long enough to complete Windows update. I didn't have any dual layer DVD's laying around to burn the latest version of Windows downloaded from MS. Thinking the problem may be video driver related, I tried installing my old graphics card, but the system would not boot unless a HDMI or DP cable was plugged into the motherboard. I didn't have any dual layer DVD's laying around to burn the latest version of Windows downloaded from MS. Thinking the problem may be video driver related, I tried installing my old graphics card, but the system would not boot unless a HDMI or DP cable was plugged into the motherboard. An email from Asrock suggested clearing the CMOS and reinstalling the latest BIOS. This obviously did not work. Finally, I downgraded the BIOS to 1.77. This allowed me to boot with the discreet graphics card and enable CSM. The latest Windows installed from USB and is now stable. After running through all the updates and driver installations, I cleared the CMOS and updated to the latest BIOS (2.00), the system would not boot with the discreet graphics card. No big deal as the video from the Ryzen chip is actually better than my old card anyway. Once I pulled the card and plugged video back into the board, the system boots and runs great. However, there is still no CSM option in the BIOS (just says "CSM disabled" and can't be changed) and trying to change the color scheme for the light show does nothing from within the BIOS. The only way I could change it is to run the Windows software. Now that everything is finally set up, the system is running great, but I won't say there were not issues that took me about a week to resolve.

Good board, terrible software
19 August 2019

The board is near perfect, but anything software or UI related is terrible. Working around in the BIOS is confusing and limited compared to other motherboards. But, that is nothing as bad as the software ASRock provides. The fan tuning software doesn't work, so it must be done in BIOS (why even offer that ASRock?). But, worse than that is the RGB app. It's straight up broken, half the time it will nearly crash Windows and the other half it won't be able to detect any connected hardware. It's much easier to download ASUS Aura Sync, and if you're using the stock Ryzen cooler then CoolerMaster's Wraith Prism app. All in all, software aside since there are solutions available; the actual board hardware is really good and is one of the best lower cost side X570 boards ... MoreThe board is near perfect, but anything software or UI related is terrible. Great Board!! paired with Ryzen 5 3600
3 August 2019

This review for ASRock rebate program. love the board. it has a good amount of sata ports for all of my hard drive needs. i had a m2 sata ssd but first installed it in the m2 slot 1 with the heatsink piece. it didnt recognize, and i was so confused. luckily after some research and looking at the manual, that slot 1 is for PCIE m2's . so there was another slot 2 reserved for the m2 sata drive. (just mentioning in case anybody else runs into this issue). other than that, everything else is great. recognized my ryzen 5 3600 no issues. 3200MHZ ram 16gb. would definitely recommend

Just what I was looking for
2 September 2019

Building a new Ryzen system, I wanted an X570 chipset motherboard so it had support for the 3600 right out of the box. Didn't want flashy LEDs and not interested in huge overclocks, this motherboard fit the bill perfectly. It's a nice design that easily went into my case and they provide good documentation with the board. Had a minor issue getting the front panel audio to work but just had to change the BIOS to 'AC97' for front panel audio to match my case and worked no problem. Looking for a lower cost X570 motherboard from a name brand, this is a solid choice. This review is for the ASRock review rebate program.

Never got it to work (Ryzen 9 3900X)
29 April 2020

I've been assembling machines for 15 years and I know my way around troubleshooting, overclocking, etc. I only got this board to reliably boot four times in six hours of attempts. No matter what I did, it failed to reliably recognize the storage devices; sometimes it would recognize the NVMe, sometimes the SATA drive, and sometimes both. Sometimes the BIOS reported 0GB of RAM. Also, the times it did boot were incredibly slow. Sometimes it would hang 45 seconds on the ASRock logo before starting the OS. Also, loaded XMP profiles were not used. Returned.

Thanks ASRock for some good value X570 options
7 August 2019

ok, I see that reviews out there on ASRock boards in general are somewhat mixed. I will just say that this is my 3rd ASRock board, my 2 prior ASRock boards each lasted me about 5years before decommissioning them (was nothing wrong with them, just upgraded), so, I had no qualms about going with ASRock again for my latest build. In my opinion ASRock presents some really great value options, including this X570 PRO4. Sure, there are likely better boards out there for going all-out-overclocking on the faster CPUs, maxing other settings, etc, and of course folks are welcome to pay extra for that. For someone like me, who just doesn't get that much into tweaking these days, I really appreciate ASRock's lower-priced offerings that really don't sacrifice much at all in the ... Moreok, I see that reviews out there on ASRock boards in general are somewhat mixed. Very good
19 January 2020

I usually go with Asus to upgrade motherboards, but the ASRock looked impressive. Upgraded one system with AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, 16GB Ballistix 3200, Linux Mint 19.3 using 5.0.0-32 kernel. With an SSD boots up very fast. No issues at all. The other system upgraded with AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB Ballistix 3200, Windows 7. With a little work and X470 USB drivers the system runs perfect. The system response is good but not as fast as Linux. Will probably use Linux with WINE. Will consider WIN 10. Would definitely recommend.
