Price exceptional under $250.00. Delivery excellent. Keyboard has some French characters, but in setup, the only option ia english. I was also supprised that the keyboard has no delete key, just backspace. This is the only model with a 15.6 inch display at this price. Most other chromebooks are 10-12inch displays. There is no hard drive in a Chromebook. This model has 64 Gig memory. Others have only 32 Gig. The operating system is google OS. Theerior camera display is acceptable, but does not compare to higher priced computers. I use this Chromebbok for Internet browsing, email, watching movies, etc. It only runs web applications. More like a smart phone using apps. I tried to connect an exterior camera, which I also have program on my computer, but there was no ... MorePrice exceptional under $250.00. Delivery excellent. Bought this Chromebook at my local Target store. Paid $249 tax and my initial reaction is my device is primo compared to every other budget Chromebook i've considered. Met all my criteria at a price point well below what I anticipated to pay for these specs: -A 15.6" screen with at least 1920 x 1080 resolution...check! -Minimum 64GB of memory / 4GB of ram...check! -Priced at $300 or less...check! -Brand I know has consistent quality from it's lower priced products to it's top of the line models (Asus)...check! As always, and as a consumer, i'd love a HD screen on par with a Pixel Book...but for $249 let's be realistic. The "real" aluminum lid is a nice touch and even the plastic frame supporting it feels strong...minimal flex. The keyboard feels light and "crisp". ... MoreBought this Chromebook at my local Target store. The keyboard isn't back lit, but, again, let's be realistic...it only costs $249. The touch pad functions as should and does it smoothly...no complaints here either. Software performance is snappy, especially compared to any of my Windows laptops. I know I won't be loading Photoshop and the like on here, but for an everyday internet consumption device it does a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to make this purchase again.

I purchased this for the sole purpose of school. I had to install Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. However, they don't open up. I ended up having to use the web browser of Microsoft word, which has made it harder to multitask. The web version of Microsoft can sometimes crash or run very slowly. While using this laptop, I was unable to copy and paste a large amount without things freezing. However, if you are using a different type of writing app, then the laptop works fine. Sadly, the school I go to didn't allow Chromebooks to be used during exams due to incompatibility. Watching videos, and looking at pictures are okay (don't expect 4K quality). This laptop is not suitable for busybody workers or students who need to meet deadlines. It's more of a laptop you would gift a relative in elementary school, an elderly relative who would like to video chat or a backup laptop. Also, I did not know this until now, but some apps will appear as they would if you were using a phone.

Decided on less bells and whistles for my Chromebook as I'm now retired and don't need all the software. Came from fully loaded Windows 10 Lenovo with CD drive, touchscreen etc. to some of the basics. I'm still trying to locate some files that are downloaded but it's getting easier. Good/bad in that there are no icons on desktop - I tend to clutter the desktop so it's probably better that I don't have it. I'm with other reviewers complaint that the Shelf icons are too big. Hopefully they will give option to minimize. I had a problem two days ago getting the connection to charge the battery. Not sure if that's a going concern., if so I'll have to contact customer service. Using it every day now and so far so good. Much lighter to pick up with one hand than the other laptop which is nice. Would recommend to others - the 'less is more' is good for me. Hardly ever used the cd drive other than itunes copying. I hope it lasts a few years - got it on sale so I'm happy so far. Will not give 5 stars as it's still only been a couple of months - could possibly review again after one year.
I read some online reviews of this laptop in addition to the reviews on here; based on those, I was expecting to be satisfied, but underwhelmed. Not the case at all! The keyboard is excellent, the computer feels like quality and is very sturdy-feeling. Some people have complained about the track pad "ratting", but honestly the way it's designed feels like an intention (and pleasant) tactile touch rather than poor design. That's just me. It feels like it's designed to be easy to tap with a finger rather than clicked with a firm press (though of course both work fine). The hinges of the screen are just the right amount of tight. I love the matte of the screen itself, and it goes as bright as I need a screen to go. I do tend to use computers indoors, but I'm sure it ... MoreI read some online reviews of this laptop in addition to the reviews on here; based on those, I was expecting to be satisfied, but underwhelmed. I love the matte of the screen itself, and it goes as bright as I need a screen to go. I do tend to use computers indoors, but I'm sure it could handle daylight, especially with the anti-glare. As far as resolution, I really don't know what folks claiming it's grainy are talking about. It doesn't seem grainy to me at all, nor does it make my head hurt. HD videos look HD on this machine. Battery is fantastic. I get about 8 hours or so it seems while using the internet and typing and occasional videos. I still haven't broken the battery in totally though, so it may get even better as it stabilizes. This computer runs quite quickly, despite having a pretty low-end processor. You probably could not run any games on this smoothly, but if you stick to videos and browsing and don't have a bajillion tabs open, it should keep up with whatever you are doing just fine. Very, very happy! I don't think anyone should hesitate on this one.
BOUGHT IT APRIL 26, 2024, FOR MY 14 year old Grandson. NOW IT WANT POWER ON! My store receipt expired, one year warranty I was told is expired it was explained to why. I had to get contact with ASUS, had to send serial#\ receipt for the item they will get back and n contact me in 24-48 hours letting me know what they going to do. It's a lot when u think u have a year warranty but find the warranty starts when the item reach the store I didn't know that! So, my item warranty was 11/22 and expired 11/23, and I bought it 04/24! So, I didn't have a one year warranty! So, I called Target Corporate Office, explain the problem I was told I had to get in contact with the manufacturer!
Good Points: It look nice and is functional. OK for children or occasional users.Improvement Points: There are so many apps you can't get on chromebook. It's not worth paying the extra just for the HD screen - you won't notice the difference from a standard screen. When using Google classroom, it is not easy to get different apps to 'talk' to each other, so uploading work to send to school is not the easiest of things to do. For example, you'll need to open a document in Google Classroom and add to it within that app. If you use word and then try to upload it into Google classroom it's not as straightforward as it ought to be. Just not particularly user friendly. I'd recommend getting a MAC or Microsoft machine instead.
Bought for college student. Supper laggy right out of the box, very disappointed. Contacted Target and could do nothing even though it was bought 4 weeks prior (and only used for a week). Did tons of tweaking to turn off processes, etc. to no avail. Very slow which is the opposite of what chromebook users want. Chromebooks in this day should not be this bad, seriously it is slow and laggy. Have had many chromebooks, some that cost way less, perform waaay better. Also, assumed Asus would be top notch....not the case. Now will have to work through them to see if they can back a faulty product. Look elsewhere for a solid chromebook.
Item worked great for 10 months, then mouse pad stopped working. Target service connected me to ASUS tech support and they tried to trouble shoot the problem. A wireless mouse also will not work. I can send it to them for repair, but there will be a charge that is determined after the $80 diagnostic fee. Not worth it for this price point. Will not be buying ASUS again.
