Although I was skeptical to begin with about playing this and how different it would be to Odyssey, I admit after a reasonable amount of play time I've come to appreciate certain things about the game. These for me personally are: The Stunning Visuals - They are very intone with the viking theme and feel of the game and are just generally amazing. In some ways they even sort of Out do Odyssey, partly because they look a bit more polished, and partly because they have a more 'natural' feel to them. Viking Culture - this aspect in my opinion is done more or less flawlessly, from the look of the characters down to the very small, but entertaining dialogue moments while sailing to raid locations. It very much feels like you're playing an episode of Vikings, and I think that definitely says something. I also love how you can use the some of the resources you raid to build up your own settlement, which adds to the authentic viking experience. The Combat - Although not as varied and stylized as Odyssey, it still manages to be fun and engaging thanks to it's gritty realism (I swear every time I see a head go flying I have moment of sheer adulterated bliss). The Length - I can already tell this is going to be a much shorter game, and for someone who juggles demanding full-time work with a two year old, that is indeed a Godsend. 170+ hours is waaay to long to spend on one game that doesn't hold up the balance with story and characters (Odyssey) All in all, if you've been curious about giving this a try, I say go for it! P.S. If you do decide to go for the extra stuff (which you will, trust me), go for the mysteries, as there is a great variety of things to do and most of them are reasonably short and sweet 10/10

It took me awhile to be able to play Valhalla because my PS4 broke not long before the PS5 release so I waited…but then I waited and waited and waited til supply chain allowed me to snag one finally. Valhalla is one of my favorite AC series games. I loved Origins, Odyssey had its good and bad, and I have been playing the series since the very beginning. At first it took me awhile to warm up to the changes in gameplay with the last few releases, but I’ve come to enjoy them the most. Valhalla is beautiful, even if it’s not the most stunning technically. The world is immersive, the quests enjoyable, the gameplay has always been smooth on the PS5 for me.

If you are looking for a game with a structured story line that allows you to play the part of a clear protagonist then look past AC (Assassins Creed) Valhalla as you will not find that here. If you like the idea of your primary requirement for progression being to raid, kill and pillage innocent villages and monasteries and burn down the cottages of suffering villagers then by all means this is the game for you! In addition you also get the choice to have an affair with the wife of your best friend and adopted brother. Super! That being said, I liked the story of both WAY better then Valhalla. Despite my recent negative experiences, after seeing awesome commercials and reading rave reviews I had a renewed hope for the series and decided to get the game. After 50 hours playing the game waiting for things to make sense, provide a sense of purpose and for the story-line to evolve into one where the main character Eivor becomes a good guy I came to the realization that was never going to happen and here I am writing this review. The final straw for me was when a Viking comrade (Ivarr) tricks you (Eivor) into attacking an opposing king (After a Peace deal was made) by framing that opposing king for the murder of a mutual friend . Ok, whatever, I can deal with that you gotta come up with creative reasons to fight big battles... After all, its just a game. The part that absolutely disgusted me is after the battle you are forced to standby while Ivarr tortures the King (who had previously bested Ivarr in a battle and let Ivarr go instead of killing him). No matter what you decide for in game choices (1 - Let the king go, 2 - Let him die from his wounds, 3 - Ok Ivarr do w/e it is you want to do to the king) the game ends up with you watching Ivarr torture a guy for something he didn't do. Furthermore, Ivarr is the one who framed the king and actually killed the mutual friend. If your like me your wondering what the point of in game choices are if they don't effect the outcome. Clearly the choices are superficial. That's lame... Final note - If you may find yourself offended by consistent smears, comments and attacks on the christian faith throughout this game I would advise you to avoid AC Valhalla. Thank you UBISoft for taking a fantastic series that began with Altaïr and Ezio dragging it through the mud while simultaneously riding its coat tails. The quality Story, Cinematic Cut Scenes, Fighting Style, Stealth requirement and Character/Plot development I came to know and love in the AC series seen in Altaïr and Ezio's time is gone and clearly it is not coming back.

