The motherboard or mainboard is the component that connects all the different parts of your computer. Often it has some integrated components like a sound card, enabling your computer to play sound, or a network card, to connect your computer to the network. The standard form factor (size) for motherboards is ATX, you need at least a midi-tower to fit one of those in. Micro-ATX motherboards are often more complete and have more onboard devices, like a video board and fit in smaller cases, but are generally less expandable.

Avoid this mobo. When I was finished building and powered the PC on, I thought something was wrong as it didn't POST. Turns out, it does, but after 2+ minutes.Unimpressed with the board too, when it finally loaded into Windows. Also, generic flimsy backplate at this price point for a motherboard?Regardless, had to return the dumb thing and went with a different brand. Zero issues since.

Purchased as a replacement for a faulty motherboard purchases elsewhere and having issues with CS.Returned to SCAN and received the item promptly, well packaged, at a great price and in full working order and with full confidence in SCAN aftercare.Excellent product, a perfect platform for a mid to high end AMD build with all features you need. Top NVME slot the screws for the heat sink are easy to strip so do not be a heavy handed oaf like me and you will be fine.

Purchased a microcenter bundle yesterday with this mother board. Windows 11 Pro. Ryzen 9 7900X, Dark Rock Pro 4 Heatsink/Fan, 32 gig G.Skill DDR5 6000. Lian Li 216 case and a underpowered video card (AMD 6650XT). I will mostly use this for processing and some gaming. The installation was pretty straight forward. I wasn't a big fan of the how they placed the heatsink for the M.2 with the hole in order to screw down onto the mother board. I felt like they could have just moved the slot to avoid that. Getting a screw in and out of that spot will be annoying.I will say that this has been one of the more frustrating builds I have gotten to work with. I recently built a system last month without any issues at all. I7- 12700k, Asus Z690-Plus TUF, 32 Gigs G.Skill DDR4. Granted it's older and has had time to work out its issues.Important - Flash your Bios or your memory will not register at the correct speeds (Asus released a Bios update on 03/24/023. Bios 1223). I had to reinstall Windows 2 times bc I was running into a lot of performance issues (laggy, programs closing, task manager closing, etc). It ended up being either the Asus AI Suite 3 or the Armory Crate that was causing issues with Windows. After my 3rd clean install of Windows with only the necessary drivers. Everything seems to be running smooth. Windows is now very quick and "snappy".Overall - I would NOT recommend this motherboard to a first time/novice builder. I only went with this motherboard bc it was part of the Micro Center Sale. If you're patient and don't mind the little extra tinkering. It will work out fine. Another thing I like to look at is to see how many opened box items microcenter has. It rare that you will see an open box motherboard available. And this is mostly speculation, but I'm assuming something went wrong with the build. (At the time of this review) MC has more than one of these here locally in Dallas. Like others have already said. the AM5/DDR5 boards take a while on your initial boot. After several updates and restarts. Everything seems to be running smooth. My boot times have shorted dramatically. This is also something that is fairly common when dealing with newer architecture. Early adopters are just part of the Q/A and testing. With that being said, unless you're getting this MB as part of a deal. Look at other options. I feel like Asus could have tested this a little more before releasing the board.

4.5/5 Stars - Got this with the AMD Bundle deal (9700X + G.Skill DDR5). Solid motherboard so far. The BIOS it comes with runs fine w/RAM in EXPO II @ 5600MHz; plan to play with it more later. Boot time is slightly longer by maybe 10 seconds at most.I took half a star off for a few small dings and light scratches on the VRM heatsinks. It isn't noticeable unless you look close though.
Should have done more research on this version of Asus MB. All in all a solid board and has/does what I need, but the boot times with this board are slower than they should be. Also the price is kind of high compared to its Aib counterparts for this version of board considering it’s lacking some qol, and performance things other brands have.
I received this board as part of a combo deal. Less than 2 months into the build, it has developed horrible coil whine and/or VRM issues. It is emitting a super loud high frequency sound near the CPU socket and VRM area. I was able to narrow it down by removing all components and testing as I started to rebuild things. It has also infiltrated into my microphone audio and I can no longer talk on various applications as everyone can hear it. If I place the microphone close to the CPU socket the sound gets absolutely unbearable. I have updated to the latest BIOS which did nothing to resolve it. There are no BIOS settings to change the "Acoustic Noise" and no way to fix this. Please do not buy this board if you stream with a mic or talk to people online via a ... MoreI received this board as part of a combo deal. There are other threads online regarding this issue with other Asus boards as well.
Besides taking 8 minutes 12 seconds to 11 minutes 47 seconds to boot; while booting the power light goes off and on until it gets into the ASUS screen, then it takes over 3 minutes to get to the welcome screen which lasts 3 to 5 minutes. When opening tabs in Chrome, it takes 5 t0 8 seconds to open if it doesn't pop up site can't be reached. When I open my download folder, I have to wait for the green bar to go across the top until it opens, after opening an object in the folder and go back to downloads it takes 5 to 8 seconds to get back into downloads. I feel like I am using Windows 98 again. I put all the best hardware in my computer when I updated it to AM5 but can't seem to get a motherboard that will give me the performance it should!
One of the more affordable boards for the AM5 socket X670 wise and is well worth a look. Board does everything on the tin it says it does and comes with some useful utilities though the lack of a CD or even a URL for support means it would be beneficial to download the software / drivers before buying this board. The latest bios revision also lets this board support the new 48GB DDR 5 DIMMS which over time will become more affordable. Running 2 x 64GB 5200 ram this works fine.
Paired with 7900x and it would crash software randomly, I would be mid game or application and the application would just close. I monitored heat levels, voltage levels, utilization, everything. I updated drivers, reinstalled Windows, removed all drivers and manually downloaded each one I thought would work. Flashed BIOS, ran mem tests, nothing could solve my issues.
I've been building PCs since 1992. This is the First one that wouldn't boot (between personal and PC support for a company in the past, I've built 100s of them). Thought I had a DOA, returned, second one wouldn't boot. After research (they could have mentioned something somewhere to avoid this problem, there's always a FIRST TIME for situations) I found that the board may not POST until up to 3 minutes. I gave the second one 5 and 10 minutes. No go. Each one of these tests, I waited at least 5 minutes. Flashed BIOS to latest, wouldn't POST, flashed BIOS back one version, wouldn't post. NO Indications anywhere of what the issue could be. But not POSTing and THEN doing the memory sync (or what ever it's doing) instead what they do is the memory sync first is not a wise choice, unless of course they want a lot of returned boards that appear to be DOA. Come on, no mention of this anywhere? DDR5, and it's the slowest boot configuration you can find? This is how it should work as a bare minimum; You show video, showing the memory timings so you know it's doing something. Do the memory timings, and SAVE the results to BIOS, so the first time it may take 1 - 3 minutes. Second boot, should be 10 or less seconds. I have a surface tablet (and I'm not bragging) that goes from "OFF" to sign-in in about 10 seconds. A 7900X can't boot up in less than 30 (after first time hardware discovery)? With all that being said, I have 5 ASUS motherboards of various age, and 8 ASUS monitors throughout the house. ASUS let me down on this one, especially for a $200+ dollar board (on sale ~$300 off). Micro Center has been professional the whole way so far.
