A wonderful and highly polished 3D Collectathon Platformer in comparison to Nintendo's Platformer games as well as a nostalgic tribute to 30 years of PlayStation history+ves: From the charming protagonist with a lot of personality and emotions to the music composed by Kenneth C M Young (among others as well whose names I forgot as of this writing). Also, the art direction is very beautiful and endearing to look and interact as well as the variety of level design in the Astro Bot universe that I can't decide which one is my most favourite-ves: Your milage may vary as the game length is short (around 15-30 hours if you want to do 100% and you're a casual gamer like me) and I wish there were more variety of enemies, but those are minor nitpicks. Astro Bot is one of the most genuinely fun games Playstation has ever published. The game's use of the DualSense haptic system is fantastic, and it works very well with headphones if you decide to use them or a speaker/soundbar system. The replayability factor for this game is there, as there are lots of Easter Eggs and hidden worlds to discover. The characters are fun for all ages - very much a modern Mario-type game for the PS. Just because it's a cute and fun game, don't be fooled. There are a lot of challenging levels and bosses that'll keep you coming back for more. The pricepoint is excellent as well!

As a 3D platformer fanatic, I was excited for this game to release, especially after completing Astro's Playroom. This game did not disappoint. The mechanics are fantastic and a blast to use. The variation in gameplay is perfectly executed, and never overstay their welcome like many other platformers. The Visuals and Art Style are jaw-dropping and the buttery smooth framerate never dropped on my 100% playthrough. The music is fitting for the game. If you are a longtime Playstation player, this game is packed with hundreds of awesome throwbacks which I won't spoil. Some really niche references that only longtime Playstation fans would get. 3d Platformers are my favourite genre of gaming and, other than the original PS1 Spyro Trilogy, this has honestly become my ... MoreAs a 3D platformer fanatic, I was excited for this game to release, especially after completing Astro's Playroom. Fantastic game

What a brilliant game Astro Bot is. If you enjoyed Astro's Playroom (pre-installed on all PS5s) then you'll know roughly what to expect. It's as equally infuriating as it is enjoyable! The attention to detail in every aspect of the gameplay is superb. If you're an avid PlayStation gamer then you'll love the constant references to older games and systems. The difficulty levels are spot on. It starts relatively easy, guiding you through the controls, and then progressively gets harder. If you're into stunningly designed platform games then you'll love this. Also, John Lewis' delivery was as good as always. It arrived next day as promised. Great service.

Good Game But Could Have Just Been A DLC.
2 October 2024

Overall pretty much Astro Playroom 2.0. While a fun game it's pretty much just what Astro's Playroom was which was a commercial game to promote what the PS5 controller with its haptic feedback could do. The gameplay is fun and the additional added bots with their various game avatar skins is a nice touch. Is the game worth $60? Not really as overall it just feels like and extended addition to the Astro Playroom game with some added bonus content. Wait until Black Friday when the game goes on sale if you can get it for $40 great or maybe even $50 but $60 just seems a little steep for a game that just amounted to a physical DLC add-on content.

I am Astro Bot!
7 September 2024

As a huge fan of platformers i can say with confidence that this goes above and beyond. As a huge Mario Galaxy fan this scratches the itch I have been having for a while. From the power-ups that make me feel invincible and enjoy button mashing, to the unique levels that are vibrant and eye catching. With more than 300 bots and items to collect the game rewards you for exploring levels and doesn’t make it feel overwhelming. There’s so much more to the game that makes it amazing but i wont spoil it in my review. Especially in the levels where you get to use some of the abilities of your favorite PlayStation stars! I only wish that game is longer but other than that amazing job Team Asobi! I hope to see this game at the game awards this year!

Loving it
7 September 2024

I wasn't really sure if I needed a full Astro Bot game, or maybe not right at release day. But I ended up getting this and I'm glad I did. I just played about 4 hours straight which is extremely rare for me these days, I seem to be losing interest in gaming and then the games I do try usually don't keep my interest. They did a great job with this. I am tired of the super difficult trend in gaming, this is a great game to relax with. Still some challenge finding everything to 100% the levels, and I am starting to encounter some mini/secret levels that take a handful of tries, but it is fun the entire time. The music is incredible. The different worlds and themes so far have been great. My expectations for this were totally too low. Can't wait to play more.

Astrobot looks, plays, and overall runs very similar to the previous game Astrobot's Playroom (the free demo on PS5). If you liked the previous game, you would like this one. Graphically they look the same, performance is very smooth, and the game makes use of the DualSense controller haptics. The game adds some new abilities which change up the gameplay however they can be pretty similar. To nitpick the game, a couple of the new abilities do the same rocket propelled movement albeit one makes you go up and the other propels you forward. There isn't much variety, and you'll have one of them per level if you have one at all. The character move set is the same as before and a bit limited. You get the same laser double jump and the same swing attack. The challenge levels have a higher spike of difficulty. They don't have any checkpoints, and you must restart from the beginning any time you die. The game has a lot of levels, but about halfway through it starts to get repetitive due to the easier nature of the game and the small amount of abilities.

PlayStation finally finds its own Super Mario
27 September 2024

Forget the PlayStation platformer mascots of PS past. Crash, Spyro, Jak and even Sly Cooper himself have got nothing on Astro Bot. This game has Super Mario levels of polished and creative design that is all so incredibly fun to play. The controls are super tight and responsive while making some very creative use of the DualSense controller’s haptics and adaptive triggers. This can best be felt when using the powerup weapons, blasting off on the controller ship or in any of the excellent boss fights. The entire game is loaded with whimsical charm. The music is all super catchy and charming like the score found in any great Sonic or Mario game. Shame Square-Enix couldn’t play ball with their characters. The environments are super colorful and nicely varied from spooky old haunted ruins to snowy mountain tops. This is really the closest thing PlayStation has ever had to a “Mario” game. It oozes with the same love and care that Nintendo puts into the 3D main Mario games. I had a blast playing this one with my kids. It really reminded me of playing Mario 64 with my family back in the day. It’s actually that good. Do yourself a favor and play Astro Bot!

Super cute
13 September 2024

Great platformer. If you like ratchet & clank or Mario or little big planet, you will love this game. It takes the best of all of this genre and mashes it together into a visual and auditory treat. It CAN get a little repetitive and the plot line is quite thin, hence the 4 stars. But for what it is it was a blast. I have collected 298 of the 300 bots and ALL the puzzle pieces. Only have a few trophies left to complete. Definitely worth picking up. If you're not super big into platformers I would maybe wait til it becomes a ps plus free game or deeply discounted. It's not going to please those looking for a deep story like final fantasy or anything like that.