Awesomely immersive game. If you liked the open world style of Origins or Odyssey you'll love Valhalla. I thought I would you be using my long ship more than my horse but I've found both needed in equal measure. Only downside I've found is that you can't sell unused/unwanted armor for materials nor is there any kind of storage option for them. Romance options are slightly more limited than in Odyssey but it makes up for it in that you can have relationships. There's loads of customization options too - not only for your character, but for your settlement where you can buy decorations really add to the life of your settlement. Raids are loads of fun and I believe there's well over the estimated 60-90 hours of gameplay available here.Highly recommend to any open world Assassin Creed fans! There are still some issues needing to be fixed with things like objects clipping and grass vanishing but these will likely be addressed in a later update.
I am a longtime fan of the assassin's creed series. I remember getting my brother to buy me the first one back in 2007. I have not played all of them but I've loved every single one I played. My list of these games includes: AC1, AC2, AC Brotherhood, AC3, AC IV Black Flag, AC Rogue, AC Unity, AC Origins, and this being the latest addition to my list. Never got the chance to play Odyssey unfortunately. The mechanics began to change in later Assassin's creeds beginning with Origins. A bit different but didn't take much to get used to, actually felt like it added a bit more challenge. A bit different but didn't take much to get used to, actually felt like it added a bit more challenge. Valhalla brings you to the age of the Vikings, one of the most violent cultures ever to be known in history. We see many parts of Norway as well as England. In Norway you see the Vikings way of life from their acts of pillaging to their customs and traditions. In England parts you start to see the very real, at that time in history, power struggle between the Danes(Vikings) and the Saxons(British). You will meet the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok which if you see the show or know the history then you'll know he is the very first Viking that set out for England and settled there. The world is massive and there are many arcs pertaining to the different arcs of England and Norway that you will explore. There is even a little treat Arc dealing with the Era of the Gods, won't say more than that. This is not a game you will beat in one day. If you play only a few hours a day it's well worth the money. Although, like myself, if it's hard to put down the controller when playing an AC game then you may be able to beat it in less than a week :D. Seriously though its a good game. Some negatives is that there are some bugs and glitches but I experienced nothing that prevented me from playing the game further and I'm sure any bugs will get patched as the game is fairly new. Again I really enjoyed this game and look forward to see what they have in store for the next one.
Assassin's Creed (2007) is fantastic, the real sense of detail, mood and tone is well presented and constructed in this fabulous nostalgic and revolutionary video game.As the first instalment in the never-ending Assassin's Creed Video Game Series, Assassin's Creed (2007) is a well executed introduction into it's world and atmosphere. The Gameplay is beyond anything and any other game in 2007, the combat is strong, well built and plays out smoothly without any bugs or issues. The parkour when running and jumping from rooftop to rooftop is really good and revolutionary for a game made in 2007. The parkour is swift and feels so smooth and relaxed when playing. The game's controls aren't that good and could do with some improvement and sharpening up. The Characters you meet in all the cities and places you come across are phenomenal and breath taking, real accuracy and care has been taken to ensure the best possible experience is imminent in the game. Assassin's Creed's Protagonist Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad is a gentle and focused main character and is perfect for this game. The game's music and soundtrack is decent and really emphasises on the detail and tone this game has set and achieved. Assassin's Creed is full of beaming features and incredible aspects and just seems to be a clearly superb game to play no matter what. Most of the missions are very repetitive which is a problem and there isn't much to do at all when the game and story is finished. The Graphics on the other hand are incredible and push your computer to the limits, it's no lie, as the first ever entry to the Assassin's Creed Series, this game has set the best possible foundation for it to grow and develop and fully flourish.Assassin's Creed (2007) might have it's problems but will honestly go down as Top 50 Best Games of all time without a doubt. The Environment, Characters, Gameplay, almost everything about this game shines bright and makes it a pure success in it's year, 2007, and still now. You need to play this game, never mind it's series.
I’ve played every Assassins Creed since Brotherhood. It‘s fantastic how the series continues to evolve. Valhalla is an evolution from the previous two titles with its RPG-lite mechanics yet its bigger and in fresher more densely packed environments. Why I was initially saddened to leave the beautiful snow capped mountains of Norway I was soon pleasantly surprised with the very vibrant almost Witcher-esque fantasy environment of the 9th century British Isles. The fog, lighting and shading so beautiful I thought it had ray tracing. While some of the combat and actual task can get a little bit repetitive they do a good job of changing it up as each region has its own storyline and different objectives. It's a really nice game as it's very beautiful and well made. However, 30min into the game i was bored. After 2 hrs of playing it I ended up fully deleting the saved file from my PS5 and haven't touched the game since then. If you have the patience and time to get through the game and are into very cinematic games, then this will be a good purchase. However, my biggest gripe with it is that Activision forces you to make an account in order to continue the game. Unless you have the disc and disconnect your PS5 from the internet you will not be able to play the game. This seems to be a new trend with game companies in order for them to get your email and be able to shove their marketing in your face while selling you online exclusive content and pay to win skins. Overall i feel the game wasn't worth my money and I got it on discount.
Started off great. I loved the serious tone and a more “realistic” approach to the world along with less fantastical combat. After soaking hours and hours into this one it slowly overstayed it’s welcome. For about 75% of the game I restricted myself to only traveling on horseback, no fast travel. You know soak in the environment, be one with nature haha but after a while it just became too tedious. Go to alliance map, ride to quest marker, go back to camp. You do this the entire length of the game and it just lost its luster with me. The part towards the end “snowy mountain cave” things got so ridiculous that I was constantly rolling my eyes. Oh, not only that I had to look up whether or not the last quest I finished was in fact the end of the game. When someone has to look up whether you’ve beat the game isn’t a good way to end your game. No credits or nothing, the game just doesn’t have any form of finality to it therefore it makes you feel like why the heck did I even bother playing this.
If you happen to have an LG Oled tv and put your PS5 on quality mode, the visuals you will witness from this game is AMAZING. From being in the snowy mountains of Norway to the beautiful autumn fields of England, Valhalla gets a S+ in quality. You can literally climb anything anywhere on here, really is almost no limit. I also loved the DLCs they added to the game to expand upon, like the best Vikings based game ever to be made imo. I’ve never seen nobody else pull off what they did with this game. 90% from the start all I did was venture first before even doing missions. I was even cool to go to Vinland, wish they made a Thorfinn character skin lol
