First thing you must do after getting this item is update BIOS. My unit appeared DOA at first, but it was working when only the first SODIMM is populated (The one closest to motherboard).I was able to update the bios and everything worked fine afterwards.

Will not boot up if USB device(s) are plugged in. If you unplug it boots up and is a very fast and capable system. I purchased this so that I could have all the USB ports right there on my desk in front of me so that I did not need lots of adapters that do not work well with USB-C devices.
Powerful little device. Was able to get it up and running without much difficulty. Did have to call tech support for a manual referenced in the documentation shipped with the unit, as it was not posted on the ASUS tech support site, and ASUS responded quickly.
This was the Barebones model. Had to return the unit to Amazon. Applied the latest BIOS from ASUS for that model successfully and tried to get the system to recognize and install the Roon ROCK lightweight Linux OS and Roon server software image, flashed to an SDXC card using balenaEtcher software but the NUC 14 indicated it was an invalid image and there was no mechanism to exit trying to install it. Manually had to shut down the NUC and could never get back into the BIOS from that point forward. Pressing the power button only showed a rapidly flashing orange light which eventually turn to an intermittent white light flashing rapidly three times, would pause, then three rapidly white light but no BIOS regardless of the F7, F10 keys pressed.
Rocky start but I love this device! Out of the box, after setup and updates, the reboot did not begin as I expected. I toggled the main power and... well, I think I messed up the hard drive. I put in a new SSD (an upgrade), booted from a USB stick, did the firmware updates, and now it is running like a CHAMP!
I am happy with this NUC's price, performance, fit, and finish. Running Ubuntu 24.04 desktop, 64GB RAM, and 2TB NVME, it seamlessly drives a 5K monitor. However, I encountered an initial issue where the NUC wouldn't boot with both SODIMM slots filled. Unfortunately, ASUS initially suggested returning the unit for repair. Thankfully, Crucial recommended a BIOS upgrade, which fixed the issue and should have been the first step suggested by ASUS technical support and me.Despite this hiccup, I am happy with the ease of upgrading the BIOS on this box. The WiFi performance is excellent, and the video performance is outstanding for my Linux desktop application.I am only giving four stars because of the poor ASUS technical support.
Since this device is so new, the device driver for Wi-Fi and Ethernet is not in the installation software for the operating system. You must connect an external USB Wi-Fi so that it can download the device driver from the internet. Other than this hiccup, everything works fine. I bought three.
