I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy the viking storyline however the gameplay, storyline, graphics, and the soundtrack absolutely won me over. Plays very similar to Origins and Odyssey, which I love, but the loot system has been tightened up slightly, which isnt a bad thing for those who were fans of the earlier AC games. There is so much to do in this game too. Recommend.

I bought this game last week, as I was curious to actually play a Assassin creed game for this is my first time playing one of the games, all the features in this game were incredible, with all the features being good there was only one bad thing the Viking ages is a simulation and your actually a girl in the future. But I have to say above all it’s a fantastic game and story line. A must buy for ac and historic lovers/gamers

Soo much going on. Long game. Combat gets boring very quickly. And the rinse and repeat nature of the missions become very tedious. It got boring pretty quickly and there is no pay-off for grinding away as there is not much loot or gear to be had.

It's very pretty, although the Norway setting is all one note and just generic snow everywhere. It could have been *anywhere*. They missed a trick not showing it in summer when there are amazing displays of wildflowers and colours. Disappointed to find the Nordic portion is only the baby area, and after that it's all over in England which manages to be in summer time despite it only being a 6 week journey between the two. I didn't like the storyline particularly and felt no attachment to any of the characters. The female voice actor does a weird Batman voice that's really annoying, and the male actor is boring. Lots of getting hung up on invisible walls, and not standing firm on the ground. NPC's not making sounds when they should (vocalisations clearly missing) and ... Soooooo, disappointing all round really.
I got this game 3 days ago and the amount of bugs is incredible. Graphics don’t feel better than Skyrim or Horizon, but everything is laggy. The climbing controls are SO wrong that you’re gonna have a terrible time trying to follow a trail, stuck in front of a tiny step or trying to get down a crate. Yes I got stuck on a 50cm crate next to a wall and had to close the application. Odin’s sight or whatever is called is really useless compared to Zelda botw, Horizon or any game you can think of. Oh and the battle system is confusing and boring because of the camera and the hitbox. Your axe will just go through enemies but they’ll take no damage, or you will miss 80% when trying to break a stick wall to get inside the house (I tried many times before knowing that and ... Your axe will just go through enemies but they’ll take no damage, or you will miss 80% when trying to break a stick wall to get inside the house (I tried many times before knowing that and then I had to google it to realize it was the same I tried but I was failing because of the hitbox). Same happens with the mining spots. And to finalize this humble review, the quests. Oh god, they’re terrible, the few until now about senseless and unnecessary “adult” content. Oh and the NPC won’t even move. I was supposed to go inside a house to activate a quest but I accidentally activated it from the backyard so I was teleported inside and didn’t even have to to hide or fight the guards. The sound glitches as well. Please don’t get it.
It is still a good game. The map is really well put together and the English country side is one of the best open world maps ive seen. The story is good and the structure is different and really good. That is where the good things end however. While the combat has some cool moves and really good ideas, it is a terrible mess. It has really bad lag, its unresponsive, lacks innovation of any kind, is completely generic and feels like it is dated by 20 years. They clearly didn’t put as much attention into the physics as they did the world design and story, which is foolish because it lets the whole game down.
My initial purchase was to be Cyberpunk 2077, but reviews showed it performed very poorly on the PS4 - so this was my next choice. Being a fan of the Vikings TV show, it seemed like a logical choice. I thoroughly enjoy open world games and this is a cracker. Graphics and gameplay are both impressive, and the storyline is detailed. This was also my first foray into the world of Assassin's Creed, save I have been suitably impressed.
This game is not only a great viking game but also tries to be Assassin's Creed unlike AC Odyssey. The graphics are stunning, there are fun stealth sequences, the storyline and characters are interesting, the open world is filled with things to do. The combat is fun and the enemies are not damage sponges, and you cannot loot the same type of weapon or armour twice, so all gear is unique. There might be a bit too much fantasy and the Asgard sequences are sometimes repetitive, however the game overall is great fun!. I would buy it if I were you.
Okay so after 2 weeks with this game, it's nothing short of exhausting & playing it feels like a chore. -The combat system feels clunky & not responsive. +The open world is gorgeous. -The narrative, well this is subjective but there's no denying that the AC franchise is circling the drain at this point. The narrative is silly. If you've played Origins & Odyssey, then this will be no surprise to you.
Superb game. Excellent gameplay, great open world with TONS of incredible detail. Loads a little slow on the PS4 because it's essentially a PS5 game, but with the digital upgrade, that will be solved for me soon :)
