Beast of a graphics card!

This card is a beast. I started with a 4070 Super and returned and exchanged if for this. Boy am I glad I did. It handles anything i throw at it. It has two operating modes, Performance and quiet. Even in performance mode it runs cool and quiet. Does 4k Gaming in Microsoft flight Simulator easily. 4k Video editing which I have not tried yet, should be a breeze. This card is well worth the price. Get this graphics card you won't be sorry. Just make sure you have the case to fit it, it's huge. It also requires an 850W power supply. Doesn't have a lot of pretty RGB colors but well worth the investment.

Big but effective

Unboxing this graphics card was definitely surprising - coming from a 3080 that I thought was massive, this card is even bigger. However the ironic thing is that the card itself is actually smaller - the heatsink is extremely large. It fits in my Fractal Torrent case as a "snug fit" (and it's a fairly large case) with a 420mm AIO in front, and not sure if it would fit in any smaller cases. So far it has performed without a hitch - running fairly quiet and cool. One small note is that if you do want to disable the LEDs, you can do so by unplugging it from the header - on the bottom of the card near the PCIe connector, you will see two black plugs. The LED is the smaller of the two. *Doing so may void your warranty*.

Without it, the power cable adds another three inches to the width of a card. I have the LIAM LI EVO Dynamic, which is a very wide case, and I can no longer use the side panel. So, I'm waiting for an angle adapter to arrive. When I purchased, I never thought of the width of the card, only the length, which it easily fits lengthwise.Very happy with the purchase, and if you can get these at MSRP, then I'm happy with the move from the 4070 to 4080 ... MoreAbsolute beast of a card. It Does Matter Which GPU Brand You Choose!

After more than four years with my Asus Cerberus 1070 Ti, I felt like it was time for an upgrade. I settled on the 4080 Super, which offered very good value with 2nd best cousumer gpu performance (the 1st is obviously 4090 which would have been too much for me). Everything from rendering to gaming feels smoother, faster, and more efficient. The card definitely meets and exceeds expectations.

Only consider if 4k is goal.
3 August 2024

This graphics card sits in a tough spot between the 4070ti super and 4090. I already own a 4090 for my bedroom setup which I paired with my Samsung s89c 4k 144hz tv and my 27inch Msi Mag 1440p 360hz monitor. The 4080 was specifically a cost saving upgrade for my living room HTPC. Was running an Msi 3080ti that kept overheating in my thermaltake tower 300 case. (This GPU runs way cooler) My honest thoughts? If you want to push 4k ray tracing with as much frames as possible without dropping $1800 this gpu is for you. You won’t notice the difference without a frame counter on most games however make no mistake the 4090 is by far the superior card for native 4k. Not running 4k? The 4070ti super 16gig by far is the obvious choice. Save the money and upgrade other components.

Robust GPU for the price point
23 June 2024

So you're considering upgrading your GPU. There's plenty of options around, but gosh darn, those prices are steep! Is a modern GPU really worth the expense?Well, it depends...If you're the average computer user and like to watch movies or do some social media posting, with occasional email and web browsing, then no. This GPU is severely overkill. It would be overpriced and you would never utilize the immense list of features and capabilities it offers. Could be more beneficial investing in an Intel GPU if you really want to upgrade your setup and stay ahead of the obsolescence avalanche. If you're a gamer, however - or perhaps a video editor, or 3D CGI creator, or Videographer content creator, then this GPU, the ASUS TUF Gaming RTX4080 16GB might be a good fit ... MoreSo you're considering upgrading your GPU. Yes, it's expensive, but it's a powerful and vastly capable card. As someone who does photo/video/audio restoration and conversion, this GPU runs major circles around my previous GPU (and RTX2060). I can render photo enhancements almost instantly, and render videos in a fraction of the time (especially using nVidia's increasingly popular AV1 codec - exclusive to the 4000 series RTX GPUs).And gaming? Fuggedaboudit...... I can max out every setting in Cyberpunk 2077 @ 4K resolution and this thing eats it up like candy - even in the most graphically demanding areas of the game - and still gets at least 90-100+fps. Same with every other game I've thrown at it so far (not a small list of RTX games, either). Game after game after game, and this GPU never balks. It just powers through each one with flying colors. So why not get the RTX4070? None of the 4070 models really push the limits like the 4080. Are they not worth it? By no means - the 4070 cards are also capable GPUs in their own right. They just don't do quite enough, in my opinion, to justify the cost. What about the RTX4090? Quite simply because they don't produce enough power over the 4080 to justify their cost, either. And they suck significantly more power than the 4080 - without significant differences in capabilities.Simply put, the RTX 4080 - specifically the ASUS TUF Gaming 16GB GPU hits ALL the sweet spots for me. It's just the finest GPU I've ever had the pleasure of owning and using. And if you're a content creator like me, your revenue should easily justify the cost of this beast GPU, considering the amount of time you'll same rendering material.Do I recommend this GPU? 100%. Buy one before they're all gone - and the prices spike again.(Also, I do not work for nor am I sponsored by any company. This is my own personal, honest opinion on this product, as a small business owner and content creator.) Hope the info helps! Happy shopping!

I generally try to prevent myself from being a perennial "upgrader." It's wasteful, no doubt about it. However, I got promoted this year, and decided it was time to upgrade my 3080 that I bought during Covid. Had this GPU for short time and definitely see a difference over prior RTX 3090. Mostly running MSFS 2020 flight sim. Unlike most video games MSFS 2020 like most other flightsim software like XPlane12 run several programs at once relying heavily on CPU and GPU. This GPU performs outstanding especially when running with DLSS 3.7. I currently run a INTEL 10700K which is my main bottleneck until upgrading soon to Z790 MOBO and a 14th gen CPU. Nonetheless this card is a great addition to my rig. Sorry no benchmarks. I rely solely on FPS and smoothness in game. FPS's of 40-60 in MSFS is considered great.
